How does the PS4 differ from a high-end gaming PC?

The answer is the ps4 is going to cost around $399/$499 and a high end gaming pc costs anywhere from $800+ to build next......

ronvalencia

It's already cheaper than 800USD to build a PC that will perform similar to consoles.

By the time the PS4 comes out it will be even cheaper.

And when the newest GPU designs come out next year a comparable GPU to the PS4 will be a low end one.

You could have about $600 PC that beats PS4.

Say what? How does that make a difference? The GPU still beats the PS4 outright.

Not by much and when games 4 years or 5 from now are using 5 GB of ram for video that card would be crying for low setting low res and chugging. Ram has big impact on performance, like i already demonstrated with the 7850 and the 650ti.

If you have a pc from 2007-now chances that you have a copy of windows Vista or Windows 7, and if your typing on a desktop you already have a mouse and keyboard. And whats funny is that you still think the PS4 gpu will use more then 2-3 gb on average and having that magical 7gb or less of usable memory will actually make a difference for 1080p gaming....

They do not have the greatest reputation, except maybe their "Golden" boards.  If I was gonna use a budget board, probably go with Asrock, maybe Biostar

Their lower end boards suck and they have cap problems, unless your buying their better quality boards... I would choose asrock asus, gigabyte, or even MSI over ECS. All oem and budget ECS boards ive encountered have failed.

No all component most be accounted period,i may have windows that doesn't mean the whole world has one. Since you are full of sh** and a leak actually quote 1GB for system and OS,i say the PS4 will use more than 4 GB of ram, were ever you want to admit it or not,it doesn't change the fact that sony will.

PS4 8GB GDDR5 1GB for system and OS 7 for video, that is what was leak take it as you like, and since Crytek actually claimed that memory if the most important part that is always unbalance, and that they can do so many tricks with ram i take their word over some one like you. Specially after you claimed that owning a quad core CPU with an 8800GTX on 2006 was less expensive than the PS3 on the long run.

Your example of a 7850 vs 650ti is so flawed it isnt even funny... comparing a gpu with 192bit bus vs a gpu with 256bit bus, then GTX 650ti is slower then my 560... I compare the 7850 1 GB vs the 7850 2GB version, and the 650TI 1GB vs the 650Ti 2GB version ass,the test was done by Anandtech you idiot, and in games like Skyrim the impact was huge.... http://www.anandtech.com/show/6359/the-nvidia-geforce-gtx-650-ti-review/15 You are the moron who think i was comparing the 7850 vs the 650TI... Priceless...

That was the leak 1GB for OS and system, which is allot by the way the PS4 doesn't run i repeat doesn't run windows. The whole theory about the PS4 using half his ram for system and OS is created by people like 04dcarraher who fiercely refuse to admit that the PS4 will not use 4GB of ram for system and OS,i mean how could it be..? Not even game recording takes that much ram,you don't need on PC 4 GB of ram to use fraps,in fact fraps runs even on XP machines, the PS Vita has 512 MB for OS and system and works like a dream and can even multitask, and can do party chat.

Recording video requires a dedicated harddrive.

The Vita has 512MB for system and OS,+ 128MB for video which is apart, and doesn't have extra hardware like the PS4 nice try lemming..

\[QUOTE="tormentos"] Keyboard mouse windows.. And your GPU doesn't have half the ram the PS4 has...

you think people can't reuse what the own? they don't need to buy a new copy of windows, or a mouse, keyboard, montior, speakers, even sound card every single time. people like you who add that to the price are stupid. i already own windows, upgrading constantly for 5 years, bought windows once. if people want to add stuff like that to the price, you might as well add the cost of a 1080p hdtv to consoles. that ram argument is moronic. learn about specs.

You own windows the damn complete world doesn't,and since the argument is what you have to spend to beat the PS4 windows is included,i could pirate it as well and is free, but using that on an argument is even more silly most people don't do it.. You are an idiot read a few post abode and see if it really moronic.

[QUOTE="MK-Professor"]

[QUOTE="tormentos"] Not by much and when games 4 years or 5 from now are using 5 GB of ram for video that card would be crying for low setting low res and chugging. Ram has big impact on performance, like i already demonstrated with the 7850 and the 650ti.tormentos

I hardly think so that next gen mutiplats will use 5GB vram at consol settings...

and if you don't like the HD7870 XT 2GB that he choose you can go with the HD7850/1Ghz with 4GB vram

You really need to understand that 7GB are not dedicated for video ram, some of that are for CPU, GPU, and just cache data. FACT is that low-end GPU like the HD7850 will perform just like the ps4. DEAL WITH IT.

and also it is a fact that quad core CPU with an 8800GTX back in 2006 was less expensive than the PS3 in the long run.(assuming that you buy 12 games per year)
