it's true. Basically Mac's use the same type of components as any Windows PC. However if you were to build a Windows based PC with the same components as a Mac you'd pay a lot less. If you are a big fan of Mac's operating system then you might prefer a mac, just be aware that you pay quite a lot of the privilege of using Mac OS instead of Windows.basically saying that you pay more for an apple computer that you would for a PC but the apple's hardware is inferior.

Because the businesses don't know enough nor don't care enough to know.So what advantanges does a MAC have? When you want to upgrade it, there's no need to hassle and open the computer, you can just throw it away and buy a new one. There are not a lot of businesses that prefer Macs for actual business use. The ratio is somewhere around 95% to 5% in reality, although there are some people in business that use Macs for personal use. I can tell you from experience, Mac networks are terrible and barely any Macs support any of the major accounting, real estate, book-keeping, contact management, etc software without installing windows as second OS which is just dumb. Hardly any business or gamers use Apple computers. They are meant for photography, graphic design, and teenage girls.

From the apple store:
3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
1920 x 1080 resolution
4GB memory
1TB hard drive
8x double-layer SuperDrive
ATI Radeon HD 4670 graphics with 256MB
Total cost - $1499
Using Newegg a similar windows computer would cost:
CPU - $144
27" Monitor - $240 (Samsung 24" - 1920 x 1080)
4 GB DDR3 PC3 10600 Memory - $99
1 TB Western Digital HD $99
ATI Radeon HD 4670 w 1GB video Ram - $69 (That's 4 times the video ram on the mac)
Antec 900 Case - $99
Cosair 650W Power Supply - $89
Asus P5QL MB - $99
DVD-R - $30
Total - $824
And consider that
- Each of the PC componenets are as good or in most cases a good deal better than the Apple counter part (4 x the ram on the video card, DDR3 Ram, Top of the line Cassis, better than needed power supply.
- The PC could be optimized a lot giving you more bang for your buck instead of going by what apple uses in their machines

The majority of businesses uses Windows.
Back on topic Macs are horribly overpriced, and provide inferior performance for that price. Buying a brandname, whereas my custom built PC cost me 1700 to build, and my cousin just recently bought a 3000.00 Macbook pro, and my PC destroyed it in every conceivable way.

For the price of the high tier Macs, you can essentially build a PC super-computer. And that's no bull****. I'm talking a gaming PC that will likely be more much more powerful than a PS4/Xbox 3 whenever those come out.Why is that hard to believe? Hardly any companies use macs. They have zero software support for business software besides their lame version of office. They are terrible for networking, terrible for IT support, and are not used in more than a very small percentage of businesses for actual business use. Somewhere around 5%. MacBook Pro delivers both powerful graphics performance and long battery life. Every MacBook Pro features the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M integrated graphics processor, which provides an outstanding everyday graphics experience with up to a 5x performance boost.1 Power your way through the latest 3D games — including Call of Duty and Quake — and enjoy improved graphics performance with iWork, iLife, and everything you do in Mac OS X. The power-saving NVIDIA integrated graphics processor also keeps you up and running throughout the day, with up to 7 hours of battery life on the 13- and 15-inch MacBook Pro and up to 8 hours on the 17-inch MacBook Pro.2
NVIDIA Geforce 9400m sucks so bad its not even funny. And you can use all the programs that are good for video editing on a PC that you can use on a Mac. Programs like iMovie are bad an nobdy that wants to edit videos professionally would use that.
I don't see how Macs are used for photography and graphics design. What makes those better on a mac than on a PC?akbar13
Macs were the first PCs to provide graphical user interaction. The first graphic design programs were made for the first Macs and then gradually evolved.
They are "better" because their user is used to their interface, and adapting to a new interface usually is a huge waste of time.
They are extremely overpriced just like alienware. You can easily build yourself a much better computer with a total cost less than that of an alienware comp or Mac and still have the same performance or better.
[QUOTE="tempest91"][QUOTE="Rippou"]Yes, this is true. But OSX is better than Windows which is why I use it.Rippou
OSX is not better it's just different. Every OS has its flaws.
It's my opinion from using both :| Never said OSX didn't have flaws.I fix problems in both every day. OSX has so many flaws that it's not even funny, not to mention its terrible software support and journaled file system. I cringe every time I have to use it. I've yet to meet one Mac user that knows their system password so I can run the Apple updates that they didn't even know existed. I pray that you are better than this.

I got tired of Windows' issues. That being said, I recently bought Windows 7 for my other PC and it's very good. Much better than Vista, no issues so far. I acknowledge the fact that my issues were only mine, they do not reflect everyone elses experience with Windows, but for me personally it was a bother to my lifestyle as I use a computer upwards of 12-15 hours a day. I prefer OSX because of its minimal issues I've faced, and the ease of use. The price is ridiculous and I dislike the fact that Apple has a chokehold on me if anything serious goes wrong with my Mac, but so far I have no complaints. Please Log In to post.
