I know this is old from last week but what do you think of Bungie's defense of it? They should have a standalone version without the mp part of halo 3 on another disk .....most of us already have that!

It's a full new open world sandbox campaign, co-op horde-like mode, and every single Halo 3 map ever. $60 is a steal.
I'm still not sold on ODST. I still have to see more for me to make that purchase and if there isn't more than what we know then I wish it was just really an expansion instead with an expansion price. Then again its months away, I'm pretty sure I can save up for it.
I don't think it is right. It is no where near the content to justify 60 dollars. The map packs are nice, but it's still not enough. It should be lesstylergamereviewIt has a new campaign, plays differently from Halo 3, and has new modes with Halo 3 maps, sounds worth it.

I have faith Bungie will provide us with a full-price quality Halo title, no worries here. What we've seen so far is worth 60 dollars that's for sure.I know this is old from last week but what do you think of Bungie's defense of it? I knew from day 1 they would charge this much for it. Its a horrible deal when taken into account all historical pricing, but people are so used to getting ripped off now-adays you actually have people defending it saying its worth it.Cali3350Exactly, like MW2 maps, yays we get map packs that have been held back from the final game to milk us instead early!
its a new game you play as an ODST soldier a few days or a week or something before Master Chief gets back to earthSo what is ODST exactly? Is it an add-on or an entirely new game?

It's funny, if you look at ODST as a stand-alone expansion similar to what PC devs turn out, it's a rip-off of epic proportions. But if you look at it as a new entry in the series, it's comparable to what Activision has done with Call of Duty.
This industry is ****ed. :(
its not a expansion anymore, it was orginally supposed to be DLC i believe. But Bugie has now stated its gonna be its own full game, the only thing thats the same are all the halo 3 maps. But a completely new open world campain, new mutliplayer modes, new story, different characters sounds worth the 60 dollars to me.
I think its amusing that lemmings are defending a game that is full price because of content that is copy/pasted from a game they already own and with the original content only being the size of an expansion pack. Its even funnier when one compares the price of ODST with the price of something like the Orange Box.General_XEven if you don't include the disc with the Halo 3 mp, which is stupid, there's still the campaign, Halo: Reach mp beta, co-op and firefight on the other disc.

If its a totally new game, then I don't see the issue of it being the standard $60. Now, if its prettymuch using the same resources and code with some new maps, they COULD have passed the savings of development off to the consumer, but its smart business not to if most Halo fans are going to buy it anyway.
The value of something is only what someone is willing to pay for it.
[QUOTE="Shafftehr"]true. that game was like 6 hours with no multiplayer. Yeah, that game is worth like $20, I would rather get an expansion with content at the same price of a short game with little to no content.Isn't that what games usually cost? If games like Heavenly Sword can come out at full cost, ODST seems like it would be a good value.

Even if you don't include the disc with the Halo 3 mp, which is stupid, there's still the campaign, Halo: Reach mp beta, co-op and firefight on the other disc. And The Orange Box sells for $30 dollars and comes with 3 games and 2 expansions. Hell Team Fortress 2 at $15-$20 comes with more replay value than ODST with FREE map and content updates. Crysis Warhead also came out at $30 (though I bought if for $15 new at Gamestop) and came as a standalone expansion and improved multiplayer/maps in the included disk Crysis Wars.[QUOTE="General_X"]I think its amusing that lemmings are defending a game that is full price because of content that is copy/pasted from a game they already own and with the original content only being the size of an expansion pack. What a "rip off"! The production to make thousands of copies of that game is minuscule. And leave it for compaines to rip us off by charging $60. This should be considered a crime!

I hope you're being sarcastic, because if not, that's nonsense. It is incredibly expensive to make games (for reasons unrelated to the numbers of copies they make of a disc)and they need to make a profit on the game, which is why they charge 60 bucks. The more expensive games become to make, the more they will cost.

Or are you expecting us Halo fans to run to internet petitions like you Valve fans did (I am assuming you are a Valve fan since you keep bringing up the Orange Box).[QUOTE="General_X"]I think its amusing that lemmings are defending a game that is full price because of content that is copy/pasted from a game they already own and with the original content only being the size of an expansion pack.
