It's called an opinion. You know, it's not a fact that Half Life is better than Halo, it's just a common opinion. And Halo is going downhill.

No, I'm serious. It has?
I thought people finished the game once and then never looked at it again. Am I somehow wrong?
Half-Life is still widely played for its multiplayer mods from Team Fortress Classic, Counter Strike (which even with source out is still wildly popular), and other unique mods like Natural Selection.. Half-Life and Half-Life 2 both have immense communities.CS has a community, maybe. But not Half-Life. It's just not something you stick to...

You do realise that basically all gaming websites/journalism these days is catering for the console gamers. Nothing against console gamers personally, but their market is seen as the most common denominator, widely accessible market - resulting in "blockbuster" games getting rave reviews to please this market. It isn't bias, it's just marketing common sense.

Only played Halo1, okay game but the level design really bugged me. The pacing and level design in Half-life 1 and 2 is superb. Gameplay vise they're both pretty basic stuff but extremely polished, which puts them among the best of their respective (original) platforms. Neither gets points for the story but HL does for the way the story is conveyed. HL1 for its time was the more innovative title. HL is the better game for me. But I also think the only fair comparison is HL2 vs Halo2 since they were released around the same time, and I haven't played H2.ManicAce
HL2 completely annihilates halo 2 since Imo that was the worse in the series.

Did you actually just rely on calling Team Fortress "kiddy"? Not mentioning the first mod and Team Fortress Classic's realistic art style, naturally. Besides - calling TF2 non-serious is just a blatant, uninformed statement. Have you ever played in a professional league for either Halo or TF2? Hell, go youtube some videos of CPL for halo or etf2l/esl for TF2 - TF2 is miles more intense, incredibly serious and actually requires a team to win.
And you don't seem to get the point that BEFORE halo, console standards were low. Along comes halo whilst these lower standards are in place - and it gets a high score.
If it was released on the PC at the same time, with the PC's higher standards for FPS (because you are right - Halo revolutionised console FPS's, only because they were lame in the first place, save Goldeneye) it wouldn't have scored nearly as high.

Read and yell out of sorrow and anger.
Hermits are the most annoying section of SW - can't accept that their "god-like" Half-Life got owned by Halo in scores and continues to fight back with weak arguments even if there is good proof that CE is excellet. Ign stated Halo changed the way FPSs are going to be measured. GS called it one of the greatest games ever. On its wiki, it said it's one of the most important and best games ever.
ACCEPT FACTS, HERMITES.
Halo is a great game. I could certainly accept that it is one of the best shooters on any platform. But the fact is that despite this, it scored lower than Half Life on the same platform. It can be one of the best with a 9, but Half Life is still higher up in the echelon. And Team Fortress and Counter Strike are more influential, much better made, more fun, MUCH deeper, and just overall better experiences that Halo's comparatively shallow multiplayer.I'm a huge pc gamer and have been for years. I'd choose Halo over Halflife and I know many people will think I'm crazy, but it's w/e. I never found what was so amazing about HL at all. It's probably one of the most boring FPS I have ever played that got such amazing reviews. Also I absolutely HATE must characters. It takes away from the experience completely. I also hate how PC fanboys completely act as if it's the god fps. It's decent at best, but people will continue to consider it godly mainly because the original was released when it was one of the fps to stand out of the crowd.
Both are mods for Half-Life. Both are incredible, and much better than Halo's multiplayer.[QUOTE="pyromaniac223"][QUOTE="SODRChief"]
Lol, CS is boring and CS = / = Half-Life.
Neither does Team Fortress have anything on Halo. It's a kiddy and relatively non-serious MP game.
SODRChief
Not even CLOSE to Halo's MP.
Did you even play TF? I kinda doubt it, since you call it kiddy and a non-serious MP, which is so not true.
