Who in their right mind would spend thousands of dollars on a system to try and keep up with the latest game system requirements of the latest software when they can just by a console and always have the games working that were made for that particular console.

Not to mention the comfort of console playing, just sitting back on a couch or recliner with a wireless controller in front of a big screen TV in 5.1 dolby surround sound playing what ever game you put in the console mere seconds after you put it in.

As opposed to sitting uncomfortably in front of a 14 to 20 inch monitior hunched over a keyboard and mouse waiting for the system to boot up, then waiting for the game to load, and then hoping you don't get any freeze ups or pop ups due to other software or hardware confliction.

Besides it's no coincidence that no matter what gamestore you go into PC games have the smallest localized shelving like right in the center of the floor that takes up all of 4ft-w x 5ft-ht of store space, while all the console games line all the walls and take up the remainder of floor space.

I just wish PC gaming would die off already, you never see anyone lining up outside stores when an new hi-tech computer comes out, but when a new consoles released their camped outside for days and literally racing for the register to get their new console.

Sorry but facts are facts and people just aren't excited anymore over PC gaming.

Many first person shooters and real time strategies sorta disprove your "PC gaming's dead" theory.

PC gaming is dying... yet it has the most AAA and AA then any of the consoles? Sorry, I guess I should apologize that I'm not poor and/or know how to build cheap PCs.

Fakeboy? Has to be because that post is too stupid even for the most fanatic consolites. In any case, it's just sad that people bother making new accounts just to make weak flamebaits.

I'll try to address each issue...

1. I haven't spent thousands of dollars and my pc can run all but one game at 1920x1200 resolution, which is all but a dream in console land.

2. I have a comfortable gaming chair, a dolby surround headset paired with a creative sound card, and 24" widescreen monitor for the ultimate immersive experience. No matter how many times I've tried (and money I've spent) to get into console games...while it's great, is no match for the thrill I get out of PC gaming. Not to mention, value. I get lots of replay value due to the wonderful mods in most games. So, a $40 game will last me much longer than a $50-60 dollar console game. I can use any controller I prefer, mostly the X360 controller for the latest games. If I want, I can sit back a few feet and kick my chair back and get even more comfortable...but I prefer the action to be in my face and I gotta tell ya, 1080p on a 24" screen knocks me out as opposed to 720p or 1080p on a much bigger screen. Then again, it's my preference.

3. I get no freezing or crashes because I do regular mainenance on my PC with the right software. I also don't surf porn sites or any kind of warez crap to keep the clutter out. You use a PC long enough to avoid such things. I seriously think viruses are a thing of the past. While not impossible, someone who takes care of their PC with good surfing habits simply should not have issues. My last virus or blue screen of death was about 5 years ago. No joking.

4. I buy most if not all of my games online. Pretty much any game I want is just a download away. No...I'm not talking about pirating either. I buy full versions of my games. Steam for example has a solid service now...heard of it? While PC games lack in the stores, they still sell on par with console games. Go figure.

5. People don't line up outside stores because their not as brainwashed by some company. Microsoft for instance is spending dump truck loads of money on marketing their new Xbox. Nintendo knows exactly who to cater to...kids and their parents. So why wouldn't the average Joe get excited about this? PC gaming is like the Cannes Film Festival, or Indie films rather. Their not as mainstream...but will never die out. Their will always be a market their, as long as humans populate the Earth. In fact, all an average user would have to do is upgrade their video card to enjoy thousands of backward compatible games. They may not run the latest with solid framerate, but have so many other choices for the price of a Wii. Not too bad for the casual.

im starting to think that there should be a sticky on PC vs consoles and that all the other threads started after that should just get locked seriously how many times have we said that the PC games are cheaper, that the Pc has more AA and AAA games, that it can be as expensive or as cheap as you want, that has full B/C with every other pc game ever made the best online play seriously its getting anoying

Wrong dude, i would never own a PC, i own a nice spec MAC - 2ghz processor, 250gig HD, 128meg-video card, 2gig ram, running OS-X Leopard.

I would never buy a virus ridden, spyware popping, anti virus cluttering PC with the new Vista garbage that doesn't even work, and is currently getting the worst reviews and press out of any previous operating system via PC or MAC released, while Leopard is hitting record breaking sales and getting phenomenal reviews the world over.

Yeah you PC users have the bigger game libraries out of the two but just try getting them to work properly on Vista.

I thought the ultimate hilarious irony was when i was watching the feed on G4 a few weeks ago and they announced that the new windows O.S. Vista runs best on a Macbook Pro laptop...

Either way this arguement is ancient and no matter which computers people like better my whole point is, i don't use computers for gaming i use them for internet, i.m. chatting, email, photos, videos, music, work and i do all my gaming on a " GAME CONSOLE " because thats what they were made for, enough said.

