Halo is not a proven AAA franchise yet

Personally I think a series with colossal acclaim and many GOTY awards and amazing sales,  a huge cult following and it's next installment is arguably the most anticipated game of all time adds up to be a proven AAA franchise. Contradictory to what CaseyWegner thinks. Really, it's all opinion anyway, nobody is wrong.

For the same reason Halo 2 on the PC got an average score. It doesnt live up to the expectations of current FPS games. If Halo 3 really i just a reskinned Halo 2 with a bit more, than it would only be deserving of the same score as Halo 2 on the PC and "a little more."

YOu would think that and sadly I think you are right. Hwoever review trends usually show drop in the score when a developer essentiallly just pumps out teh same game voer and over

OK, I was confused as you used to term "past games" to vaguely, for all I knew you could of been referring to past games in the series. Maybe you should of said, a past series doesn't make a current series proven. Rerember I never said that Halo is proven, I only said Bungie was.

Personally I think a series with colossal acclaim and many GOTY awards and amazing sales,  a huge cult following and it's next installment is arguably the most anticipated game of all time adds up to be a proven AAA franchise. I don't know that Halo will turn out like Zelda, I can only make an accurate prediction referring to the past. In that sense, it's hard to argue against Halo 3 not scoring AAA.

Then no, it was obviously a rigged game.. Made so that people will bet lots of money on the third strike which is definitly going to be a miss Since its a rigged game.

No game is guaranteed an AAA score. Even if its 576 predecessors all scored AAA, it does not make it a certainty that it will also score AAA.

So the fact that both Halo and Halo 2 scored AAA do increase the chances of Halo 3 scoring AAA, but obviously do not guarantee it.

Now, what was the point in this thread again?

it seems like everything with halo printed on it is godly to everyone.

imo MGS games are better than this, single player wise which is much harder to achieve in than multiplayer.

all u basically have to do with multiplayer is have no lag, good gfx, alot of people playing, and alot of preset maps.

it seems to me that every halo game they make is just a graphically upgraded and multiplayer upgraded version of the last.

they are just basically upgrading everything and sending out the same game. plus, thats the problem, nobody wants the same gameplay as the last and the one before that. u neeed something new to franchises for them to last.

To be honest I think a 3rd AAA is much easier to get than 4 AAA titles.  Mainly because it's hard to keep the game fresh after 3 games, so you risk giving the same ol' same ol.  OR you take a risk and revamp it and then lose the good parts of the game fun. 

Keeping a game fresh through a trilogy is much easier.  The first one might be a one-off, but the second one is proof the dev is doing the right thing.  So as long as a triology was planned from fairly early on, one can be comfortable getting a AAA on the third if the first 2 did assuming the devs keep giving you what you love and adding more of it.

half-life only has 2 full games also, but HL is much better than Halo
