Halo is not a proven AAA franchise yet

if they screw with the MP by adding armor that had different stats of balances i will be majorly mad, i liked halo2's straightfoward jump in gameplay, plz bungie dont over complicate :(

oh and based soley off the beta halo 3 pwns halo 2, and with everything that comes in the final game, halo 3 is garunteed AAA.

I think he's doing a great job of identifying the audience. He trying to make a point about Hype. He knew calling out Halo would get the audience to pay attention. Nothing against Halo. btw Casey is a 360 fan.

that's the whole point. the whole trend is based on two games. that's not really a lot to go on.

Casey I guess I just don't see the point of this thread.  Is Halo 3 over-hyped?  Possibly.  Could it flop?  Not likely, but possible.  You question whether Halo is a "proven" AAA series.  IMO, there is no right or wrong answer as it would depend upon each users definition of "proven".  In regard to your question, did both games score AAA? Yes.  Are there more than one game, thus making it a series? Yes.  Is MS and/or Bungie going to run the risk of Halo 3 scoring less than AAA?  No way.  I could honestly see MS putting more $ into making this game successful than they could ever hope to recoup, as long as it scores well and becomes a system seller of the 360.  Just my opinion.  (Oh, and hopefully I don't get modded, but this is my 1,000th post)

What about sonic? That was a critically acclaimed franchise and look at it now. More titles does not mean better games.kolobus11

I agree with Gazza.  How angry can someone be at their lives to hope millions of people are disappointed in something they are excited about, just because they don't like something.  While I'm not a fan of the PS3, I hope that Killzone does well because I know a lot of people are going to be unhappy if they have paid $600 and are looking forward to KZ2.  This may give away my old age, but ever since gaming became popular with casuals there has been this animosity among fanboys.  WHile i liked nintendo (and couldn't afford the sega systems) I always had friends who like sega and I remember playing their games and talking about games that we were both looking foward too.

Anyways, games like Halo 3 and MGS4 are bound to be AAA games because they have been succesful in the past and generally fans like em', the GS reviews can be BS anyways, especially if Jeff reviews them, I mean THPS3 getting a 10?? that game was low AAA at best even at the time.

Fair enough, that's a good reason. I thought at first it was lack of respect for Ensembles talents but considering C&C 3 scored 8.7 on 360 here despite all it's non-controller related flaws I think it has a good chance. After Bungie Ensemble is the very best Microsoft has and much like Bungie before Halo I have found console gamers don't consider them to be talented developers. I remember years back telling people on these forums Halo would be great because it was being made by Bungie and many people didn't agree. The main reason people had for disregarding Halo was Bungie's lack of experience on consoles and their own lack of experience with Bungie's games.
