I can understand that 100%. By the way, I voted for your set up... your game room and PC set up is freaking ridiculous. lol.carljohnson3456
Sweet! Game room is epic man, playing the original Halo and throwing a grenade... the bass can literally be felt on the other side of the frickin house. lol. I should do a video tour. :P

Let me rephrase that. They expanded the scope of the expansion turning it into a retail game.heretrix
Ammount of content doesn't make a retail game. There are expansions out there with twice the content of your average 'retail' game.

All I can think of when I see this is how xbox fans say GT 5 Proluoge is a rip-off and they would not pay $40 for something that isn'ta complete game...indeed, they'd pay $60-$100 lol.

I seems now that xbox fans (upon hearing this recent news) think that this expasion-pack is somehow a steal for $60, karma is a *****

somebody make a boycott group?

carljohnson3456
I am sure there will be, and I am sure it won't do anything.

When has a petition ever done anything to change anything video game related?

Exactly. Thats why all this complaining is funny to me. L4D2 and Halo ODST will sell like gangbusters. I will be enjoying them, and the people who want to stand for their principles (Which were oddly lacking for all the other short SP games with no MP at all...) can choose to play neither. Won't bother me any.

[QUOTE="General_X"]I think its amusing that lemmings are defending a game that is full price because of content that is copy/pasted from a game they already own and with the original content only being the size of an expansion pack. Its even funnier when one compares the price of ODST with the price of something like the Orange Box.General_X

Even if you don't include the disc with the Halo 3 mp, which is stupid, there's still the campaign, Halo: Reach mp beta, co-op and firefight on the other disc.

And The Orange Box sells for $30 dollars and comes with 3 games and 2 expansions. Hell Team Fortress 2 at $15-$20 comes with more replay value than ODST with FREE map and content updates. Crysis Warhead also came out at $30 (though I bought if for $15 new at Gamestop) and came as a standalone expansion and improved multiplayer/maps in the included disk Crysis Wars.

The Orange Box is probably the best value game this gen, I'm not debating that, you could compare it to nearly any other game this gen and come to that conclusion. I'm sure you can come up with quite a few examples of better valued and priced games, but that doesn't change the fact ODST will have much more content than most other full priced games when it comes out.

[QUOTE="carljohnson3456"]Mirror's Edge retailed for $60. Heavenly Sword retailed for $60. There are all kinds of games that dont warrant a $60 price tag but no one complains. I have a feeling if MS never called this game an "expansion" then no one would bat an eye at this price point.Stevo_the_gamer
The issue for me is that I follow Bungie, I'm a huge Bungie fan -- I've been playing their games since Marathon and Myth. They stated they don't view this as a full game (calling it an expansion as well), and that the price would reflect that -- now that it's full price, and I want to hear an official statement from Bungie regarding their change of heart, and not some Microsof PR drivel.

You want a reason? MS > Bungie in setting price, and MS knows Halo will sell tons.

It all depends on if the campaign is still only 3-5 hours long. If that's still the case you're paying full price for an expansion.....boo hiss. However, if Bungie has stepped it up and truly fleshed out the campaign to Halo 3 length, it's worth it.

No matter what, if you call it an expansion he won't pay full price for it, even if it has more content than a "full game", which to me seems odd, but it is his choice.

They've already said the campaign would be similar in length to Halo 3's campaign, and on top of that you get every map pack available + new multiplayer modes.

$60 is worth it.

Took me a lot longer but then I did look around and do goofy stuff. On the other hand I usually always take an hour or two off what a dev says.

Which is a damn shame, what with console only gamers having to shell out an extra $10 this gen for new games due to the "higher development costs of HD games" while PC games at higher resolutions can be bought new for $50 or less on release day.

[QUOTE="tylergamereview"][QUOTE="mitu123"] It has a new campaign, plays differently from Halo 3, and has new modes with Halo 3 maps, sounds worth it.mitu123
Well for one, the campaign is very short. The price was lower before because of that. Only 3-5 hours long was the estimate. Playing different from Halo 3 does not make it good. Playing differently doesn't automatically make anything good. Just look at Devil May Cry 2 for example. It played differently, and was awful. The new modes aren't going to justify 60 bucks either. It will be fun for a little while, but it won't keep you entertained long enough to make it worth it.

Actually, I read that'll be like up to 8 hours now that they changed the price from $40 to $60, and different gameplay is entirely subjective, some may/may not like the game.

After reading the article that was posted (If you could tell me what you read, that would be great) it still doesn't seem enough. The Halo Reach beta make it a little bit better, but I still don't think it is worth 60 dollars. Yes, gameplay is subjective, but then, so is the new modes. They may not be any good. If you can show me where it was 8 hours long, that would push it over the edge for me. A normal campaign with everythign it delivers would make ODST worth 60 dollars.

If people are still willing to buy just a 8 hour SP game for $60,then a 5-8 hour SP game with probably dozen and dozens of hours of MP fun they basically boycott it?.

I should had bookmarked it, but I read it'll be longer than 5 hours, though it's not always the case. Remember when before Killzone 2 came out, the devs said it'll be 10 hours, one of friends said he beat it in 6 hours, he even wrote a review on it. And I agree with everything else, I hope it turns out well.

Because at the time PS3 owners were begging for games, and GOW 3 wasn't announced. Also I don't remember HS being a huge commercial success, correct me if I'm wrong.

Meh, I've played Halo 3 so much that I would've paid double what I did for it. Bungie has yet to dissapoint me, and ODST looks like Bungie has really polished the Halo 3 engine, story telling, cutscenes, facial animations have majorly improved ect. ODST looks really, really good, so it will be worth the $60 to me.

That would be a great idea. A lot of Halo fans will obviously already have all the maps, just let us download ODST and the other half of the Mythic map pack.

As long as the content is there to justify the price, I see now problem. And really people, boycott a video game? Buy it if you want it, leave it if it doesn't. If it is attracting your interest, its doing something right.

Not being a huge fan of Halo I wasn't getting it anyway.

I don't know enough about it to make a final judgement, but it sounds like it's too expensive.

At least it wasn't rushed out.

Ammount of content doesn't make a retail game. There are expansions out there with twice the content of your average 'retail' game.

And there're retail games that have half as much content as ODST and they're still charged full retail price. Day 1 buy for me.

I didn't plan on buying ODST and now I'm not for sure. I thought it was suppose to be a lower cost just because it was more of an expansion then a whole new game.

That's a real bone headed decision by them. What's even more sad is that people will buy it.

And there're retail games that have half as much content as ODST and they're still charged full retail price. Day 1 buy for me.Icarian
The point is; content isn't the thing that makes a game a sequel or expansion, and expansions ought not be charged at full price.

seriously, how many hours are each of you going to put into this $60 game. If you're going to play the **** out of it, you have nothing at all to complain about.
