Is it fair to compare the $400 dollar PS3 to the $200 360?

I have to say I see people saying how 360 is the cheapest system comparing it to the PS3 and what not.

I mean let's break it down.

for $400 somalians you get an 80 gig hard drive.

Wi-fi

Recharagable Blue-tooth controllers

Blu-ray.

Do these things justify the cost of the PS3. I mean features are important parts of consoles are they not?

Now for $200 dollars you get

an xbox 360

A wireless controller

an internal 256 memory.

Now despite that regardless the 360 still plays games. If your an avid gamer like ourselves here we all know it wouldnt last a week let alone a whole generation without having to delete files and who wants to do that.

In all honest I feel in order to get the full 360 expierience you need a hard drive. I mean Downloadable titles/DLC/ Videos/Music etc. etc.

So in all honest is it fair to compare the $400 dollar PS3 to the $200 dollar 360. When the 360 is severly gimped in features for that price?

Why not? You don't need a HDD to play the games, just because you think people need a HDD doesn't dictate that people do -- in fact -- need one. ;)

I'd prefer to compare the Pro to the PS3, add in Live and it's $350 vs $400. That way you get virtually the same experience (HDD & online) and it's still slightly cheaper. To answer your question I guess it's still "fair", yes.

Gamers don't want Gimmicks

They want games.

For 200 dollars, the quality and variety of the 360 is unmatched for what it offers.

Lemmings like to put on their casual hats when comparing price points. I'd like to see a single one of you lemmings that bought an arcade for 200 bucks and has been gaming on it without wasting any more money on the console. Why argue for the casual in a place called "System Wars"?

I prefer believing in unicorns and bigfoot . . .Facts are facts. $200 vs. $400. There are tons of computers that might seem like a "better deal" even if they're more expensive, but what's the best selling PC market right now? Netbooks.

Plain and simple. 360 = least expensive console out there. Period. PS3 = best bang for your buck for features.

Games and what you are willing to spend for a console is at your own discretion. Period the end.

I think the arcade is there to make the price point look more appealing. When in the market I really found the arcade very unappealing. But there is a huge gap in price between that and the Pro. The pro should be no more than $250 IMO, the only difference between that and the arcade is a 60gb hard drive and a wired headset :?

With that said $300 is still a lot less than $400

Well it depends what you use it for, I actually own 2 360s. An elite and a second hand Arcade (got it for £30!! of a mate of mine when he decided it was crap and bought an elite). The arcade is hooked up to a (not too shabby 26") SDTV is my other room (got THAT for £10 from a chariey shop, must go trawling sometime again i need a SNES) and serves my purposes just fine. For those with a basic HDTV, no desire to play seriously on-line or play demos, just play games then the arcade is OK. [Dam this makes me look cheap :P)

Actually that's a piece of advice to those none 360 owners, second hand they can go cheaper than a game under the right circumstances. If you want to cheack out some exclusives then this is the way to go if you really have no cash.

Here is a link to the back of the Mass Effect game showing to save all that is needed is 4mb of space. Animal mother thought for sure Mass Effect 2 had to have a hard drive to save it so I looked this up

and then theres all the lemmings who are saying you have to install too so i dont know who to believe.

Average save game file is less than 1 MB. And I have a friend that hasn't gotten 1 piece of DLC yet since owning his 360 (over a year now). He doesn't even have it hooked up to XBL.

I Still find it pointless to be argueing for the "ignorant" so to speak, every single person on this forum is a gamer, our discussions should revolve around what's best for our gaming needs and not what the mindless masses do or want. This place is turning into "Business Wars".

First off, it's "simoleons", not "Somalians". Simoleons is slang for dollar, Somalians are citizens of the country of Somalia.

Anyway, no it isn't fair, but it's better than the alternative (which would be those ridiculous Sony price comparisons).

Not everybody plays online. My friend has an Arcade and he's perfectly content to play Mass Effect, Fallout 3, and Halo 3 for only $200. With 512MB of internal storage you could easily fit a couple arcade games on there as well.

Also, you can buy a used 20GB HDD for $40.

[QUOTE="stylesPS3"][QUOTE="Stevo_the_gamer"]Why not? You don't need a HDD to play the games, just because you think people need a HDD doesn't dictate that people do -- in fact -- need one. ;)che5ter666

you do if you want to play forza 3.

No, sorry mate your wrong. The 2nd disc is for the extra content. Forza 3 can be played with just the first disc.

and your fellow lemming in the other thread just said the 1st disc is used for install, and the 2nd disc is used for playing. how about some proof so we dont keep getting this back and forth info.

The burden of proof is on your hands, not his. You were the first person to make that declarative with no factual evidence, I'm still waiting on a credible link which states that in order to play Forza 3, it's mandatory to have a HDD.
