they should pick up both, no question.

Most can not afford $120 in the same month for games....So they will only pick up one or the other right now
Plus the amount of time it takes to beat those games is another fact why they would only choose one right now
I expected AA at least, still day 1 for me.
7.5 Presentation
The story is engaging and while it does rely on many standards, there are some unique elements that help it stand out. Mysterious lack of voice dialogue in 20% of cut-scenes boggles the mind.
7.0 Graphics
There are moments when Infinite Undiscovery looks really good. In fact, you can really appreciate the detail when the framerate slows to a crawl. The character design is forgettable.
7.0 Sound
No Japanese voice option and average American voices will leave many unhappy. The score is one of the bright spots.
7.5 Gameplay
The real-time combat system is simple and enjoyable, but the Connect Attacks don't work well and there are far too many characters to manage for an RPG this short.
7.0 Lasting Appeal
For an RPG, this is a pretty brief experience. Doing everything may take you 35 hours, but the side quests are often so boring, it's a struggle to do it all.
Looks like this is getting a 5.0 on Gamespot. IGN gave Too Human a 7.8 and Gamespot gave it a 5.5. Oh well, day one buy for me. BioShockOwnz
Nah, doesn't always work like that. IGN gave God Hand a three, Gamespot gave it an eight. Gamespot also scored Riddick higher than IGN last gen. Gamespot doesn't ALWAYS score lower than IGN.

i never said they should buy it the same time. you should own both in the end, not right now.
Hahaha, "only half makes sense and only when you squint your brain."
I'd already written the game off based on its name alone. I might give it a rental due to the whole chained moon storyline, which is admittedly cool, but the rest of it seems pretty boring by comparison.

There were threads up like last week about which one of the 3 big JRPGS coming out should someone buy "this week". By the scores of all three this should end that debate.
Not saying anything about going back latter and getting them. Myself I will wait for all of them to come down and price, then I will pick them up used.
Another great game for the RPG King 360!!
SolidGame_basic
A good/decent RPG is better then no RPG at all, Lost Odyssey got a 7.5 and it is still a really engaging game. Shame that you write off anything below a certain score level.

[QUOTE="carlisledavid79"]Whats the hype for this again, im guessing AA ?Cyberfairy
it never had a hype-level.
Oh ok lol. Well it looks good in my opinion so between 7.0 and 8.0 here at gamespot would be my guess.
People complain about 35 hours, really? RPG's need to get down around 20 hours.BioShockOwnz
That depends on the game, and what it's trying to accomplish. But this idea that if IU had five more hours of filler it would somehow be SO MUCH BETTER is pretty goofy. If it's a good experience on the whole, it's good enough for me. Man, to live in an age when thirty five hours is considered short, who woulda thunk it? Do people not remember just how short absolute genre darlings like Chrono Trigger actually were?

Not sure I would say "really engaging." I think I would label Lost Odyssey as having a main character that is actually pretty cool but is surrounded by a bunch of nitwits I could care less about while hiding its load times with a panning battle camera that feels you should take in every bit of the architecture and watch a choreographed dance done by your party before combat can start. Which is to say its enjoyable but not as good as it should have been.

Because someone can't afford two games in one month they should not be gaming? That is a really, really stupid thing to say.

IU is more action paced and the dungeons has more then just "run through, kill enemies, find chests, kill boss". it's still pretty low but eternal sonata was hell of a lot shorter and had no replay-value at all. i don't know how that game could have scored an 8.5 tbh.

No it's not, gaming is expensive.
I dont really care, ill still be picking it up. Lost Odyssey didnt do too well either, yet im loving it.-DrRobotnik-
Ditto! Lost Odyssey is a masterpiece for me. I love the steampunk inspired environment, touching story, and it has some of the best characters in a JRPG. Seth and Jansen are my favs. Not to mention, it has one kick butt opening scene. I also love the ring system.

Who has time to play multiple games a month with a job and social life? Just wondering...
I buy more games than most people here, but I only finish about one a month.
I did not realize games went bad like food. If you don't buy them right away you may never get the chance. All that is beside the point that, it really is a stupid thing to say.
Something tells me you are spending your parents money anyway.
What about if I don't feel like buying two games in one month? Or how about this, I will go two or three months without buying a new game. I guess I should not be gaming.
I can not believe people like you exist even though I see it every day. It is still a shock every time, though.
I will give you credit and say it is just a troll post, 8/10.

Yes, you can wait. Then you'll just be gaming in another year. Why would someone want to be gaming in 2009 when they could experience gaming in 2006?
An avid gamer (crazy as this might sound) spends money to get the games. New games on release.

It takes me forever to finish a JRPG unless I get snowed in during the winter for a few days or something.
But I am surprised people are not giving that comment the proper "you are totally ignorant" response it deserves.

I guess I ment by parts of the story and many of the side stories, I have never really been that emotionally moved by story telling in a game. Some of the times, I had to stop playing the game because it made me quite sad. I'm more of an emotional person then most by the way.
Most of the characters weren't that great and the combat was a blast from the past, but I figured that it would be as such and it never really bothered me. For the most part JRPGs have the "idiot", the "clown", and the "not sure what is going on but I want to help!" people in them. Sometimes those characters are all the same guy and sometimes they are three different people.
JRPGs that have scored higher then Lost Odyssey have yet to tug on my emotions with a game like LO did. Sure there are more engaging JRPGs out there but so faron this gen, I have yet to see it.
People complain about 35 hours, really? RPG's need to get down around 20 hours.BioShockOwnz
In my opinion, 20 or 35 hours isn't a great amount for an RPG, including everything there is to do. Most RPGs in this range end up having forced character development, shallow storyline and meaningess side quests.
But again, that's just my opinion on the matter. I'm sure there's plenty of people out there who like it short and sweet. Nothing wrong with that.

No, obsessed gamers buy everything right when it comes out. I have been gaming for over 20 years but I never let it control my life.]
Besides, I am playing JRPG's from the ps2 era, well before 2006, and I love them. I guess I am not an avid gamer.

Same. I find myself talking about games more than playing them, because at work I can surf the forums, but I can't play games. I take a long time to finish RPG's, usually a couple months. Normal games, like Mercs 2, will probably take me a month.

The complaint in the review was that the game was too short to get in depth for everything in the game. The reviewer didn't even notice some of his party members existed until they wound up in cutscenes at the end.

I have done a really good job of staying away from forums this summer. While at home and while at work. I am also really into everything that is post DC era. I loved the DC but gaming before that gets a little to much for me. But last generations RPG's will never die as far as I am concerned.

No, that's why they make other games
New games come to play when you're done with the old ones.
That's why they keep on releasing games, even in the same genre.

Yeah, the majority of RPG's wear me out if they extend past 25 hours. I usually just toss them on the shelf at that point, unless they engage me with the characters and story, like Lost Odyssey, but that's rare.

Are all your close to 18k posts filled with such garbage? You are either an expert troll or one of the worst posters SW has ever seen. Either way, great job!
