Overall, I think PC gaming is the best. It's got the better graphics(AA,AF,higher res, texture mods) and add-on mods. Console gaming is good for people who want to play games casually. I'm mainly a competitive player(I used to be a high-level CoD2 player) and I couldn't imagine myself playing like that on a console, it just doesn't work.
I bought my PS3 + 42" HDTV for 1 main reason, to continue my playstation tradition and to get all the sequels to some of the best console games ever IMO (MGS4,GT5,FF13 etc). I didn't get a 360 because I can play GeOW,Bioshock and ME soon on their PC and get them looking better than their 360 version. The Wii just doesn't interest me as the gaming friends I have all play competitively on their PC.
You can be hardcore and not into pc gaming...don't kid yourself. PC gaming is great though. ^_^ For the time I had my video card I loved it. It just ended up costing me more than it's worth though. I have a pre-built PC and have had to upgrade quite a few things just for the video card to run like it should so I decided to sell the stuff I had bought and stick to consoles untill I got a job then build a PC from the ground up. -_- PC gaming can be a nightmare if you were in a situation like I was in.killab2oo5You bought a pre-built without doing any research and are now complaining afterwards.:|

Gotta love it. Anyways, I don't understand why any fanboy makes a big deal out of opening a dvd slot, and changing a disk.
No , No CD Fixes are legal.

I quess you could make backup ISOs of all your game disks, having backups is legal.
For me, PC rules them all, if I had to decide between my consoles or my computer, the choice would be a no brainer. That being said, there are a lot of people who enjoy not working past compatability issues, driver problems, hardware failures, data loss, ect, ect. Every rose has it's thorns and PC gaming is a perfect example of it. Consoles are the "safer" bet, any game you buy for your console is going to work without a problem most times. Can't count the number of times I've gotten a new PC game home to find out it won't work for me right off or has some annoying technical problem that I can't overlook. Example: I just got Kane and Lynch: Dead Men, and I have a great PC gaming setup, yet there is an annoying "hiccup" issue that occurs every few seconds that absolutely ruined the game for me since I can't make it go away no matter how many settings I change. Borrowed the 360 version from a friend and despite the platform being technically inferior, it ran without a hitch.
I can totally understand why people would avoid gaming on a PC, but I have fun working through a lot of the "issues" of PC gaming and have gotten used to not being able to unpackage a game and jump right in. If anything, I think the main reason people shy away from PC gaming is that technical problems can ruin the experience if you don't have the know-how or inclination to overcome them. Just watch the boards and see how many people whine and cry without end when their 360 dies and they're without a console for a month. Just imagine a failed power supply, or a faulty hard disk going bad and losing huge amounts of data and save games, it's problems like that that turn people off to the platform in general and the stiff price of entry in the U.S. compared to consoles.

i love it when consolists use the argument "ATLEAST I WONT HAVE VIRUSES"
that just proves consolists dont know how to maintain a pc, actually you dont need to maintain anything, alteast i dont,
i pc using 2 different computer in the past 4-5 years with no anti virus software, and you know what? i never got a single virus
Cause consoles are more accesible to most people and easier to use: no install (ok maybe on ps3 for like three games), needed upgrades, tech specs, settings tweakings. Consoles you can put a game in and play, even with multiple people on one. PC gaming is great, though, just not popular.Knuckleball93Except for the fact that a modern PC will be able to play all new games for the remainder of the generation at graphics on par with or better than consoles, never requiring an upgrade to have graphics on par with or better than consoles. Oh, not to mention that most games automatically give recommended settings. You DO NOT need to upgrade, unless you'd like to call changing consoles every 4-5 years upgrading as well.

I had 2 HDTVs before I bought my HD Consoles. I bought them for watching TV, not gamingand my cpu, ram, hdd, case, os, motherboard, isn't for gaming, so I guess that means my pc cost me $250 for gaming. find me a console that is under $250 and runs cod4 in 720p maxed out or runs stalker, crysis etc
if your going to use the argument I have a a hdtv, I can bet 80% of systemwars has a pc form the last year or so with a cpu that is pleanty good enough and the only thing the lacks is gpu so you can't say pc gaming is expencvie if you own a hdtv

