Is PC gaming that much cheaper?

Taking into account mere cost at retail for hardware and games:

Console: $400 + $60-70 games (depending on region) + $50-60 online subscription fee for online play
PC: $600 (average gaming PC hardware for build yourself) + $50 games

Even when we don't consider the crazy deals PC gaming gets, over 5 years the total cost of owning a console v. PC is (assuming purchasing at least 5 games per year as a reasonable minimum):

Console: $2150
PC: $1850

Cost difference: $300

This more than makes up for the initial investment in more expensive hardware. And when you consider 75-90% deals PC gaming gets all the time, the difference could easily grow to a thousand dollars in savings.

PC gaming is cheaper. Period.

You can hide behind your F2P schemes and freemium whale hunting all you want. There is a reason why most traditional publishers go the console route.

GTAV the most sold game since forever was not even released on PC yet. Reason? They knew that hermits would pirate the game so they forced them to buy it on consoles if they wanted to play it. Its that easy.

Hand on heart, I have never pirated a video game but I do admit to pirating movies however that is me and everyone is different. Insinuating that everyone who games on PC is a pirate is a blanket statement that you have no proof to back up.

gaming is an expensive hobby no matter what platform you play on. This argument is silly. You are going to be spending the same ammount to game on console and pc when it's all said and done.

Diablo III did, so did Sim City even when both of them were pieces of shit at release. Lords of the Fallen is a niche IP.

Diablo 2 sold over 10 million it wouldn't even matter. If your going to mention Sim City than past Sim games have sold millions of copies in a week. There also BF games and Sega games that sold millions and all never had piracy protection.

The thing that really matters is what you prefer.

1.Personally I don't like using a kb/mouse. I grew up playing in the arcades and the nes. I just feel a controller a much better experience. All pc games cannot be played properly using a controller.

2.The software is a more important issue. Consoles on average have better games that I like. It is true that pc does get most of the console hits but it's often a year or two down the road.

3. A standard console will last a user 5 years or more. For that entire time period I can play all of the best games that platform offers without shelling up for upgrades. A computer will not last a person 5 years if they are serious about gaming. In 3 years the top of the line hardware will be playing the big titles in medium settings. If you were to buy a top of the line graphics card it would cost you more than an entire ps4 alone.
