So, this is another of the myriads of Crysis threads.

If that's not your intent, it's most certainly can happen.

Of course, I may have just changed history with my post, for the good.:P

There

Power supply-BFG 550W - $50

CPu-Athlon 2 x3 2,7 GHZ ( triple core ) - $72

Mobo-Asrock Am3 with 2 PC-X x16 slots for sli/crossfire - $60

Vga-Sapphire Ati 5670- $93 Great mainstream vga that can play most games even at 1080p

RAM-Kingston 2GB DDR3 1333 - $53

HD -250GB seagate $45

Case- Gigabyte - $27

Add $10-15 for a keyboard and mouse and you are set

much better than consoles and only $400 ( 410-420 with a KB+M )

You dont need a dvd drive just use various DD services

replace the hd5670 with the gt240 for $60

theres a slight dip in performance but its still more powerful than a console for $30 less.

Done and done, I believe I got all the necessary components for a computer correct? I'm pretty sure if the Playstation 3 can run Killzone 2, this setup could run Killzone 2.

By the way, I haven't spent a good amount of time researching different hardware and what is better than what, so I'm a bit rusty on that subject, I did this in like five minutes to prove you wrong.

Seeing as how Killzone 2 is a PS3 game, you won't ever be able to build a PC that could run it.

But if you wish, almost any computer built from 2006 onwards should be able to run STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl at least at medium-high settings and that is easily a better looking game than anything the 360 or PS3 offer.

Impossible for 400 dollars. After you buy a copy of windows, you would not have enough money to build a PC as powerful as the PS3. Heck, my power supply in my computer cost almost 400 dollars.

I included a rig with the case, at any rate you could also gut your current computer and put in the new compenents, again re-use the old DVD-Drive, but I included a rig with one, Windows use your old copy, keyboard and mouse you already have. :)

I only listed the main gaming components, the rest is pretty cheap. Also, this setup could actually run Killzone 2 very well.

Assuming he already has a monitor in his PC,you can get a decent case for less than 40$(i didn´t mentioned one because it´s basically a personal choice). Mouse and key you can get both for 10/15$ each.Drives are super cheap these days as well.

He would probably spend more 100$ and get the complete setup.

Except for the fact you could buy a computer built with 2007 technology and have it perform much better than the PS3, given the PS3 is about as powerful as a medium-level pre-built PC from early 2006. Even modern pre-buits could walk all over what the PS3 can do.

Problem is your trying to make a pc that can handle a game which a $299 console can do. It doesn't matter if you can borrow parts because that's not what the topic is about. If borrowing parts count then you might as well take the price of the previous pc build and add it to the new 1. It's also funny how most people posting rigs will post rigs made from parts that they know they would never use in their lives. Half of those parts would probably die in a week. This build actually had a good quality motherboard, but the other 1 listed here has a motherboard I wouldn't trust for anything.

Any $300-400 pre-built PC released on the market today could easily handle games like Killzone 2 and not even bat an eye (they could also probably run Crysis very respectably). The technology that is running KZ2 is from 2006, it is 2010 and even pre-builts are getting some serious hardware power.

Any $300-400 pre-built PC released on the market today could easily handle games like Killzone 2 and not even bat an eye (they could also probably run Crysis very respectably). The technology that is running KZ2 is from 2006, it is 2010 and even pre-builts are getting some serious hardware power.

roflmao no way. even latest alienware pcs would have a hard time running killzone 2.

[QUOTE="bigblunt537"]Problem is your trying to make a pc that can handle a game which a $299 console can do.

[QUOTE="djsifer01"]Impossible for 400 dollars. After you buy a copy of windows, you would not have enough money to build a PC as powerful as the PS3. Heck, my power supply in my computer cost almost 400 dollars. Arach666

What´s your PS?

i feel like its gonna be a ps_john moment except this time hes gonna try to prove to us that he has a gaming pc.

Of course. My 4 year old can run this just fine. At 720p it's a joke.

I issue a challenge

Show me that you can build a 400$ PC that runs games as graphically amazing as Killzone 2

adamosmaki

Like Radeon HD 5670, Radon HD 5570 still includes 400 SPs and it's cheaper.

http://research.scea.com/ps3_deferred_shading.pdf

5 SPEs = 20 pipeline enabled G70. To beat PS3, you need a GPU that would beat two cutdown G70s i.e. Geforce 8800 GT would do the trick.

I'm curious: how well does that machine run games without Windows?

Seeing as how Killzone 2 is a PS3 game, you won't ever be able to build a PC that could run it.

foxhound_fox

This is the truth.

Linux + Wine = Gaming
