Its a remake of a handheld bro, not gonna change anything major.
Whiteblade999
Like the PSP 2 is a remake of the PSP.
I expect great things from the 3DS.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
Yeah, well we can't really complain right now about the 3DS's value being more than $150 at launch. It looks to be worth every penny.[QUOTE="SaltyMeatballs"]
[QUOTE="foxhound_fox"]
Didn't know that. It is good to know it isn't being forced. But for more than $150 for a handheld and I'm definitely not game.Banjo_Kongfooie
There is over priced and there is expensive, people not willing to pay so-so for a system because it's a handheld doesn't diminish the value of it, it's just someones limit.
We point out what is people's opinions on SW all the time, so unless we are going to objectively discuss the 3DS's features and it's value I don't care whether some people are not willing to pay "X ammount" because it's a handheld. (not just you, every 3DS thread and even in this thread poeple say the same ol' crap)
Well to be fair DS fans ripped on the Psp for being $250( and it had good specs for that price) and for having ports so I guess its the return fire lol.
I mean there are people comparing the 3DS to the 360 and PS3 when yes it has good shaders but it is also very low in poly counts. I read somewhere its polycount was near the Psps lol.
And yes people not wanting something diminishes overall value of that product in respect to the person who doesn't want it.
Also how is it crap that someone voices there opinion about the device being overpriced I mean its fine for you to view it as worth it... I mean you just went against your advice about not giving opinions and addressing the objective facts on the hardware... I mean heaven forbid someone disagree that the 3DS is a quality device...
That doens't matter to me, I got a PSP for £210 at launch with Riiiiiiiiiiiidge Racer... and I'm a DS fan. Wans't PSP Go $250 still recently? I don't know what it is now, but that's lol worthy to me.From what you've read (and I've read the same) if true, then clearly there is more to polycount as we can see from the 3DS games.
It's not people that don't want it (or think it's over priced or expensive, though people get these confused), it's people that say they won't pay "X amount" solely because it's a handheld. That doesn't actual mean much to what the system offers other than the fact that it's indeed a handheld. It's a meh opinion when we could be talking about the features and games. Maybe when the price is finally confirmed this infatuation with the 3DS price will end.
People in the reports agreed that it was a great advance from that awkward PSP nub. It just feels right. My 12 year old daughter is already trying to butter me and the wifey up for one... The only way she gets one is if her grades improve otherwise its a no go... I wonder how well the analogue slider works??? The PSP's was a pile of crap in my book so I hope NIN's stacks up...

Personally I am excited for the 3D effect, I haven't even watched a movie in 3D, plus no glasses should be cool. 3D photos also sound cool. Excited to play GB Virtual Console as I missed so many cIassic GB games and they won't look like crap anymore.
It's all about the games though, not just specs (though the graphics have impressed me), and it just takes a few games I'm interested in to spark my interest and I have seen many. The 3rd party support is going to be crazy. Whether some of the games come out any time soon is another story, but not stopping me from getting a 3DS at launch.
Why does anyone wish bad upon a new system? I don't care for the 360, but I would love to see the next Xbox be durable and awesome with tons of exclusives. THen I will buy it! Cause I am a gamer...not a fanboy ;).
The 3DS and its many awesome games are going to assault my wallet. Darnit, too many good games next year as well!
Can someone explain why the 3DS is so innovative? When people say the games are in 3D...do they mean like in the cinema when they pop out the screen or is it merely 3D characters on a screen? If it's the latter, why is that so innovative? The PSP and iPhone have already done that...

3D without glasses. On a handheld no less.

LOL are you being serious? It is 3D lilke it pops out at you, and you don't need glasses. The original DS had 3D graphics like the PSP and Iphone (although not as good, due to weak hardware), but this is better hardware (better graphics), AND it has screens that allow the image to pop out at you without the need for glasses. Also you can adjust the level of popping the images are doing lol (off to high). Plus it will have better online features, including a online store to buy older gameboy games. And it is backwards compatible with the DS. And it has the analog slider that is a lot better than the PSP's. And it has cameras that can take 3D (pops out) pictures. And it has TONS of amazing games lol. Yeah its going to rock.
I lol'd, but yes, like the cinema. People wouldn't point out 3D characters because as you said that is not innovative, even the original DS does that. Can someone explain why the 3DS is so innovative? So far anyone who hasnt given it blind praise. complained about a potential high price tag, mentioning ports, not being interested, doesn't see this giant change everyone is talking about has been called a hater.
Thats fanboyism for ya.

For $300 bucks i rather get a PS3 which will give me a ton of more bang for the buck and it has 3D also. So clearly PS3 is a better value for that kind of money.

