I have a fully upgraded PC and have tried playing The Witcher and SC, but...

And yes i added a gig on the RAM count so you guys would say Noob or whatever because you hermits are very critical of your specs. So I thought I would pad them a tad to fit in. get the orange box and download a ton of mods for it....than you will understand what makes PC gaming so much better.

or try something like BF2, or COH, something you will never find similar to on a console.....

Unless a PC game allows me to use a gamepad mouse combo I don't really enjoy them. I hate using the keyboard, I always have and I always will. But if I can use a joystick mouse, or gamepad mouse, or something like the FX on the PS3 then it is all good.

I'm now playing Skies of Arcadia (got it from a friend) and the game is amazing.Gunraidan

So recently I upgraded my PC to a "capable" current gen gaming PC. GeForce 8800, 2 GB RAM, 250 GB HD, Athlon dual core, etc. etc. I decided to get the games that I thought would be most appealing to a longtime console gamer.

My experience was mixed. I enjoyed the multiplayer aspect of SC, but did not enjoy the lack of communication between me and the other competitors. I enjoyed the graphics, but was by no means blown away by either games visuals on medium settings. I have played these games for a total of 11 days. Since then I have decided that PC gaming is not for me. I have gone back to playing COD4 and DMC4 on my 360. I'm sorry but I don't understand the appeal of PC games, and I don't know if its just me or if PC gaming is missing something. My 2 year old son would come around and watch as I played 360, but he doesn't do that with PC. My best friend thinks I'm going to become a nerd soon. Does anybody else who has TRIED to get into PC gaming felt like this?

you'll have trouble getting consistent communication on ANY console, with ANY game, unless you game with friends - or mature people you've sought out.

go on to the games forums, ask for a match with people that like to talk. problem solved.

no game is randomly better at you having teammates that communicate.

All I can tell you is that some of my friends that play console games are absolutely blown away when they play my PC. They are in the worst kind of envy. Course I have a very very nice machine, but their delight is through the roof.MadExponent

Hmm...So PC Games make you nerdy and console games don't? I hope you don't apply that same logic in raising your child. Not every game is for everyone. I could never get into a game like DMC, it's the epitome of generic junk gaming.

You should pick up Crysis and World In Conflict if you bought an 8800. You can play all of them on High settings at high resolutions with your hardware. You should be able to play the Witcher with full settings, and same with SC.

Because its not rational.. He spent hundreds upon hundreds of dollars for this supposed machine, played 2 games.. A rpg and rts.. Not even AAA quality by this site.. Thats why I have been using Vista x64 Ultimate. It is FARRRRRR superior in every way to the 32-bit version. I have no clue why more people aren't using it.

yes i agree with you. he should play more games before he judges PC gaming. I'm not saying he's right, but when he says that PC gaming is more nerdy, maybe he's considering that PC gaming is more solo whereas console gaming is more likely to be social eg. splitscreen play. all i was trying to say was that he could be telling the truth and then we should be the ones to kindly advise him to play other games. Good enough that I am A+/MCSE/Linux/Cisco certified. A few years back I used to be a partner in a consulting firm here in Atlanta. I was in that for 6 years. I also did work for a team at GA Tech that was working on a brand new artificial heart. I was helping with the scaling on some of the internal sensors inside the heart. I have a MBA and I am a manager of a small bank in Atlanta. I am not some little kid just talking out of my ass.
