No way. I'm a Nintendo fan, but lately, I've been spending way more time playing DDO on my PC than my Nintendo games. I sort-of feel bad for neglecting my Wii :o

Judging by FF13 and FF14 I would rathre FF14 anyway thanks...Birdy09Ehh, i dunno if FFXIV is worth the monthly fees. Besides, the PC desperately needs a current-generation singleplayer Final Fantasy game, as well as Kingdom Hearts 3. No, 13's plot and Characters looks lame, I would rather take a revised MMO that would last me months or even a year over these single player dying JRPGs.

*Looks at his superior versions of most big console hits + a wide range of games consoles can't even dream of running*
Y'all should listen to this guy, he really knows his stuff.
still though, the PC will always get console ports, so it probably won't die out completely :) take heart, fair hermits!Jandurin
Yes, it has been nice watching console users beta testing the rubbish version of games. It is because of folk like you that I get to play it as the developer intended. Thanks!

So many engrossing PC exclusives that I almost forget about the casual market sometimes.
Boy, I really hope the pc isn't dying. I don't want to be stuck with console games. Don't get me wrong, I like console games. I like nhl 10, I like halo wars, and I like a lot of others. But I still need my Empire: Total War and my Crysis. And my mods and level editors too.

Not surprising. Sims 3 is very engrossing, I hear. Hard to spend time doing anything else. Except for intermittent rousing games of Solitaire![QUOTE="James161324"]

I gave Halo Wars a fair shot and hated it. Turn-based strategies work fine on consoles but RTS often end up being annoying. However it should be noted that Halo Wars outsold Dawn of War 2 by a fair margin. PC gaming isn't dying but it certainly doesn't have the same market clout that it once had. Some pc genres have gone from healthy to pretty much dead like sports.Diablo 3 and starcraft 2 are both probably 2010 games, how can a system with 2 of the most anticipated exclusives in like the last 10 years be rdy to die? lulz FF13?!? seriously? Both diablo and starcraft will still be played by millions of gamers into the next gen of consoles when whatever console game is this holidays hit is looooong forgotten, seriously these games are played for 5+ years, 1 is a the greatest E- sport in the world, and there only on 1 system.

But on a brighter note there will be plenty of games for all platforms in 2010.dc337
Notice the "Halo" part in "Halo Wars". If it wasn't there, we wouldn't even know the game ever existed.
Sadly, the Halo community is that bad.

Not surprising. Sims 3 is very engrossing, I hear. Hard to spend time doing anything else. Except for intermittent rousing games of Solitaire!I'm sure it would be that way for you if you played them. You could even graduate from consoles to PC and still find casual stuff you'll enjoy. I'm too busy enjoying my campaign in Empire: Total War to be worried about what you'l be playing though sorry.
That said though i'll be breaking out my 360 for a spin on the low res Forza 3. Great game and its graphics remind me of the old days ;).
I second this list. Just like every year pc has more games coming in 2010 again when compared to consoles Also if this is the way the pc is dying ( cheaper hardware than before, cheaper games, more games, more places to buy our games since DD is becoming mainstream for pc gaming, able to find a 15year old pc game on GOG and run it perfectly on my PC, more AAE and AAAE every year, more games to choose from, capcom and other previously console inly software companies bringing their titles on PC) i'm glad is dying the past 20 yearsThis

Better dated graphics than dated gameplay. At least the console controllers evolve. Still playing with a keyboard and mouse? That's so 1990.That said though i'll be breaking out my 360 for a spin on the low res Forza 3. Great game and its graphics remind me of the old days ;).

No, using an arcade stick was 1990s.[QUOTE="1080pOnly"]Better dated graphics than dated gameplay. At least the console controllers evolve. Still playing with a keyboard and mouse? the keyboard and mouse won't become outdated for many PC games because believe it or not, games play BETTER then their console counterparts when it comes to shooters, both first person and third, and RPGs, probably other genres too
the best controller you can get on consoles are the standard ones, but with PC you have many more options, and most are superior to console controllers.
also i dont see console controllers "evolving" that much. the ps3 controller is identical to the ps2 and ps1 controller(when the ps1 got the joysticks). xbox 360 is similar to the playstation controllers as well.
You cannot kill PC gaming because there is no one to kill. PC gaming has no owner; it has no Microsoft, Sony or Nintendo that would take the platform down with them. Even if Microsoft were to go they would simply take Windows with them, OpenGL would take over after DirectX and everyone would keep gaming on a different OS.
PC gaming, regardless of the form it takes, is the only platform capable of surviving a full industry crash. As long as there are PC users there will be PC gamers; and as long as there are gamers looking for games there will be business more than happy to cater to those consumers.
really a full industry crash? Come off it. Nintendo is going nowhere, and I don't believe both MS and Sony will pull out, regardless. Sure, a few of the development/publishing companies have gotten too big, and they'll have problems, but come on.full industry crash

And that wins it. Discussion over. Nothing to see here, people.
A lot of those games were on his list of reasons to be a pc gamer in 2009.I don't care. This isn't a discussion about 2010. This is a discussion about whether or not pc gaming is dying. That's a great list. I'm really excited about a lot of those games, and I'm incredibly happy that I have a gaming pc that will let me play them. If you can look at that list and still say with a straight face that pc gaming is dying, then you're probably just butthurt about not having a pc.

oh, well that's fair enough seeing as the PC is used for things not gaming, and games will always be available for it.[QUOTE="Noverech"]also i dont see console controllers "evolving" that much. the ps3 controller is identical to the ps2 and ps1 controller(when the ps1 got the joysticks). xbox 360 is similar to the playstation controllers as well.dc337
i might have not made myself clear, while i do believe that the xbox controller changed from the original xbox to the 360, i was talking about how the 360 controller is not too different from the ps1-ps3 controllers.
i edited my original post
PC gaming isn't as strong as it used to be, an admission I'm sure dc337 is delighted about, but if people think consoles gaming is as strong/stronger they are kidding themselves.
I don't think we are ever going to see a console as strong as the PS2 again. The PS2 was the console market leader because it had the majority of the 3rd party developer support, it had most of the good games in other words. That doesn't happen anymore, everyone who is 3rd party and staying up to date ends up going cross platform to accommodate today's costs. Another PS2 cannot exist again, the quality standards demanded from current generation games simply makes it none cost effective for any company wishing to stay profitable.
The Wii had the right idea in this sense, even though I despise its motion controller gimmick. By using weak hardware it is keeping the cost to make games low, with low costs 3rd party developers can justify staying exclusive to one platform. The same goes for handheld consoles and PC, handheld's use low spec hardware and the variable nature of PC hardware allows developers to make lower cost games.