why do console fanboys believe hermits only buy pc's to play games? That is the point I'm trying to make here. You cannot say that the PC is expensive when it's just as much of a neccesity as a normal TV, up the price a bit and you will get just as much advantages from a normal pc to a high-end rig as a SD-TV to a HD-TV. In my case you get a gaming rig capable of playing all the latest games atleast on High.
People choose how to spend their own money and I bet MOST people these days would choose to invest on an HDTV than a gaming rigwhy buy a hdtv when you can get a nice pc monitor that's pleanty big enoug for watching tv on and a decent gaming pc for the same price as the hdtv?
I think keboard and mouse suck for playing games, been playing video games for over 20 years and can kick your hermit butt in most games so don't call me a non gamer. Most hardcore gamers grew up playing arcade machines, not sitting in their bedrooms playing RPG number 100002, hermits are not hardcore at all, just think they are because they spend to much money on lumps of wires and plastic that are better for printing holiday pics than playing games.
[QUOTE="Gambler_1"]Set up?Well probably yes but more difficult to maintain than a console well no not really.[QUOTE="PBSnipes"]Complexity, and I say that as a PC gamer. You can debate how expensive PCs are and what they can and cannot do, but at the end of the day the fact is it is much easier to set-up, play and maintain a console because of their unified architecture. While there are benefits to that complexity (upgradability, mods, community features, etc.) you cannot deny that it takes significantly longer to set up and maintain a PC than it does a console.PBSnipes
All you have to do is run defrag and virus scan every 3 months and you are fine and done with the maintainance.Every now and then just check out the latest graphics drivers and update them if new ones are available. There is nothing difficult in that.
Lets compare setting up a 360 vs setting up my PC (which is a laptop, meaning I didn't even have to install hardware):360:

easier the first time, but, console updates are now more common than driver updates, windows updates itself, games auto detect the settings so you don't need to even touch them, when did I last install steam? oh 2005. I have it on my games partition of my hdd so it never has to be installed again even if it reload windows, you don't have to patch games for them to work and consoles also have patches so this point isn't really valid anymore.
ok installing games does take a while depending. if its one game its like 5min, and then you get 1/4 the loading times of consoles.

for those who agrue about updates in pc games have a read of the gt5:p review
http://www.gameplanet.co.nz/playstation-3/reviews/131581.Gran-Turismo-5-Prologue/
"now require that you actually install games. So it wasn't until after I'd twiddled my thumbs for a few minutes, then made a coffee, then drank the coffee, that the game was installed and I was ready to play!
Only... my console still wasn't. Gran Turismo 5 happily informed me that there was an update to install. OK, this probably won't take too long, I thought.
Three more coffees, and a game of internet RISK later and I was finally allowed to play. Funny, I always thought this was one of the main points of the argument that consoles were better than PC's. No installing things, no patching things, just put the disk in and it goes? Isn't that what it was all about?"
consoles are full as updates as much as pcs are now, sad but true

a tiny bit more but $20 less per game quicly adds up, over 1 year the extra spend on console games = a new mainstream graphics card. plus you can't run photoshop on your xbox

Yea constant upgrades every 6 months, and only $2000 PC's run COD4 and Gears as smooth as the 360. Plus 90% of PC owners cant even play Halo 2.
I like PC gaming but prefer console gaming, and heres why:
Typical PC gaming for me goes like this,
I go upstairs to my PC desk, turn on the 17" LCD monitor and wait a minute or so for it to boot up , then shut down various things I dont need running. Start team speak and join the server then hide it. Put in the game and boot it up. I goto the server list and search for the server my freinds are on and join that game. I start to play. Half an hour goes by and my hands start cramping because I'm not that used to using a mouse and keyboard. Then my back starts to hurt from a couple hours sitting at a computer table. I also only have stereo speakers (which are ok but not ace) on my PC and after a couple hours I go back down watch tv because Ive had enough.
Typical 360 session goes like this:
Turn on my 360, press on on my 42" HD plasma and my 5.1 surround automatically boots up itself and sets to 360. I then grab a beer and stick my wireless headset on and sit back in my recliner. Tap 1 button to see who's on and another to join the game. Then I take a couple good drinks of my beer by which time the game is on and I'm off. I start to get tired so look at the clock and about 8 hours have gone by. I say see ya to my freinds and goto bed having had a cracking night of gaming and a laugh with my regular players.
For me, thats why console gaming is just better.
Cheers

There's more than a bit of hyperbole here.
You don't need to update every second, games always crash for a reason.
And I hate to break it to you, but your not going to be considered a rock star for playing on a console.

1. PC's do not cost $2000 to even purchase a new one. The TC is paying only 4/5 of that - he could cut the costs down by half if he just used the link I posted. Nor do you have to upgrade one every 6 months, because buying the most powerful PC out today will allow you to run games for another 4 years. At which point the "low" graphics will be just as good as today's "High" graphics or better.
2. That's because it's a bad port. It's why HL2 only runs at 30fps on the 360 @720p when my "Last-gen PC" can run it at full settings @ a higher framerate and higher resolution.

I guess consoles are all crappy by that logic? The 360 could barley run GeoW and Bioshock at 30fps
