I think this guy has a point, you can trade in your games and the games on pc aren't that much cheaper. There are humble bundles, sure. But those are usually for older games.

Been a console gamer my entire life until 2012. PC gaming is far far cheaper. There's no arguing it and this guy is full of shit. Steam, GOG, Humble Bundle, Amazon etc, you name it. You can trade in your games? Yeah, except for the occasional deal where they give you 50% off on the sequel, trading-in games at retailers is a rip-off for the consumer. I also got Shadow of Mordor at 30$ on release. There's also the fact that when PC games are bundled with hardware(SSD's and Graphics Cards), the market gets flooded with people trying to sell off these bonus games for cheap. I got Thief for 3$ for example. A week after release.
There are just far more alternatives for purchasing PC games and less restrictions from sellers/consoles manufacturers.
PC games are objectively cheaper on average.
However, how much you can spend on PC gaming depends very much on your preference. It has both a lower floor and a higher ceiling compared to console gaming. I'm not talking about how a home cinema & large TV cost more than monitor & speakers either, since some PC gamers do game on 4K TVs and 7.1 surround cinema. However, for a frequent game buyer, the lower software cost easily makes up for more expensive hardware cost (if you choose to spend that much) in time.
Could you get Murdered Soul Suspect for $5 NEW?
How about Thief for $5? or How about Deus Ex 1, Invisible War, Human Revolution Director's Cut and the Fall for about $7?
ALSO FREAKIN' FAR CRY 4?
It's $29.99 on Amazon. Well About all Console versions of the game are $29.99 right now.......EXCEPT FOR THE PS4 VERSION which is $39.79 (BUT THE VIDAZ!)
I was a console gamer up till a year and a half ago and I can honestly say that PC gaming is much cheaper. Outside the initial cost of the PC itself the games are just incredibly cheap. If you play solely for storylines it isn't hard to just wait till a good deal comes out for the game. Amazon or GOG seem to come out with some sort of deal for brand new games fairly quickly within a couple months of release. Not to mention the Humble Bundles which are incredible.
Even when it comes to new games on the day of release they seem to normally be cheaper by about 10 bucks for PC. Of course there are exceptions to this like Call of Duty which hardly ever goes on sale on PC. Call of Duty 4 for instance is still 30 bucks on Steam.
It's like talking to the wind.
I just compared a bunch of games and on average console games on amazon are half or less than the steam price.

Well it's a good thing you can get Steam Keys from other places. I got The Evil Within for like $15.58 a month ago and that game is $36.37 (PS4) and $36.34 (XBO) on Amazon. HECK you can get a Physical PC copy now for $19.99!
I can tell you first hand I was blown away by how expensive games were on Steam after all the parroting I have heard from herms on this forum saying that that PC games are way more cheaper. And these are games that have 0 resale value and not to mention the DRM.
I made a thread like this one like a day or 2 ago but it was ignored because that's how herms are. You confront them with facts but they are so convinced of PC's superiority to everything that they even took a meme to heart.

Ok but that game looks like pure jank :p
Where do you buy your codes then generally?
You pay big up front and save big in the long run. Building a good machine isn't cheap, but you're not paying subs to access the multiplayer portions of your games and more often than not, you're getting the games very cheap.

and the first comment in that thread just shredded his argument.
Cherrypicking at it's finest.

But the guy went to the cheapest and the game he bought was only one dollar more expensive. Humble Bundle are for older games as i mentioned. You still get your money back with trading back games, you don't with digital games.

I just browse /r/GameDeals just to make sure I'm getting the cheapest possible deal. Sometimes it's Amazon, Sometimes it's actually Steam. But I don't have a good place I generally go to.
@The_Last_Ride: Greenman Gaming has a Trade in Option. Origin can also give you Refunds if you didn't like the game.

This guy also forgot to mention this
GAMERS CLUB UNLOCKED
$99.99 for 2-Year Membership
paying $99.99 for a discount PC gamers can get for free on gmg
How dare TC try to question the value of PC gaming! Blasphemy!
Questioning by Bringing up False Information.
@lostrib:
Look at who is still around lol.
Yeah he has been active on youtube for around a year. Mostly hang around over IGN's videos.
Trading games in does not save money. You are losing games when you do so. You might think you may never come back to the games you trade in, but I've been proven wrong again and again. I always regret trading in the games I play later on, even the bad ones.
PC gaming is provably cheaper and since there's backwards compatibility you don't get molested by remakes and remasters like on consoles.
Steam sales are great, but for noobs. Cheapshark and indie bundle trackers are where it's at. For instance, in just the past week I've seen:
-DA:O+DAII ultimate pack for $7.99, Tomb Raider(2013) $3.99, Batman AA, AC, AO, and Injustice Gods all for $4.99 each
-Star Wars Humble 12 games for $12
Humble Bundle AAA console style games I've gotten over the years. These come out to around $1 a pop:
BF3, Burnout Paradise Ultimate, Crysis 2 Maximum, Deus Ex HR, Saints Row 3rd, Alan Wake+Nightmare, Company of Heroes 2, Darksiders, Dead Island, Dead Space, Medal of Honor, Metro 2033, Force Unleashed I & II, Sims 3, Torchlight,
Some of the best games, like real games not AAA cas trash, are games like World of Goo, Dust Elysian Tale, Guacamelee, Shank, Vessel, and Limbo.
---
Day 1 is different, but day 1 is not how you buy games, or at least it shouldn't be since then you get into a vicious cycle of broken games, fucked servers, and end up doing stupid shit like trading in new games and claiming it made something 'cheaper'.
PC games are cheaper but PC gaming is not. An Xbox 360 that cost $299-399 almost 10 years ago can still play most new releases (Far Cry 4, COD, Shadow of Mordor, etc). Not as well as a PS4 or Xbone but you can still play them. Could even a $1000 PC from 10 years ago with no upgrades play new releases today?
Yes PC gaming is helluva hot cheaper when it comes to games. Thanks to competition between different distributors.
If you think console games are cheaper than pc games than you don't know how to shop for pc games. In the last 2 months or so here are some notable games I bought:
shadow of mordor - $20
sleeping dogs definitive 6.50
metro last light redux 6.50
ryse son of rome 10
evil within 16
thief 5
I bought a ton more, but those were some of the highlights, you don't see prices like that on consoles, however to get these sales you have to be patient and wait for the right sale and not everybody is willing to do that.
Who's Console Caesar again?
ispeakfact, davekeeh, or any other version of the same troll
lol really? holy shit, that dude has way too much free time.
well i mean, i think that's who it was on here. I'm just assuming it's the same person using that schtick on youtube
PC games are free. Can't get much cheaper than that.
Learn to recognize bad sources for torrents and you're good to go.
Having gamed on both consoles & PC for extended periods of time over the years, for me console gaming is cheaper. First of all consoles are cheaper than PCs (good PCs), and the big saving for me is being able to trade in console games that I don't want any more.
And when new release games come out, I usually pay the same price as the PC version, for the console version. Yes PC has Steam sales (which I admit are usually very cheap), but that's only at certain times of the year and the new release games aren't usually at massive discounts. IMO anyway.
On balance it's not even close.
Between humble bundles, green man gaming ,amazon, steam, gog, origin, random country versions of these things having sales, it is super cheap when it comes to spending money on your games. Trade in differential is ultiamtely tied to sales from Best Buy/Gamestop, which aren't as good as sales at other places. So nah, it's PC gaming in that regard. PC gaming is just more expensive of an initial investment.
