Hi, I'm from Singapore, where MS doesn't rule. Sony and Nintendo does.

This topic is locked from further discussion.

I find the ignorance of the majority of Americans amusing, but I don't hold it against them. Although I do find a lot of American tourists loud. Guess it's just part of their culture that we outsiders are not accustomed too.

An American friend of mine is one of the nicest and coolest cats I've ever met.

I just don't understand how weiliang was taking the whole thing to a personal level?

Nintendo_Man

Well, since you live in NZ you don't have to look too far to find people that strongly dislike America and it's citizens for illogical reasons. I really don't get it. I think it's quite natural for someone inside a particular country to be ignorant about other countries. People here seem to think that everyone in the US lives in ghettos and has to live with shootings on a day to day basis. :?

When you read that there are 70 million guns owners in the US and that there is 9 guns for every 10 people in the US, then you can understand why.

So, there are 4 sheep for every person here in New Zealand, does that mean I'm a sheep shagger?

Americans are as a whole pretty loud. I'm a pretty loud person. I was in london a few years back and people were so quite all of the time I felt really out of place. Is it considered rude to be a little loud in public in NZ?

Well, I'm well aware the goin' on in my country.

Where among the threads did i mention that Americans were dumb.

Quote me word for word if i did. I haven edit anything in relation to accusing anyone. cause I didn't

If using the word "geographical illiterate" means "dumb" to you ..

Well I'll just take it as you're ... well, not dumb, but extra sensitive to words.

Good day, please don answer me .. i'm sure you will ..

Kritical_Strike

Wow, you continually use the 'fact' about American's geographical illiteracy, and your trying to say that your not implying that they are in some shape or form, dumb? Obviosly anyone who can't find their own country on a map is not too bright, so you bringing up this false statistic is just another way of American bashing.

You can't help but target Americans, what the heck is your problem man? Did Americans kill your family or something? Sheesh get over it.

If you have a point to make, make the point but don't bring insults about other countries into it.

You know, you are kinda putting words into his mouth.

Actually, there's about 10 sheep for every person in New Zealand.

So if you live outside of Auckland, yeah, chances are you shag sheep ;)

The best thing for you to do is stop talking about America, and start talking about games/gaming because I have the ammunition, and all I'm waiting for is for you to say something insulting. I don't want this because I'll be banned, most likely. You don't want this because you'll leave this thread feeling like less of a man.

So let's just leave it at that, ok?

Not really. We're pretty relaxed about everything.

I guess Pacific Islanders here are pretty loud, but we don't hold it against them.

Most of the older NZ European generation take a leaf out of UK and remain relatively quiet.

But the younger generation..... they watch too much E! Channel and MTV . Girls here, in groups, can get pretty loud and annoying. By themselves, they're quiet. But I guess that goes for every culture, doesn't it?

But no, it's not considered rude. In fact, I think it just makes the Americans seem a little more articulate; the one's I've heard anyway. And it makes them sound a little more energetic than the rest of us :D

@ Frozen Liquid: I read one of your posts way back in this thread and said "Pasam Alam", its actually Pasar(Market) Malam(Night). It doesn't mean black market but piracy does make its way to the night markets in Malaysia.

Sorry yeah, my bad. Night markets, that's what my parents always tell me. And I was spelling it using phonetics.

But it's not just pirating electronics.

Common things I see at night markets are this:

Pirated clothing, pirated jewellery, pirated dvds and games, and Durian

What culture? Getting drunk and going to a football game? The idea that you're "free" and the rest of the world is somehow not? Seriously, what culture?

The impression i get of America is you're all a bunch of loud mouths, thinking you rule the world and completly ignorant of any country outside of your own. And for the most part that's true. Sure theres some of you that are fine but the mass majority well, i can't say what they are without getting myself in trouble but lets just say there not to bright.

Anyways:

I stopped reading the original post when i realized it was all his opinion and none of it was actual fact or real reasoning, just bashing about pc ports or some rubbish.

I just wondering from which country are all this people calling americans ''stupids''

You'll hear it in:

The United Kingdom

New Zealand

Australia

France (not outright. But more about culture)

I guess some of South East Asia as this Singporean has pointed out

Canada? But you guys have a rivalry anyway.

Funny thing is, all the young people want to go to America :P

Go to america :/ are you kidding. the only thing i like about america is south park, and because it makes fun of american culture and all :/

I believe South Park is Canadian.

