the move thread was the one I had in mind when I made my first reply to you where lemmings claimed shipped isn't sold and now they are saying shipped is sold. So there you have my reasoning for my backwards logic in SW reply :)

the real question is how many are actually in consumer homes and not sitting in the stores..during Christmas season its easy to overstock so ms is going to get to 5 million....but out of that 5 million how many will be sold to customers

You know honestly I don't care how much the Kinect or Move sells since i won't see any money from it going to my wallet. I just hate all the hypocrisy and double standards when it comes to this kind of threads :)

yep and they will get 5 million sold by holiday season and wouldnt be surprised if they drop the price to 99 in Quarter 2 of 2011 to give it another boost. Good smart moves by MS, I know you dont like the 360 and are a ps3 fan, but give credit when credit it due, Kinect is what I said it would be....

Legally they can't count promotional giveaways as a sale, unless it is part of a package. They are considered tax write offs as promotional expenses. The only exception to that is if they are part of a package deal. Sort of like how Sony was giving away a free PS3s with certain Bravia models last year, or Apple gives away a free IPod Touch with some Macbooks. Those can be considered sales since they are factored into the over all price. In other words free is free, but if some part of a package is reduced so the over all appearance is that something is free that counts as a sale.

It was a top-end blu-ray player, it played all of my PS2 games over HDMI with upscaling, and it also came with a free GT5 Time Trial. The PS3 launch library honestly wasn't a factor when I bought the PS3, I'll readily admit it wasn't very good.

The Kinect has ... Dance Central, and though I love rythym games I'm not a good dancer. Nothing on that accessory appeals to me at all.

I think what he means is that you're comparing the first 10 days of US sales and the first 5 days of EU sales Kinect got to the first month sales Move got from the EU and US respectivly

Also, seriously ... the Kinect just had its biggest sales week. Months of hype, Oprah, $500 million in marketing and all those pre-orders gave the Kinect its first million sales. Now the product is out there and people can actually play the games and grasp the reality that Kinect UI is not Minority Report. Sales are not going to maintain at the rate of 100k per day, there's going to be a drop.

P.S - Now two people on my friends list have Kinect, so it must be gaining a bit of traction with the "gamers with careers and disposable income" crowd. :)

True. But reviewers seem to agree that there's only one standout title on Kinect, and that's Dance Central (go Harmonix!). The rest of the games range from unexceptional to the absolute worst game of the year, "Fighters Uncaged". Reviews do represent the quality of a game.

Pointing out links to one site or another claiming who they think will win the motion control war is great and all, but I'm a bottom line kind of a guy.

Wii has sold more consoles than anyone else, and all of them use motion controls. They win. The end. At this point, it's a race for #2.

So far the Move has sold more, but it's still anyone's second place. Frankly, I don't think either has sold that much so far.

I think that you're comparing apples and oranges, i'm not denying the fact that Kinect is in last place, I am however saying that you are comparing how much kinect sold in 10 days to how much move sold a month

every year we do a year on year comparison between both platforms, we don't compare one year for the xbox 360 versus two quarters for the PS3

what i'm saying is, compare the first month of kinect sales to the first month of Move sales and then we'll see, i'm not however denying the fact that Kinect is still 1.5 million units behind move

I guess Sonys' anti-no buttons pew pew pew Kevin Butler advertising campaigns they had going on for awhile had no affect on the Kinects' momentum.
