Exactly. The wide appeal of the console will ensure a huge success, no matter what quality of games are present on the console. I don't think casuals even know or care about GDC anyway. Any bad news will simply fly over them.

I think overall there are a lot of factors that Nintendo has to fix in order to make the Wii the next PS2 in terms of sales. They really need to ditch restrictions on what kinds of games developers make and get rid of a lot of those childish looking 3rd party titles (especially games based off Disney movies), or at least keep the number of those kinds of games down a fair bit. Online game play needs to be up and running by this summer and 3rd party devs should have games online compliant for when Nintendo officially launches the online service. Anyone who remembers the DS launch would know that it was popular right out of the gate, I think Nintendo console owners are going to be the same way and are begging for it now.

PS3 is a luxury system like BMW while the Wii is a cheap cheap cheap 1999 used Ford with tuned up engine.8)

The hardware is what holding the Wii back the most, not graphics.

I mean if any bad Wii news does happen to crop up at the GDC, for example a game delay or the recent Spore dev quote, it won't matter to the casuals at all. If the Wii is overshadowed by the PS3 and 360, it is -- like you say -- not necessarily bad news either.

Basically, if something disappointing is announced or shown on the Wii, it won't matter since I doubt the casual consumer even knows what GDC is, and therefore will not care. They will only be paying attention to the finished product instead of *****ing over a work in progress build or whatnot.

Nintendo is no where near what the PS3 or the 360 is at all. They shouldnt even be put in the same sentence becuase the Wii is not a next gen game system it might be nex gen interactivity with the controller but nothing else.xscrapzx

Wii, 360, PS3 are all considered next gen systems becasue they are the seventh installment of new systems. Which is the seventh generation of video games systems to come out. I say that Wii is not part of that title because they did nothing to improve graphics which all video game system do when they come out with a new system, and the gameplay is that much different from before. The real big difference with the Wii is that it has the interactive controller, but the rest of the system is that of the game cube. No real big jump in graphics at all and the system itself if you look at the specs are anything to really be like wow! They are simple and mediocre at best for what is supposed to be a next gen system. If you look at the spec for the 360 and the PS3 and compare them to the Wii. The Wii cant even touch those two systems at all in perfomace or graphics. xscrapzx

Now, this just doesn't make sense. First you say they should ditch restrictions on what kinds of games developers make, then you say they should make more restrictions to limit or lock out 'childish' games? For one thing, Nintendo hasn't placed any limitations on the games that developers make since the SNES days, or at least not restrictions out of line with Sony or MS. They learned that lesson with Mortal Kombat.

Sony's Home - I watched the trailer and It makes The whole "Mii" System look like a pile of crap. Now that PS3 basically has better looking, more interactive, and better designed Mii's who the hell wants to go back to Dreamcast graphics with their undealed horrible looking and badly design Miis ? No next generation means the next generations of game system. Like for example the first Nintendo, it then was proceeded by the Super Nintendo, then the next generation is the Nintendo 64 and so forth. Just like Playstation is the proceeded by the Playstation 2 and so forth. I'm just saying as history shows and the fact of New Generation systems are supposed to be more powerful, and better gameplay then that of their predecessor. If there not going to upgrade their stuff from the other system why make one at all? Thats what is disappointing I think in that Nintendo just upgraded the controller. I think that is sad coming from a great competitor in the gaming industry such as nintendo.