@tc

i'm from the philippines, south east asia. we have the same time zone. anyway, i agree on the part that the ps2 sold lots of consoles in asia, especially here in my country - because of the price of the pirated games. in this country a pirated game of ps2 costs only 50 -150 pesos. which amounts to 1-3 USD. yep, one to three american dollars.

Heh, that's the funny thing, somehow they manage to hate America and critizise it all the time, and at the same time emulate it's music and culture. How many Gangstas do you see walking around Grey Lynn and on Queens Street? That's pure American influence there

Well, its kinda easy to dislike(hate is too harsh a word) America when the country has bad foreign policies especially towards the middle east. But its not easy to dislike american people despite having a few bad stereotypes. The american government is kind of the reason to why its disliked and its sad to see american people be associated with them.

lol, i felt like i have to put my voice in this topic perhaps it's because I'm a HK Chinese who immigrated to Australia 4 years ago

I agree with many things that the topic creater pointed out like how Asians are "waiters", it's true, at least in hong Kong. People are waiting for games they like and yes, that includes 360 games. Can you believe that people like blue dragons more than gears in hk? not joking. That should explained most of the Asian's taste in gaming. the other thing is that they're waiting for the ps3 games to become available for pirating. I bet no one would buy the 360 and wii in the first place if piracy isn't available.

All right, enough for hk, what about Australia... I suppose the 360 and wii have a slightly upper hand here but it's just sad when only small proportion of people play video games here... And other funny geographic fact is that despite Australia is like 1000 times bigger than hk, it only has like 3 times more population, lol

Many Americans are immigrants, my mother is Philipino, most of my friends are Philipino, and my dad is of German descent. The many different types of immigrants that have come to America also brought their culture here making our culture one of the most diverse.

just cuz you think like that doesnt mean all asians do, i am an asian and i totaly disagree with you.

your problem is that you think PS3 is like PS2. face it, its not!

PS2 was cheap and had some good games so it sold some and cuz it sold developers made games for it. so it sold more. and alot more! all fans arent blind to buy a PS3 just because PS2 was good. if PS3 dont sell good 3rd party developers dont make games for it.

i am an asian and i love western RPGs, infact i think BioWare is the best RPG developer in the world. i used to play world of warcraft and i loved it, really great game (but highly addictive). i played MSG 2 on my PC and i think its one of the most boring games ever (but i know many people who love it) i mean just cuz you are an asian doesnt mean you can only like asian games!

many of top PS2 titles werent asian.

if PS3 get titles like SoC and GoW sure i will buy one but at the moment it has nothing to offer, doesnt matter if you are asian or american.

just to be on-topic, hoplayletsplay is right about the asian people waiting on piracy to get ahold of nex gen games.

Hi i am from Singapore too, and i agree what TC said. The PS3 and Wii is currently owning the 360 in Singapore. That's a fact, and is owning the 360 in the whole of ASIA, which has more people then the Amercians. Why do u guys think we won't buy a good PC? The reason is our PC is much more expensive then u guys. I have a good PC btw, and in order to get a good PC with core 2 duo, 2GB RAM, 8800GTS, and all the other stuffs, u got to spend around 2k+++.

And PSP is much popular then the DS in Singapore though, when u board the train or bus, there will be at least 1 person playing the PSP, no joke. And US has the Zune from Microsoft right? In Singapore, there is no Zune or what so ever. We have IPods and Creative MP3 players. :)

And for the laggy thing from Xbox live, i had the problems too. I have a 360 too, and when i played gears of war with u amercians, there will be at least 2-3 seconds delay in the lag. Serious. The xbox live(per month)cost $13.90, which i can play free online using a PS3 and a computer. That's why you amercians just think that the 360 is owning in the whole world, which that's not true. There is ALOT, and i really mean ALOT, something like a ratio to 9:1 asians love Sony and Nintendo then Microsoft.

Feel free to ask me more about Singapore, and i will gladly answer it. :)

Hey we didn't see anything on the news about 9/11 this year.

WTF is up with that?

Maybe the media novelty has already worn off.

But yeah, I almost forgot about 9/11 today. In fact, I didn't even know it was the 11th lol.

Sure.

Why do I get the feeling that you're twisting everything like the TC has done?

Honestly, when I go to Asia, they don't seem tohave a preference. They just want something accessible and fun and appealing. The PS2 has that in spades. The PC has that also, in the form of internet cafes.

And by the way, iPods are American.
