Is Naughty Dog officialy = to Bioware, Blizzard, and Valve ELITENESS?

Naughty Dog has just won a total of 10 AIAS awards Thursday night (I think that is a record), including the most coveted GAME OF THE YEAR as well. For those of you who are unaware, the AIAS awards are the video game industy's equivalent of an OSCAR award. interactive.org/awards/annual_awards.asp?idAward=2010

Not only that, but Currently, Naughty Dog's game, Uncharted 2, is the current benchmark for console graphics tech....The King for all console games, which was previously held by fine games: Killzone 2, Uncharted 1, and even Gears Of War 1. But currently, Uncharted 2 is the Pinnacle and crowning point achievement for console graphics technology.

Not only that, but Naughty Dog has been around for a long time. They've been making great and AAA games in various genres for nearly 25 years :o . RING OF POWER(Genesis cult clasic rpg), CRASH BANDICOOT (AAA quality Platformer and 1 Kart racer...over 40 million lifetime units sold), Jak And Daxter (Action-Platformer), and currently Uncharted (Action Adventure).

So, with their impressive resume and recent victories (over 150 Uncharted 2 game awards for 2009 so far), wouldn't this qualify Naughty Dog as an Elite GAME DEVELOPER (highlighted for a reason..for context, Game Dev only), equivalent to the likes of Bioware, Blizzard and Valve? (I think Valves waaayy overrated, but we'll save that for a different topic).

I would say yes, but I would have to put Blizzard on another level though. They release a game every 100 years, but I'm pretty sure all their games are AAA (Diablo is still the highest scoring PC game here).

No, not quite, they are close though but aside from uncharted 2 they don't really have anything putting them on the map. (I like crash though :D), but really they don't.

No, I don't think they come close to that level, but they are still good regardless.

i put ND above all of them expect Blizzard...they were always one of the greats.

Crash Bandicoot was a Great AAA platformer. It actually served as Playstations premier game and mascot for a while. I think alot of people just forget.

edit: Given the fact that Half Life (also halo to a lesser extent) is the standard of which all FPS shooters compare themselves too, whereas Uncharted 2's influence can still be put in doubt. It's understandable that some people feel valve is ahead of ND.

Lol. No.

Counter-Strike, Team Fortress 2, Half-Life, Half-Life 2, Episode 1, Episode 2, and Portal.

None are "mods" (well, maybe CS) of Half-Life. Source is an ENGINE.:lol:

No, there games are great no doubt but still not to that elite level. also i don't think bioware deserves to be on that list just yet. Blizzard and valve are unquestioned masters of their craft and no one really even comes close

Bioware,Valve, Naughty Dog and Blizzard are all over-rated in my opinion.

The greats for me are:

Black Isle- RPG

Egosoft- Space Sim

Insomaniac- Platformer

Creative Assembly and Firaxis Games- Strategy

GSC Game World- FPS

Criterion Games-Racing

They will be soon. Uncharted isnt enough for ND to be considered elite despite how great it was. Wait for another great game or an amazing Uncharted 3. Then maybe.

Half Life 2 did....but Valve makes a whole bunch of mods. TF2 is a mod. Portal is a mod. L4D is a "sophisticated mod, but mod nonetheless". L4D2.....money grab mod, lol.

I consider Valve very lazy, complacent, and even slothful (where's EP3?)

That's absolutely lovely. But you said WoW hadn't won a GoTY when, in fact, it did.

And who cares? One game doesn't launch you into the pantheon of game devs.

Lets see

Blizzard SC, WC1, WC2 and WOW These games influenced the RTS market and turned them mainstream and competitive. WOW I dont even need to explain it

Valve: HL2 first real physics engine, has a multiitude of AAA titles, shaped the FPS market into what it is now, Counterstrike took competitive gaming to a whole new level. Created Steam probably where most PC games are bought today

Bioware: Created top of the line RPGs from balders gate to Dragonage, has consistently put out good AAA rpgs. Has kept western rpgs alive

Naughty Dog: uh crash banticoot? Its safe to say uncharted has not brought anything to new to the table, sure its GFX are the best on consoles, but Crytek is not praised as the greatest dev for making Crysis. I have played both uncharted games Uncharted= tombraider.
