If you buy a PC for 2k then you either have too much money or you're just plain stupid. So people with crossfire/sli systems are stupid?[QUOTE="SchnabbleTab"][QUOTE="Alienware_fan"]And you forgot the price $2000 vs $400.
Alienware_fan
You don't even need to go crossfire or sli to get over $2,000. Can easily get there by wanting a solid state hard drive, lots of RAM, etc. Few weeks ago I was messing around at Ibuypower's website and had put together a system over $2,000. It had just 1 AMD 7970 GPU (With all the driver problems and inefficiency of dual cards I see little point in it), a 8350 AMD CPU, two HDDs (One solid state), 32 gigs RAM, etc. Yeah, some of those specs are probably silly but I like I said I was just goofing around. Point is you can get well over $2,000 without dual GPUs. And heck, I could have gotten it a lot more expensive than that if I had chosen one of the uber-expensive CPUs from Intel.
And you forgot the price $2000 vs $400.PS4 differs by:
Â
-less games
-less exclusive
-less gfx
-less performance
-less features
-less gamers

I would imagine so
By how much?Thats not how it works. Is a GTX 285 from 2009 almost as fast as the ps4 since its just under 1.84 teraflops ? The answer is hell no (point being you can't take one of the many aspect of the GPU and think "oh hey I can just compare the number......"). Doesn't work like that]Is it more than 1.84 teraflops?

Also money. With more money next gen will make Crysis 3 max graphics on pc look like a Ps1 game compared to a Ps4 game.Â
"So if it were PC only, could we have done more things? Certainly, yes. Could we have afforded a budget to make a game like Crysis 3 PC only? No"
slipknot0129
Â
Lower budget does not mean less graphics.
Crysis 1 was made a PC exclusive for years, it did well and was also the best looking game for years.
The only reason game budgets will get larger is because companies waste to much money.
Heck they could hire me and I could save them millions while still bringing out the same quality experience.
A next gen budget shouldn't be more than 10-20 million if you know how to use the money wisely, 25-30 mil is pushing it....
Most devs start with high quality assets like million poly models then get them down to a much smaller size.
A lot of the money is wasted on advertising as well which could be done much cheaper and have the same effect.
Publishers throw money at devs because they can and they expect Call of Duty sales numbers.
PC is powerful and ps4 is weak sauce?TessellationIt not necessarly weak, just isn't as suprising/stacked as last generation (for example the 7800/x1800 series cards where $500 when the 360 came out and they still lacked the unified shaders of the xenos which was a DirectX 10 feature).
Prices are cheap on current cards (GTX 660SC which is basically a 7870 can be found for $180), theres alot of future cards coming out soon (GTX 700/ati 8000, GTX 800 in Mid 2014), and the ps4 is using PC architecture so Hermits might actually be in a good position this generation
That won't be the standard in all PS4 games.D= Oops accidentally deleted my comment.. But yes, that is true :)[QUOTE="krisroe_213"]
Let's not get ahead of ourselves here.
Until they can start playing games at full 1080p with steady a 60FPS, then we should discuss it.
There was even stuttering in the UE4 tech demo

It is a custom design, with fast unified ram
Essentially can be like 10x faster than the best PC out there, since it removes any huge PC bottlenecks
It is like xbox 360 could run Witcher 2 with next gen lighting, when 2000$ PCs in 2011 could only run it with last gen lighting
The power of customized hardware destroy the normal PC hardware easilly
Maybe in 2020 PC will strong enought to overcome PS4 by raw power alone, but not before
That is why Agnis and Deep Down look like CGI and the best looking PC games looks like a bad joke comparing

Wouldnt you be annoyed at being forced to buy a new console to continue playing games if its not much more powerful than the consoles you already own? Oh wait youre a nintendo fan so I guess you didnt mind being forced to buy the Wii which was barely more powerful than Gamecube to continue playing Nintendo games. And I care litttle about the specs of a console, but it's games.Â

just to point out that a HD7850 will perform very similar to ps4 in all next gen games.
PS4's 18 CUs GCN (1.84 TFLOPs) would fall between normal 7850 and 7850 1Ghz OC(1).
1. http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/his_radeon_hd_7850_iceqx_turbox_review,1.html
7850 @900 Mhz has 1.84 TFLOPs e.g. MSI R7850 TWIN FROZR 2GB OC @900Mhz.
If PS4's GCN is clocked at 800Mhz, then it's 32 ROPs (and related TMUs) would be clocked at 800mhz which is slower than 7850's 860Mhz 32 ROPs (and related TMUs).
I prefer 7850 16 CUs @ 1Ghz over 7850 18 CU @ 800Mhz i.e. must get 32 ROPs bottleneck to atleast 1Ghz.

It's "semi-custom" as stated by AMD's CEO.
Nice marketing brochure.
Despite all that power of GDDR5,
Killzone 3 demo ran at 30 fps
Thief 4 will be locked at 30 fps.
Batfield 4 will be 720p
Unreal 4 Engine ran perfectly on GTX680 and struggling on PS4.
Dark Souls 2 is developed on PC, 60fps on PC and 30fps on consoles.
Optimization MY ASS
Â
When the cows see that PS4 doesn´t perform better, they will speculate about a hidden power of GDDR5 and that someday it will be unlocked :P
While we, bloody hermits, will keep playing games at 1080p and 60 fps.
Â
Thank you, Sony.
It has the power of a mid range PC but unified. Optimizing on PS4 will be even better than the crazy hard PS3. So PC gamers can buy their current high end GPU's, but you ain't getting better graphics on multiplats, unless you use a mod or something. Also devs have been hitting a graphical/budget wall since 2007, so graphics aren't gonna get that much better than the top looking games of today. At the end the graphics kings will be the big budget PS3 exclusives from the wizards at Naughty Dog, Guerilla, Quantic Dreams, Santa Monica....

No, the MP games will all look the same on both consoles and high end PCs for about a years, then the PC will pull ahead. History repeats itself again and again! Please Log In to post.