While this may be true, my PC which didn't cost thousands still outperform the 360 in each and every multiplat title. There are a few exceptions like DIRT. People should know by now that PC always wins. Whether we're talking about graphics, sound, gameplay, immersiveness, customizing, AAs, AAAs, whatever. PC has the most games, the most highest rated games, and the ability to play at higher resolutions with more control options.

Despite all this...I guess a pc just doesn't cut it for games eh?

1. Wow thats an insanely powerful computer you got there

2. Vista works perfectly for me. People dont realise that non-gaming pc's require more maintenance because of the poor hardware so you cant use that argument against pc gaming.

3. Just because Vista runs fastest on a mac book pro, it doesnt mean that desktop macs are better than custom built pc's.

4. My graphic card was made for gaming :|

Why do these fools even bother making threads like this, when they self own themselves in their opening statement.

game developing would also die if pc gaming did, nvidia would stop advertising games, new gpu's would stop being manufactured since you dont need a 8800GTX for using the photoshop, and the Quadro version isnt suited for gaming, meaning that either console gaming would die or their graphics would stop evolvling, which would be pretty much the same thing

I spent $500 to upgrade my PC. I already had everything I needed except for a better processor which is now and Athlon 6400 3.2.... and 8800 GTS 320mb version video card. I can play crysis at medium settings and it still looks great. It will run at high mode at 1600 x 1200 but its to laggy to enjoy. But I have read about some tweaks here in there that will fix that.

Anyways $200 for the processor
$300 for 8800GTS 320 mb video card

all at newegg

Yeah thats what i keep reading, which only proves my point even more, i just bought this and upgraded that, now i can play this...

You don't have to do any of that with a console, just pay a one time price and your done, then just sit back and collect whatever games you want until the next console is released and buy that time it'll still be cheaper then trying to keep up with PC technology.

Not to mention PC users being forced to play games on the now older XP platform instead of being able to enjoy Vista because of all it's defects.

so your xbox can run 360 games? you need to upgrade to a better console when they come out, the only difrence is that pc gamers can keep their rig for longer if they are willing to sacrifice the highest graphical settings, a video card like the 8800gt should max most games for atleast 3years before they start wearing out(not including crysis that game is on its own league and it cant be compared to most of the games on development right now)

also its not cheaper, i need 250$ to upgrade my pc so it can run crysis, now if i was going to buy a ps3/360 id spend more then that just for the console then theres also live and extra controller, more expensive games that dosent appeal to me etc.

Of course, but they're still GPUs. That's my only point. If consoles are still selling, then consoles will need GPUs. In which case, companies will continue to produce GPUs. That said, PC gaming is never, ever going to die.

At least we're not wasting money on p2p  and paying $10 (in other countries the difference is much more) more for each game. If you add it up, it equals to a few major ugrades within that gen 8)

PC gaming is now limited to hardcore gamers now that the price tags for stuff like graphics cards are out of reach to the typical casual gamer. By the way, target has a lot of cheap PC games, almost an aisle of them. Some in big boxes like the sims or any port of a console game, some in those weird budget small cases like those "tycoon" games. But it's not as fun as console gaming. It Just Dosen't Feel the Same Without that Controller in your hands.

Are there as many people who use videos/photo editors as much as gamers?

musicalmac
They'll still need cards.

Thos cards are a hell of alot cheaper, you dont use gaming cards fot hat, you use the Quadro series in so forth.

Meu2k7

Of course, but they're still GPUs. That's my only point. If consoles are still selling, then consoles will need GPUs. In which case, companies will continue to produce GPUs. That said, PC gaming is never, ever going to die.

nvidia sell more gpu's for gamming then all 3 consoles combined sell their hardware

Uh, yeah i already said pay a one time price for a console, "until the next console comes out" " 5 to 6 years later " as opposed to a PC's hardware that you have to upgrade like every 3 to 6 months.

Oh and by the way PC gaming could die tomorrow and it won't effect console gaming in the least, people will still need computers & graphic and sound cards for the home and working worlds especially the ones who work in the graphics, sign, photo and music and movie industry.

So please don't kid yourselves PC's were used to compute complex numbers and operations and programs long before games were played on them and they will be utilized for alot more after games are not played on them.

Not to mention the comfort of console playing, just sitting back on a couch or recliner with a wireless controller in front of a big screen TV in 5.1 dolby surround sound playing what ever game you put in the console mere seconds after you put it in.As opposed to sitting uncomfortably in front of a 14 to 20 inch monitior macmutt

laughing at the irony or TC being a mac user, and having a grudge towards PC gaming - is that an offense?

I think people here are too sensative.

And quite frankly if I wanted OSX so much, i'd dual boot it on my up comming Q6600. Same goes for Vista.
Mind you I have spent 2 years straight using OSX for graphic design purposes.

[QUOTE="Lonelynight"]If PC gaming dies, so those console gamingmusicalmac
I don't know how you would substantiate that claim.

PC gaming is the force that drives the technology forward in consoles. Without new advances in PC hardware there you would be stuck in the current gen for probably 10 years.
