fears Ai was the first Ai in a game that shocked me how good it could be I remember hitting over a shelf thing and the Ai quickly adapting and crawling under it I still think it's the best AI in a game so far[QUOTE="bigLLL"][QUOTE="TheUtmost"]F.E.A.R.'s AI is pretty unique. HenriH-42
F.E.A.R. has the same kind of AI that most modern games (especially CoD4!!!) have. It's 100% scripted, and so long as you do what the developers intended/thought you would do, it seems like it's the best AI ever. It's easy to do seemingly good AI when they just spawn at certain points and do scripted actions for 5 seconds before you PWN them.
People who bash for example STALKER's AI need to think that the world is friggin' huge and the AI is still there, even when you're not around.
what?Hell no.
FEARs is NOT completely scripted.... It is the best a.i to this day, in an FPS.
Its not as complex as that in Stalker or Crysis, but its still the best.
It was most certainly a stellar game.Poor Dead Rising, nobody really appreciate this game and nobody talking about it, I think people are shy to talk about other than mainstream games. :x
Dead Rising is the best game I've played this gen so far and consider as a masterpiece.
HAZE-Unit
I bought my 360 (geow bundle) with Dead Rising - a major incentive to buy the system (love anything zombie related - when I first saw screens for the game I was considering getting a 360 for it).
I certainly wasn't disappointed.
Aside from its issues its an AAA game, and one of the most unique this generation.
Wait until MGS4 comes out, and that will be the first REAL next gen game!Elviathanso geow, mass effect, oblivion, stalker, halo 3,uncharted,gt5p,gta4 and cod4 are not next gen, funny they all play on xbox 360 and ps3, oh i'm sorry i forgot next gen does not start until sony says so, my mistake

Pfft. As I said, it's easy to do seemingly good AI for a linear FPS, especially when the enemies are SPAWNED and not on the level from the beginning.

It was really a fresh idea that I didn't play anywhere else so far and the amount of things that the player could do were crazy.
What issues you are talking about?
The saving system was something stupid if that what you mean.
It isnt seemingly good. Its very good. In terms of squad tactics and beleiveable a.i its the best out there in a shooter. Spawned or not, their actions arent scripted, its all on the go, and yes this was all doable because the game consists of tight closed enviroments.Pfft. As I said, it's easy to do seemingly good AI for a linear FPS, especially when the enemies are SPAWNED and not on the level from the beginning.
HenriH-42
Which is why its lacks the complexity of stalkers and crysis's a.i.
Never the less its just better than the other two, even if its less amibitous and complex. Not saying that the other twos arent stellar at all...
Yea issues being the save system. and perhaps the pacing of missions in areas. Sometimes it could be downright frustrating doing so many things at once, with constantly ticking time limits. It really limited exploration. It was really a fresh idea that I didn't play anywhere else so far and the amount of things that the player could do were crazy.

That and the ending with Frank screaming on the tank sucked.
Otherwise it was downright awesome, but yea I nitpick alot.
[QUOTE="TheUtmost"][QUOTE="FragTycoon"][QUOTE="TheUtmost"][QUOTE="FragTycoon"][QUOTE="TheUtmost"][QUOTE="FragTycoon"][QUOTE="TheUtmost"]Halo 3 is entertaining, as well, especially the campaign. But I prefer cutting my enemies in half and obtaining awesome head-shots. Halo 3 is fun, but in my opinion, Gears of War is better. It's just a seriously awesome game, like GameSpot said. In passing, Halo 3's hype was too big! FragTycoon
chainsaws on guns and headshots = masterpiece.....
*sigh*
It was just two examples. Obviously, you haven't played Gears of War.
Hype + good multiplayer = masterpiece? *Big sigh*
Obviously, anyone who disagrees with you haven't played the game.... *big-ER sigh*
I don't know whats worst, the fact that you think it's a masterpiece or that you risk self-ownage to defend it.
Apparently, you think it's sad if anyone thinks that a highly successful game that scored "9.6" at GameSpot is a 'masterpiece', and better than the overhyped Halo 3. *Biggest Er sigh in human history*
I never said Halo was a masterpiece... or even better!
What I took offence too was that gears has some sort of advantage between the two because of chainsaws and headshots. That logic just.... fails!
EDIT: oh and if you are gonna score-monger, GTAIV says hello
Yes, GTA. No, it doesn't fail, one of the greatest kills in gaming history is an advantage, and in Halo 3, most boring headshots. fail
CoD4, Killing the other team with a air-strike/helicopter.... Halo, running someone over with a warthog...
you like chainsaws.. so its better... got it
funny
haven't played cod 4 :)

