I hate the fact that hip hop is taking over as the lead genre of music in games.

[QUOTE="Ibacai"]I'd like to hear music with more of a classical touch. Yes, it depends on the game. I just don't like the fact that the violin doesn't seem to exist anymore.Ibacai

The God Of War games had great classical soundtracks.

The Smash Bros. games do as well.

Yes, and I like that. :D

Hey, same here. Orchestra music enhances the experience of games and movies. My personal favorite, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

Here in Britain its not just the hip hop genre thats taking over, its also indie music (which I hate!). I may not be a fan of hip hop but I couldnt care less that its being used in games, im just glad indie music is not the main genre being used, its such a disgrace to guitars and rock (sorry to any indie lovers out there!).

360. Problem solved.

Actually, does the PS3 allow you to play music during games also? Because I hear that through updates they are getting a lot of new features.

The only reason I like Guitar Hero II...being able to play "Thunderhorse" by Dethklok.

But I'm not holding my breath that many games will have metal for their music of choice.

It ALL sounds the same?  Please be specific, the same ignorant and totally untrue statement can be said about rock or any other genre of music.

So, Kanye West, Snoop Dogg, Three 6 Mafia, Common, Young Joc, Lupe Fiasco, Gym Class Heroes, and Ludacris all sound the same?  Holy crap some of you people are ignorant as hell.  Something tells me none of you even listen to Hip Hop.

It is true, people say it for any genre that don't know it.  Example:  people think death metal is garbage because you can't understand the words and think bands like Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, 6 Feet Under, Suffocation, etc. all sound the same.

I don't care for hip hop, therefore I won't judge its music since I don't know it.

I haven't noticed that. Then again, I haven't played much of Def Jam, Saint's Row or NFS.

Burnout has a good mix of music, as does GTA considering how many radio stations there are.

the-very-best

I agree. GTA has a good mix of all music. San Andreas focused on Rap more than other genres because the main character is an inner city gang member. Vice City had a great soundtrack. I'm not a big rock and roll guy and I know how annoying certain Madden's were that had rock in the soundtrack.

People who bash rap/hip hop because they think its all "pimps and ho's, guns and **** are as ignorant as people who bash games because it's not on their console of choice.  Saints Row and NBA 2k7 actually had some good hip hop such as Aesop Rock and Heiroglyphics, which most of you probably never heard of, who are far from "guns and ****.  If you don't the in-game music play your custom soundtrack or mute it.

I don't think this is true.  Need for Speed has a lot of rock, Forza 2 has a great mix of music.  I mean if you're talking games like Fight Night and Def Jam, then yes it will be mostly hip-hop... but in general I find most games have a well-balanced soundtrack.

Rappers like lupe fiasco, little brother, talib kweli and common? U need to look away from what the media feeds you like a fat kid and explore a bit more. Those artists i listed are in complete contrast to what you just wrote.Yet they barely get media attention while the muppets who have nothing to say get splashed all over the radio and tv. hmmmmmmm. wonder why. As for an ealier post that said if "minorities (what?)  prefered to listen to rap then they are all insane, lemme list some bands. sevendust and killswitch to name a few. im black and i listen to everything from linkin park, to p.o.d to sevendust to kanye west and its not because im a "minority" or not one. its cause i like em and nothing more. At the same time, it doesnt mean i automatically like 50 cent and gangsa rap cause im black. I cant stand g-rap because they have nothing to say. The world isnt anywhere near as black and white as some would assume. Media just projects the illusion that it is so.

All rappers respect in their lyrics is money and hoes.

For the people that think all rap is the same, here is a list (not that you'll be open minded enough to actually give the records a spin).  But seriously, you have to learn to "listen" to rap (good rap).  There are aspects to the music that you have to understand the history and dialect to appreciate it.

Common - Be
Common - Like water for chocolate
Talib Kweli - Reflection eternal (train of thought)
The roots - Illadelph Halflife
the roots - Phrenology
Little brother - the listening
Little brother - the minstrel show
Little brother - the chitlin circuit
Mos Def - Black on both sides
Mos def and Talib- Blackstar
Slum Village - Fan-Tas-Tic
Tribe Called Quest - Midnight Marauders
Jurassic 5  - Quality Control
Outkast - Aquemini
Outkast - ATLiens
Jurrasic 5 - Power in numbers
J-Live  - all of the above

Cant say very many games I play have rap in them.-.-' But you should think about how the game would work with a genre like...rock.Rock doesnt go with Def Jam,and it doesnt really go with sports games like Fight Night...rock goes more with something like DMC,Guitar Hero,Halo...certain music gets you into the feel of certain games better. But if you want rock in everything, then I guess thats your cup of tea.To say modern day rap sucks and rock doesnt...is an understatement.Rock is just as generic as rap is now adays.I do agree that both suck now, originality has run out.

Get with the times. Rock isn't popular with non-whites anymore.

because White Stripes owned all

yeah i hate rap, i find no enjoyment whatsoever in listening to people talk aobut being pimps, getting layed, and having spinny rims. just NO. (and if rap isnt all about that, how bout they dont talk to fast so you can understand them)

anyway reminder once again White Stripes new album June 19th BOOYA

I think there's not enough.

Through I agree that mainstream hip hop suck. Real hip hop is where it's at.

If only everyone else one here understood that :?

Yeah seriously. I tired of club bangin and gansta rap ruining hip hop image.

I would like too more good hip hop in games. Knuckles stages music in SA2B is the closest to that... from what I've heard.
