I hate to say it but I give credit to MS and 360

I have nothing against the 360, but I am getting frustrated with sony for not making some exclusive deals with some jrpg-developers(a hot topic, I know) or at least get in on the action(multiplat). I bought the ps3 for their previous history, basically their jrpgs, mgs and Team Ico but now I don't know, they seem to be losing their identity.

Companies have always been competing for exclusives since the begining of gaming. I mean people like systems with the most games. So why is it a problem to secure games for your platform while making it so the opposition doesn't gain them.

How the hell is a game bad because it's on a console. Last I checked 360 has the better multiplat games most of the time so it's not like the 360 has some aura of suck around it.

BTW, like the only developers who were "Saved" by Sony were Insomniac and Naughty Dog. Bungie and Bioware got into the whole console thing because of the Xbox and the 360 is helping out Mistwalker, so yeah.

This thought just occured to me while reading this thread, and in the wake of SO4's exclusivity and the other jrpg announcements. In all honesty, does Japan even get a claim on these styles of RPG's anymore? Anyone got some sales numbers comparing US and EU rpg sales to Japan?

As sick as it makes me feel to admit it, maybe these devs are starting to realize that the Wii ain't a fad. The Japanese just don't care anymore (save for Monster Hunter and DQ), and they're no longer where the majority of rpg sales go (assuming what I think to be true.) The genie's out of the bottle, its moved on to greener pastures, and the bottle doesn't want it back anyways. God, todays news has bummed me out :(

Sony has been seeking third party exclusives since it entered the business, and quite frankly, they wouldn't be alive in this business without them. The fact of the matter is, every hardware maker in the industry actively seeks them out. Without them, our consoles would be nigh indistinguishable. Without the third party exclusive muscle in the form of Gran Turismo, Final Fantasy, Tekken, GTA, and many more I don't feel like listing, Sony would've died out faster than you can say Dreamcast. Third party exclusives are what drive the industry.

To reinforce this point. Name to me the most popular PS3 games hitting the console in the near future. Oh wait, you don't have to, because I'll do it for you. Metal Gear Solid 4, Metal Gear Solid 4, and...oh yeah, Metal Gear Solid 4. Konami and Kojima Productions are third party developers are they not? A bit further down the line we have Final Fantasy XIII, Versus XIII, White Knight Story and Little Big Planet. All big name, far hyped third party exclusives. Don't come to me and say developers haven't been giving special treatment to Sony for years now since you'd be speaking lies of the highest order.