The first playthrough I was neglecting all the missions and only exploring because I was playing on a SDTV which is another issue for the game, I couldn't read what they want me to do hahaha, I did end up with the worst ending but I was satisfied with the playthrough.
The time limit made the replay value at maximum level and thats one of the things kept me replaying the game, I don't find it frustrating and yea, you nitpick alot hahaha.
There are alternate endings though, I did the 7 day survival, the game becomes so scary and hard from day 5 and on and after remembering those scary moments, it make me say the game was a masterpiece indeed.
[QUOTE="TheUtmost"][QUOTE="skrat_01"][QUOTE="TheUtmost"][QUOTE="skrat_01"][QUOTE="TheUtmost"]Personally I find the gravity hammer to be one of the most satisfying and fun weapons to use in any game...Still 200 times better kill than any in Halo 3.
skrat_01
That weapon is boring to use.
Yes beating people with a massive hammer and watching those hit fly through the air is dull right? :?Your opinion overrides everything right? :|
Yes, it's pretty lame, actually, nothing if you compare it to revving up the bloody, violent chainsaw, cutting him in half, hearing him scream loudly, shaking much, seeing the blood spraying all of your screen, to see him fall down in many pieces
So sadism = more fun?Nice to know your assessment is purely subjective
NO! People bought Gears of War for its lovely story, lovable characters and adorable gameplay, full of hearts and flowers.

Dead Rising is an entertaining game, but it unquestionably is not an extraordinary work of art. The chainsaw gets boring in the game and completely fails to contend against the chainsaw in Gears of War. It's a gratifying game, but it doesn't hold a candle to games like Halo 3 and Gears of War.

Yea the time limit really did encourage a second playthrough, and added a sense of urgency to the game, which is great, as just zombies being slow and lumbering - with no urgency would result in a dull game.
I haven't done any of the alternate endings though, I just looked them up on Youtube, instead I just mucked around in the Mall, so I could get the Zombie Genocider achievement (which was a massive chore), and level up Frank to 55.
Though I havent done any of the survival stuff yet, I just couldent grasp constantly losing health, and not being able to stock up on massive amounts of orange juice at Paradise Plaza - though I would like to beat it (which is back to your note of its great re-playability).

Since your such a score addict, Halo 3 > CoD 4 by 0.5 points...Well, even I (isn't that noteworthy?) thought that no game would stand a chance against Halo 3 in connection with Xbox Live activity. Maybe I should buy Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, which more people play every day. Nevermind, I think that the ultra forceful game Gears of War 2 will curb stomp both of them. Seriously, Gears of War 2 is going to be amazing, even thought the graphics would be the same as the first one!
Just out of intrest, what do you think of The Orange Box ??????I have never played it. Is it good? I'm not so interested in Half-Life, but I definitely will be Half-Life 3, if it's ever released.
Mass Effect
Oblivion
Lost oDyssey
Ninja Gaiden 2
so far, all masterpieces and some of the best games in their genre
It's the best game ever imo. But with your macho mentality im not sure if youd like it.I have never played it. Is it good? I'm not so interested in Half-Life, but I definitely will be Half-Life 3, if it's ever released.

Just one question:
Can you go behind your enemy, press B and see the ULTRA raging chainsaw going up in a dangerous speed, see your enemie's face full of extreme fright, and then to see the ULTRA violent chainsaw completely, extremely with violent cut the enemy and can you hear him scream full with terror, which makes you feel like a real savage killer, can you see him shake with his weapon full of terror, can you see the extremely nice-looking blood spray over your whole scrren, just to see him fall apart in many pieces as you smile? Or, with other words, are you able of performing one of the most brutal, greatest kills in gaming history?