Salty the PSPGO is $150 new now and you also get 3 games with the system, i think its a good deal now.
I'm pretty sure the people that are being called haters are the ones that are saying "REHASH" and "it's not even a new system". I think the price point is a legit concern. So far anyone who hasnt given it blind praise. complained about a potential high price tag, mentioning ports, not being interested, doesn't see this giant change everyone is talking about has been called a hater.

Obviously the PS3 does more its a home console, this is a handheld on the go with 3D. Yes the PS3 can do 3D but you need a TV and glasses and you can't take it on the go. There still stuff we need to know about like the UI. There's multitasking like pausing your game and being able to go online and surf the web. I hope they announce they are going to put kiosks for the mass to try the system themselves.
So many stupid posts in this topic, it hurts my brain.
I personally can't wait for the info. The 3DS looks great.
I dont understand the hate with the 3DS ... I dont... I mean.. WTF.
Nintendo-"Oh hey heres a system that goes against pretty much everything our haters have criticized us for.. i.e. it now has awesome graphics, a focus on online, and incredible third party support.. "
And yet.. no one is happy.. Oh just a 3D DS, nothing special.. Wtf is wrong with people.

lmao agreed. The one thing I can say is the PSP2 will have better graphics, but honestly the 3DS looks great and will be more than enough. I am super hyped for the 3DS. Some people just love to hate and for some reason swear alegance to one system, or hated against one system (or company). I used to be a Nintendo fanboy, but lucky for me, that has all changed and now I can see the light :P.

They definitely will put kiosks in malls and stores. That sold MILLLIONS of DS and Wii systems.[QUOTE="DarthJohnova"]

Yeah and not to mention all the other crazy features, like the tag mode, interaction with other peoples 3DS's without you knowing it. That crazy manipulation of reality games they have with it. A portable 3D camera.. I mena wtf.. if nothing the 3DS is innovative than nothing in this industry is innovative.
[QUOTE="Shinobishyguy"]After raking in the money with the DS and Wii nintendo finally makes a system with core games in mind ...and the haters are still hating ....amazingSandvichmanBecause not seeing this as some revolution as people are hyping it to be is hating? Do you see everything in black and white? where did I say anything about people seeing it as a revolution? I mean considering how much flak nintendo got for the wii...you think people would be happy about them going back to their roots when it comes to their hardware philosophy.
and in all honesty the only legit criticism is the price point.

Haha yep. I mean hell they are focusing so much on the core players experience, and while the graphics may not be as good as the PSP2's will be (they wont be as good, we all know that), the jump is quite massive going from the DS. I would say its the biggest graphical jump we have seen from Nintendo. The analog slider is a huge plus. Better online, and more.
PS - teh fact that they are putting a RPG Paper Mario on the system says something to me...and I love Paper Mario!

And yeah, it's 3D graphics can't forget about that.Only thing I don't like about the 3DS is the design. I hate that it looks like a DS, a fresh new look would've been great. 3DSLite... ya ya I know *sigh*

I know what you mean, but changeing something just to make it look different isnt smart. I don't see any other design being as functional, good looking, and so on. I love the DS design. Slider wouldnt be smart and open face is something I am personally against (screen scratching and so on.

They might make yet another PH/ST-esque one. And I would want it to have 3D.

Some games on handhelds can match games from the home consoles.

Thats the thing, they cant really make one like PH and ST and have it be 3D. The bottom screen is touch and the top 3D. This means if you are playing on the bottom screen it is not 3D :P. I am glad, maybe we wont have to play another PH and ST like game lol. I enjoyed PH quite a bit, but the controls just are not any more fun and they make the game too easy.
That's fine with me. It wasn't like there was any huge differences with each gameboy system. The 3DS is just a beefed-up DS... :(

still not impressed with 3DS, but once i'll get the chance to try it out and play a couple of games my opinion might change..
That's most likely why they added the option to turn it off, also some people probably won't like the 3D effect regardless. The games are just opinion really, I have been hyping the games ever since they were revealed, a lot of good looking games and great franchises.lets say due to an eye problem you could not see the 3D is it worth it then. i have poor vision out of my right eye so the chances are the 3D won't work for me. will it be worth it for the 'better'games
dog_dirt
Let's just say you had a broken thumb, etc, etc... :P
The Potential in the 3DS is what's got me interested but im not holding my breath, im betting most of the stuff from the really amazing looking games are pre-rendered.
And im not bothered about the £D thing, I'm happy with my 2D DS, I just hope theres an option to turn it off.
