Hmm intriguing, can't say I was ever particularly into them as a group (and by that I mean at all). But on the other end of the spectrum I have: I just died in your arms, how am I supposed to live without you, come sail away,  ect. What do you have to match these complete opposites?

music preferences vary, but then again, someone could complain of the insane amount of J-pop in JRPG games, or the abundances of punk rock style music in extreme sports games like Tony Hawk, Excite Truck, hell any Activision game mostly.

Frankly, I don't mind, for some games it's just adding to the experience, and fits the mood. I'm mostly open to any music, but my preferences are more older, classic styles. I'm also a big electronica/techno, new wave, classical, 70's/80's rock and metal kind of guy. :)

:lol: @ you lames actually agreeing with the threadstarter on this topic.  Why shouldn't there be variety?  Just because you don't listen to hiphop don't mean I don't.  Why wouldn't EA put hiphop in Madden?  Or Fight Night... or NBA Live... or Need for Speed?  All of those games are damn near a part of hiphop culture.  I didn't b!tch when I played DMC3 through all that corny ass music, I just realized that the game is targeted for a different demographic. 

And there is a difference between rap and hiphop.  None the less don't call a whole genre crap.  I don't listen to a lot of different types of music.  It's all poetry just delivered in a different way.  Whether it be rap, rock, pop, r&b, or hiphop.  Don't hate on what you don't understand.

Only someone who doesnt know metal would Say Slayer.  Yes they have been around forever, but they have like one good song.  There is many more bands out there that dont growl or talk about suicide.  Try listening to Power or Speed Metal, it is usually more cheery.

Hell yeah!  I could care less if the guy is growling or high pitched.  If the music sounds good and it all fits together, i will listen to it.  I usde to not listen to metla because they screamed all the time, but then I fell in love with that guitar and drum style and now its my primary form of music other than punk(Not Fall Out Boy or any of that lame crap, real punk like Misfits and old school AFI etc..)

What is a right reason?  So your saying someones opinion is wrong?  OOOKKK....  I can hate a type of music because they dress funny, who cares.  Rhyming about being a gangsta and slapping around women just is not appealing to some people, just like the devil and rocking out isnt to some.

I just people as a whole based upon their actions but I unfortunately in my experience find that the people are big fans of rap are more often that not (in my experience) the people who speak too loud, try to talk like "Fitteh" and dress more like a member of a prison gang than the intelligent person they (presumably) are.

While we're at it I have problems with the whole "Emo" scene which can be attributed to a certain category of rock but I haven't had as many issues with them.

Also I take issue with people calling rap "poetry" or "musical" as I can divulge no musical quality from what is around now and little from most of the oldest stuff.  One last thing..people should NOT try to defend Rap, just as I won't try to defend Death Metal..you can't do it without making a spectacle of yourself in my opinion.

True. At the same time, the whole "rock star" image is largely the same vision of excess and the good life. Meanwhile, they typically go broke on their way down, or die before they get the chance. Oh well, I don't really respect virtually 99% of any music artists... rock, rap, or otherwise. Only a very select few do things the right way and come out on top because of it.

Actually just about every radio station I've ever heard, other assorted knowledge gleaned elsewhere and for the record I hate MTV as its more a popularity vendor than anything else, I only ever watch the VH1 top 40 countdowns. (which are actually interesting in most cases).

You need to loose the stereotypes man because you really don't know what your talking about. You don't like Rap and that's perfectly fine. An aquaintance of mine believes that everyone who listens to Rock has issues and are the ones you hear about in Columbine style killings. You would say he doesn't know what he's talking about. Its extremely hard to argue with my personal opinion here, this isn't a limited sample either its taken from a group of thousands of individuals who until a month ago I ran into all the time. Stereotypes sometimes develop because they are accurate and while some of the most extreme stereotypes are certainly not true I find these particular ones are based upon my observations over a period of years.

Please do, I'm aware of a few Tupac and Coolio tracks that definitely have some merit (and I actually kind of like) but they nearly simultaneously made albums that utterly contradict the messages they put forward on them.

Its my opinion but please try to justify ho banging, capping and all the other prevalent themes in Rap, the most negative themes in rock are by comparison limited to a small subcategory which is coincidentally enough the subcategory I said I would never defend.

I live in a city of 250,000 around the "Third Coast" so I don't think what I say is entirely baseless here.
