And what parts were opinion exactly. And going of the basis that it was given 2 days versus several other games how is it inconclusive? (eats popcorn)Synthetic_NinJI
Inconclusive as in: It's not what the game will sell.

North America is a very small region? Wuah? The largest video game market is "very small"? :?

NA isn't a small region at all. But for the KZ2 fan base and brand is small compared to Europe. It is much more popular there.

no, but he has called it a flop Synthetic_NinJI

It is a flop and I presented reasons, along with evidence and references to why it is, in fact, a flop.

Its not a flop.

Yes it is.

No, it is not, it met its hype, it is an excellent game, get over this ego of yours, because it is not a flop.

[QUOTE="clone01"]still, you called it a flop. by review scores, it isn't.Stevo_the_gamer
The term flop can only coincide with "reviews"? Really? Calling something a flop in SystemWars merely means the game didn't meet expectations. He's saying in this case, in regards to the hype and marketing, the sales were a "flop" and didn't meet expectations. Did it sell good? Yep. But in comparison to other games which received similar hype and marketing, he's saying it flopped.

What were the sales expectations for KZ2? I would guess somewhere in the millions. I'm pretty sure it will reach that goal if it hasn't already.

Aw, man ... this is from memory, but I do remember reading somewhere that Sony wants... or more so "expecting" it to sell similar or even better than that of MGS4. I'll see if I can find where I read that though. And also, from memory again, that MGS4 sold a million on its first couple of days so... take that however you want.

so what was the advertising and marketing for KZ2 compared to something like Halo 3? or Gears 2? do you have any solid data on that? from my personal experience, there were far less marketing and commercial attempts on KZ2 than its the latter two. obviously, i have no real solid numbers on something like that. however, as i have mentioned before, Halo 3 came off of two tremendous previous titles, and Gears 2 came off Gears, which met tremendous commercial and critical success. KZ was mediocre. considering these factors, and the fact that KZ2 scored a 9.0, and while its sales are nowhere near these titles but not lacking potential, I would consider calling a flop erroneous at best.

MGS4 is a whole other beast. It was the PS3's first true Killer app and a very well established fan base. Of course Sony wanted KZ2 to sell well :).

KZ2 will be a sales flop if it doesn't break even and make them a bit of profit. How can we determine that now? It's quite hard to say otherwise now off of 2 days of sales numbers. Keep in mind that it's ONLY in North Amercia. When worldwide numbers come in it will make sense to label the game's status IMO. As far as expectations we don't know. But only time will tell with KZ2.

- Halo 3 was $30 million just for advertising.

- I'm not sure about Gears of War 2, but we can fairly assume MS poured bucketloads into it.

- KZ2's ad budget was $2 million in the UK, the biggest market for KZ2. I'm sure it didn't exceed $6 million worldwide. When I say biggest market, I mean biggest known fanbase.

Why even argue this. Your comparing different games, at different times, with different budgets for different things, on different consoles. I don't even know why you listened to him and didn't blow the argument out of the water right there. KZ2 didn't sell as much as halo 3 or GOW2.....WOOOOOoooooooow  lol.
