You'll never find this on a console sale:

Yeah right... PC gamers sure get on the defensive for posing a simple question. Doubt it? Look at the amount of comments
Most of those comments are factually disproving that youtube video wrong, which happens to be from a youtube-troller who tells lies.

the so called master race sure get unsecure when someone just questions something...

proving that you're wrong doesn't equal getting defensive. Posters in here just took your OP and destroyed it..meanwhile you're calling PC gamers insecure because they didn't just sit down and defend the lies in that youtube video
@stuff238: Only a consolite could spin thousands of dollars in savings as a bad thing. Yeah, sure I haven't played a lot of them, but my console backlog is just as problematic. But I'm not able to buy 10 games for $2.50 on consoles.
..my question is why would you need to buy 10 games at a time (regardless of how cheap they are)? If you're talking last gen (which is STILL going) you could get a pretty good sum of games for dirt cheap. As for this gen, There's a sale going on now for PSN & XBLG in which you can save $30 off newer games. That's NEVER happened in all my years of console gaming.

Why would I not want to pad my library with games I want to play (and might not have time to play right now) for literally a handful of cents a pop?
OMG! $30 off a $60 game! THE SAVINGS!

Simply replying to people doesn't mean that the video in the opening post isn't completely flawed.

You have a point there

I didn't say it wasn't flawed. I thought it was an interesting point he made where he only paid 1 dollar more
@pimphand_gamer: yes you can borrow from friends and family through programs like steam.... They have a entire system made up specifically for that.. How's talking from your ass working for you?
Once I started focusing on PC gaming and built a decent computer I found it's more up front, but less in the long run. In the last year approximately I built my gaming PC from scratch, bought a PS3, and bought a Vita (lolVita). I was able to keep everything under $2500 for rig, monitor, kb+m, headset, and misc. accessories. In addition to getting a 500GB PS3 The Last Of Us combo for $299 I bought a new TV for $500 and bought PS+ membership twice now adding another $100.
$2500 vs $899 (so far) is quite a difference, but I collect games and therefore never trade them in or sell them through eBay for example. Seeing as I buy WAY too many games for all my systems I didn't want to sit down and add everything up for an entire year, but looking at my e-mails for December I was able to buy 65 games for $270.... $4.14 on average. This includes a combination of AAA and Indie games that were recent releases and in many cases were the complete or GOTY editions.
In comparison I buy most of my 3DS games for $20-$40. If I wanted to buy 65 3DS games with that figure I'm looking at $1300-$2600 (finding sales for 3DS games is hard and rarer games can be $$$).
In comparison I buy most of my Vita games for $10-$25. If I wanted to buy 65 Vita games with that figure I'm looking at $650-$1625 (I'm digital only for Vita so I tend to wait out most games for lower prices).
In comparison I buy most of my PS3 games for $15-$25. If I wanted to buy 65 PS3 games with that figure I'm looking at $975-$1625 (I got quite a few free games when PS+ offered more than a few per platform).
Of course this isn't really a fair comparison as PC games are constantly on deep discounts. Consoles are getting better deals as time goes versus the past and the handheld market has the worse sales (Vita does ok, 3DS or sales.... pick one). I don't have the exact numbers as I buy my DS & 3DS games from various sources, but doing some quick math tells me my 51 DS & 41 3DS games are roughly equal to or more than what I spent on my (according to Steam) 643 PC games. Kind of hard to compare 6x the games for an equal or lesser price tag of <100. Sure I haven't played over 50% of my PC games on Steam, but I'm currently chipping away a backlog for 5 systems of which most I've only owned for 1-2 years.

To each his own... btw, what 10 games did you purchase for $2.50.. just curious.

Bundle Stars. I've got 4 or 5 bundles through them for ridiculously cheap. One of the best deals was 10 games for $2.50. Couldn't recall at this point what they were. My Steam library has grown from about 75 games to over 220 in about three years. A lot of them I buy with the mentality of "Hey, it's $1-5 for this game, and I know I want to have it in my collection so when I do want to play it, I can".
Will I play most of them? Hell no. But will I be able to legally be able to do so because of Steam and these amazing third party bundle deals? Hell yes.

..but see to me that's not a "bragging point".. Purchasing games that you will likely never play only to throw your savings into the faces of console gamers (who again.. can get VERY cheap games themselves).
while i was getting all DLC for free.
Are you seriously trying to pretend that all DLC on PC is free? Wow...

So you want a small example ?
Try find me GTA 4 title for any console you like as we speak right now WITH its DLC ( or content you name it as you want , episodes from liberty city that is ) for as much as 2.99$ as a pack.Because thats how i spend for them few years back from a Steam sale. There are so many other games to mention ...its ridiculous. So ALL dlc ? Nope , its not all free ... But for majority is.
Yes its that much cheaper. And there are alot more DD stores other than Steam that have even better deals and that is the great think on pc . Choice you always will find a great deal and you are not locked into MS or Sony network. Humble bundle ( which also has a large amount of modern games on its store ) and greenmangaming are excellent Steam alternatives for modern games and most often have better deals
Also is not just the price of games. Its the price of XBL+, PSN and the higher price of peripherals do play a role
PC games are cheaper but PC gaming is not. An Xbox 360 that cost $299-399 almost 10 years ago can still play most new releases (Far Cry 4, COD, Shadow of Mordor, etc). Not as well as a PS4 or Xbone but you can still play them. Could even a $1000 PC from 10 years ago with no upgrades play new releases today?
And how much did you pay for 10 years of XBL ? How much more did you pay for more expensive games. All those could have gone to upgrades and depending on your upgrades it would still cost less than Xbox
Let alone i dont remember Xbox been $400 at launch 10 years ago

Plus the 360 is the last strong console.
Lets see how the Xbone will fare after 10 years (2023)....
