If console exclusives are released on the pc, are they still a exclusive?

Sure it does. If a game is only coming out on one console then it holds an advantage for that console. That means the only other way you can get the game is if you have a gaming PC. There is an advantage to that.

The reasons he just gave. PS3's and 360's are cheap and ready to go out of the box. Your buddies can come over and play too, and you all have the exact same one at your house. There's alot of advantages consoles have in the market that you are overlooking. Doesn't mean they're more popular than pc's, they just have their place and its enough for some AAA sales.

You cant honestly say the Xbox didnt lose any sales due to how many of its titles were on the PC. I believe Halo sold over a million on the PC despite coming out late. That could've been many, many potential Xbox owners....I see that as directly effecting console sales. Or do you deny it?

And this is why people like to hide behind the whole "buh bu but I can get it on PC" argument. Because there's NO evidence or statistics that shows that this happens even enough to be relevant. If you could perhaps show me a game that was released on both PC and 360 simultaneously and the majority of copies sold on the PC, then maybe I can accept that argument that PC is detrimental to 360 sales. But personally I have a hard time believing that the MAJORITY of gamers that would normally buy a console would go to the videogame aisle, see a game that is on PC and decide, well, I'd rather spend 600.00 to upgrade my system and then go to the PC gaming aisle and pick up this game than buy a 400.00 console that I'm more likely to play because I've always played console.

The whole point of this Thread is so that there can be vailidation in adding games that are not exclusives into a thread where exclusives are battleing out. Its all silly. all this "console exclusives" is just some kinda means to brag about console you own.

Companies see exclusives for what they REALLY are. Leverage to bring in more userbase. "Console Exclusives" can do no such thing. Time Exclusive deals are even more important. As a gamer... I did not help sony out at all becuase I played FF7+8 on a PC. Oblivion and BioShock can be played on my PC... so what power does a "Console Exclusive" have? You cant just pretend like PC gaming is not an Option... Yes it is in direct compition with Consoles.

Having a title with cross platform gaming means that it has a potential for a larger user base, so yeah, it could have an effect on PS3.

Has nothing to do with how theres lots of people who havent picked up a 360 because only a tiny handful of worthwhile titles cant be played on their PC.

Bottom line guys is the data shows that more people buy console games than PC games. PERIOD. So if you want to go and say more people are going to not buy 360s because certain titles come from PC, you're wrong. More likely, looking at this data, you could make the argument that PC gamers have more to lose as there is a substantially more powerful console gamer market and people who have consoles will more likely buy console games than PC games.

The PC is not competing against all consoles at once, it's another gaming machine, just like the others. So in reality, it's competing with each individual machine.

You compare ONE console against the PC, and there are many cases where PC games are outselling the games on the one specific machine.  

u can say what u want, but i know as someone who has a core 2 duo e6300, x1900 gt, 2 gigs main memory (as well as a nice razer copperhead i got at a $40 discount), and an xbox 360 with xbl gold, i can say when looking at games like rainbow six vegas, graw, graw 2, splinter cell da, and ut 3, i didn't/not even consider(ing) buying any of these titles formy pc. the lone exception being maybe ut3, but i'm hooked on 360 version until the r600 comes out and at an affordable price. otherwise, its just not worth it for me to buy the pc version.

And Microsoft does not get paid for PC game. There are no licensing fees to be made. That's not really exclusive if you ask me.

Sorry, but the reality is that not everyone is going to play the pc version of a game. It doesn't even need to be that many people to make it worth the developers time. A few million is like a sales bonanza in terms of console games.

Uhm, an X1900 will give you 1280x1024, Full HDR, 16xHQ AF, great AA. Not to mention that the loading times on the PC version will blow away the Xbox 360.

Jericho, Bioshock, Crysis, Spore, Empire Earth III, Command and Conquer III, Supreme Commander, Lost Planet, Half Life 2 EP 2, Left 4 Dead, Portal.

2007 is full of "PC exclusives". I mean, if the term console exclusive applies, well then. I guess it works both ways now.

Man, all these PC EXCLUSIVES that I'll be enjoying this year

 

Jericho, Bioshock, Crysis, Spore, Empire Earth III, Command and Conquer III, Supreme Commander, Lost Planet, Half Life 2 EP 2, Left 4 Dead, Portal.

 

2007 is full of "PC exclusives". I mean, if the term console exclusive applies, well then. I guess it works both ways now.
