I'm sorry but who even handheld games anymore? I remember I used to have gameboys for long car trips with my parents long ago:lol: But now that I'm in college I really could not see myself using a handheld gaming machine :?

Guess that makes sense and would be nice during breaks in between classes, but it doesn't justify spending a couple hundred dollars that I could spend on the consoles or upgrading my PC.

I guess its just personal preference, the games look really good for a handheld...

Believe it or not a lot people game in handhelds. When I went to go see Transformers 2 midnight launch there where a bunch of guys and girls with DS including myself and everyone was on pictochat chatting and drawing. Played some games too. Also everyone was over 18 no kids. When people think of 3D they think of expensive TV and glasses but this is different this is 3D with no glasses that's why Nintendo is going to change the gaming world. First serious gaming system with no glasses and the games to back it up.

All I see is a bunch of traditional games with a cheap gimmick added on. 3D won't change anything. A fantastic platform with a ton of great games will just be another successful Nintendo handheld. Hopefully this time they don't try and force the gimmick into everything, even at the detriment of some games.

you're stepping ahead of yourself. the announcement isn't going to change anything besideswhat we know about the North American release

IF anything, the 3DS might change handheld gaming if there's more to it than just the stereoscopic 3D because at the current moment, it just seems like a super beefed DS. a super beefed DS that I'm extremely excited about! :D

Yeah, I just wish I put a tracking number on it or something. It's complete torture seeing other peoples copies, and opening the mailbox to see nothing inside of it.. Even after it does come I have to wait for my friends copy before we play the game (it's some bro thing), so I have to wait even longer. I will though post in SWOT once I get my copy so if you lurk there you'll know when I get it.

On topic:

I hope the 3DS is not region locked, supposedly they haven't decided if they should lock it or not but they just shouldn't.

I normally don't like handhelds, but I do want a 3DS. I'll wait until the price goes down of course, but it seems like there's some great games for it.

I thought about getting it before, might get it, might not, but then I was sold when they said they'd have Ocarina of Time, MGS Subsistance, and Resident Evil: Revelations. Can't wait for it! Also getting Pokemon too, me and my buddies used to play it together all the time, we grew out of it, but I kinda miss it. They say Pokemon is for kids only but that isn't true, it has a sort of style that sticks to you, hundreds of hours of gameplay, and is addicting. I certainly think that Nintendo 3DS is kind of a change in the gaming world because we've never really seen a handheld with such power before, a handheld with two cameras, tons of support from devs with games (MGS, Resident Evil, Assassins Creed, Zelda, the list goes on and on) and we've never before seen a handheld that has 3D without the need of glasses (even if it is just a screen trick). The 3DS will really raise the standards for handhelds, and is the first step to the next generation.

We point out what is people's opinions on SW all the time, so unless we are going to objectively discuss the 3DS's features and it's value I don't care whether some people are not willing to pay "X ammount" because it's a handheld. It's a $299.99+ DSi with tacked on 3D screen and PSP specs. And it seems it'll retain the DS's out of date non-muti-touch, non-capacitive touch screen, and the DSi's abysmal camera. What a rip-off. Not to mention no second analog stick. Good luck using the stylus to control the virtual analog stick. The touchscreen is not designed for finger touching like the iPhone. runbleduck

Well to be fair DS fans ripped on the Psp for being $250( and it had good specs for that price) and for having ports so I guess its the return fire lol.

I mean there are people comparing the 3DS to the 360 and PS3 when yes it has good shaders but it is also very low in poly counts. I read somewhere its polycount was near the Psps lol.

And yes people not wanting something diminishes overall value of that product in respect to the person who doesn't want it.

Also how is it crap that someone voices there opinion about the device being overpriced I mean its fine for you to view it as worth it... I mean you just went against your advice about not giving opinions and addressing the objective facts on the hardware... I mean heaven forbid someone disagree that the 3DS is a quality device...
