[QUOTE="kuraimen"]The fact that the 360 is on there makes it a joke list.todd2rIt's a joke because, let me guess, your beloved ps3 isn't on it? That's beyond the point I'd say it goes more like... 1. PS2 2. NES 3. PS1 4. SNES 5. PS3 6. N64 7. Atari 2600 8. Sega Genesis 9. Xbox 360 10. Wii
[QUOTE="princeofshapeir"]Wii shouldn't be on that list. Replace it with PS3.mems_1224wii>ps3 better exclusives debatable. PS3 = better hardware, better service, better online, better features = better console

I like that list but personally I would lower NES, put PS3 over the 360 (really I would be a smart ass and tie them since they're the same console anyway), remove the N64 period and maybe put the original Xbox on there. I would leave the Wii at 10, I personally think it deserves a spot on there.

Your list is actually agreeable to me but I don't really think the NES being over the SNES is fair. The NES is legendary and lots of its games aged really well but the SNES has a much better library with equally if not more classics.
[QUOTE="ActionRemix"][QUOTE="princeofshapeir"] N64 deserves to be in the top ten solely because of exclusives. princeofshapeirLike Sony with the PS3, Nintendo lost A LOT of important potential exclusives to a rival console because of their own arrogance or ignorance. Square and Konami would have likely made their games for the N64 or at the very least multiplat them if they went with cartridges and built onto the SNES controller instead of releasing that monstrosity. The good games on the N64 were mostly first-party and as far as library goes, even the Gamecube's library kills the N64's. still, N64: zelda: oot and majora's mask, super mario 64, goldeneye 007, perfect dark, banjo kazooie, super smash bros., star fox 64, paper mario, mario kart 64, kirby 64, donkey kong 64, f-zero x, paper mario games, and many more i can't think of right now. i mean, a console home to OoT and super mario 64 deserves a place on the list, easily.
I disagree frankly, every system to ever exist has 25 games easily that could justify the purchase of the system exclusive or multiplat and the regular person will not play 25 titles frankly. I a) don't think N64 games aged well and frankly, when the next gen came most PS1/N64 games just got far surpassed. JRPGs and Platformers excluded basically. Yeah OoT, MM and Paper MArio are still gems but I mean I haven't seen games age as badly as they have on the PS1 and N64. Now what I don't get is how the Genesis isn't worthy. Should it be low? Yes. Should it be on? I don't have a problem with it being there.

i actually don't think any of the games i listed have aged very badly at all. in fact, more PS1 games have aged far worse (the original MGS, for example, is far more dated than OoT in terms of controls and gameplay). games like f-zero x, super smash bros, and kirby 64 are all still very polished and playable. That's beyond the point I'd say it goes more like... 1. I actually don't know what's better out of the NES and SNES, but NES did have the first Zelda, first Metroid, first and second Metal Gear and Super Mario Bros and the 2D platformer perfection Super Mario Bros 3, first Ninja Gaiden, among others.[QUOTE="ActicEdge"][QUOTE="princeofshapeir"] still, N64: zelda: oot and majora's mask, super mario 64, goldeneye 007, perfect dark, banjo kazooie, super smash bros., star fox 64, paper mario, mario kart 64, kirby 64, donkey kong 64, f-zero x, paper mario games, and many more i can't think of right now. i mean, a console home to OoT and super mario 64 deserves a place on the list, easily.princeofshapeir

Crash Team Racing was far better for example. Super Smash bros is just outdated now that Melee exists. Goldeneye and perfect dark are waaaay outdated. Kirby 64 is still solid though I agree. As a whole I just don't think the games are that great. Frankly when I compare SNES first party Nintendo gmes to N64 N64 get revolutionary but SNES gets just plain better as a whole.
I don't think many people are gonna wonder why the Gamecube isn't on the list...What people are going to say:
Sheep: Why is the Gamecube not on this list?
Cows: Why is the PS3 not on this list?
Lemmings: Why is the first Xbox not on this list?
Hermits: Why is the PC not on this list?

Why did you add a 'no' at the Genesis? Don't you ever do that to the 3rd greatest console of all times.
Here's the reason behind the position of my list:
1 - PS2: single largest library of quality exclusives by a landslide, also best selling console, by a landslide
2 - NES: Basically every major franchise had its roots here. (Metal Gear technically launched on MSX1/2, but common who had one of those)
3 - PS1: Mini-PS2, didn't have quite as a big of a library or sales, but pretty close on both regards
4 - SNES: Similar to the NES, while the NES was more of a debut console for the franchises, most of the quality sequels ended up on this console
5 - PS3: Metal Gear Solid4, nuff said
6 - Nintendo 64: Zelda OOT, Super Mario 64, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark... Yeah nuff said here too.
The rest aren't in the same league as these 6, IMO.
Wii is on the list and ps3 isnt? 360 is better than ps1? wtf kind of list is this? is IGN a troll site?sethman410Yeah, a console that didn't really do much the 360 didn't isn't on the list. What a surprise. And the Wii, a console that changed the industry, is.

I played NES, Genesis, SNES, PS1, N64, Dreamcast, PS2, GCN, Xbox, Xbox 360, Wii, and PS3 (In that order) and the Gamecube is my favorite system of all time.
i wouldnt put the 360 in the top ten. i think the 360's massive failure rate (by far the highest of any of the consoles on the list) should take it down quite a few notches. hardware reliability is an important factor.
arbitor365
It has been taken down for that. It would be higher if it had less failure rate.
It had excellent online service, amazing updates to the whole system, which actually has changed the potential of consoles, great library etc

Your favorite =//= the best It might have your favoritie games but try to look at it from an objective perspective. The PS2 just had way more good games in more genres, the Gamecube wasn't even the best console of it's own generation. And the SNES and N64 had more Nintendo fan favorites and more genre defining games. The Gamecube wasn't even the best Nintendo console.I just realized that it doesn't make sense to include the 360 and not PS3 ... they're basically even, the PS3 actually delivered more quality exclusives too.
Wii changed the industry, PS3 hasn't. Get over it people

the sega CD changed the industry too. that doesnt make it great

I can agree 5 of those deserve to be on the list. I think overall library is important too though and I think the N64 even lacked over the Cube in that department. I mean for Cube I can do, Zelda WW, Smash Bros Melee, Metroid Prime and Paper Mario TYD and it equals the same thing except those games will not age like crap.

The Wii changed the industry in a substantial way, and was a decent console. PS3 has done nothing significant

At least it's better than the 32x, there's like 10 incredibly good games on the sega CD that is worthy to get that add on for, and some definite versions of older games (like Final Fight CD and Earthworm Jim).
