...you? I thought bluray was supposed to make games 5 times longer and make every game support a bunch of features... like multiplayer...
Well GOW did good...and that was under 7hoursAcenso
... no... it was 12 plus. And on harder difficulties more, and it was alot of fun to play over again.
[QUOTE="TerryBenedict"]Yawn. Gears was short too. Whiners.ELJUDEZTrue
But it has a mp that changes everything.
I have Gears since it came out and im still playing it alot, are you going to play a sp game that's only 10-12h long for so many months, seriously are you?
I thought that Blu-Ray helps makes games longer.....people certainly were claiming that DVD was the reason Gears was so short.thinicer
increaded data =/= increased length
Just take a look at all the stuff that's going on in Lair to understand were all that data from blu-ray is being used in this game.

Damage Control, that should be the next PS3 game. Watch us release short over rated garbage, so our fanboyz can defend our company online...
No online? Wtf, That's what I was anticipating most. Now it's starting to get dissapointing.l_The_DetoX_l
What Would you expect to do online with a Game like this?

If games aren't worth buying because they are too short & have no online, then you people must be like all 10yrs old. I remember buying games on nes, snes, ps1, ps2, megadrive like, gt, mario, sonic, resident evil, tekken, soul edge, shinobi, strider to name a few.... And none of these games were online... Yet most of them were more fun than Gears, Halo 2 & those attrocious tom clancy games put together. Hell, goldeneye on N-64 was better than Halo2, & it was 4 player split screen for multiplayer....lol.
Stop over rating online lems, because it's all you have in your cannon to fire & even that is losing ground. Plenty of PS3 owners just went out & bought GOW2 because it is a great game & they are true gamers...Yet this 9.7 (ign) scoring gem has no online, wow, neither does okami, ico, SOTC, ninja gaiden & a slew of other titles that were considered the best most innovative games of last gen.
As long as the game is kept fresh & fun throughout, then I get my value for money. Gears to me was fun for half the campaign, then was samely, boring & highly unoriginal...so I stopped playing it. I didn't have my machine online, but didn't care for a half baked solo campaign game with online sewed on to save it's failings.
Lair will rule, Factor Five always make kikass games.

You know it's sad when my Intellivision provides a better gaming experience then a PS3. BTW, for what Sony is asking a 10 -12 hour game is a slap in the face...
I found this post interesting. Can't really disagree with it, but what do you all think:
The main thing about the whole "We need Blu-Ray, DVD makes our games too short, because of storage limitations..." is what is really setting this off, to be perfectly honest.
The SDF'ers pointed to Gears of War's total game length and said "See? See? If they'd had a Blu-Ray Drive, they could've packed in so much more content! Made the game longer!"
But at the same time, now that we have the first BIG BIG PS3 game coming out (Lair) and it's just a couple hours longer than Gears of War, but is ON Blu-Ray, the SDF'ers are valiently (and in vain) trying to defend it by saying "Well, it's a great game! Look at all the other single player games that ONLY lasted 10-12 hours!"
Yet they conveniently forget that Gears of War is only a mere 2-3 hours in total Single Player length behind them.....while being on an "Inferior Media Format that holds only 1/5th the amount of storage.".
The SDF'ers also conveniently forget that unlike Gears of War, Lair doesn't have any apparent method of multi-player (co-op or multi-player player vs player or anything), yet, Gears of War has HUNDREDS OF HOURS worth of online play (in various forms).
So, how is it going to be, SDF'ers? Is the "superior media format" so much needed now? Looking at shots of Gears of War vs. Lair & I'm not seeing this "Vastly improved, MUST HAVE Blu-Ray to achieve all of this..." level of detail. I'm also not seeing the need of "must have Blu-Ray to achieve SO MUCH MORE GAME PLAY over DVD9." that your Blu-Ray Sony PR Bible Thumping was doing all this time, but now only appears to have a mere "couple of hours of SP legnth" over what DVD9 offers, but completely has scrapped any of the potential "Hundreds of Hours from Online/Multi-Player Modes".
So how is it, SDF'ers?
I don't see the big deal here, 360's "best" game (Gears) is barely 10 hours long. Just goes to show that no matter what you can't stop the blind hypocrites that are fanboys.TiefsterThe reason why Lair is being bashed was because Gears was Bashed for the same exact thing. No Cow seems to understand this. They forget bashing Gears for only being 12 hours.

People keep bringing up Gears of War as if Gears of War doesn't have a rich multiplayer experience as well as co-op to supplement the SP...
and wasn't the space advantage of blu-ray supposed to lengthen games greatly? I remember plenty of threads suggesting that Gears was the size it is because of lack of space on DVD-9. Now we have a PREMIERE PS3 game with basically the same amount of SP gameplay time ON Blu-Ray...and without co-op or multiplayer to boot.
makes for interesting conversation, IMO.
I wonder what the cows will have to say after so much bashing of Gears's length.-The-G-Man-It seems that they don't remember saying this.

Gears of War has Online multiplayer which I personally spent at least 50 hours playing..
That is exactly what they were saying. Like makign a game longer is suppose to make it better. At least having online play guarantees you can play it for years.

Wow..... No online and 10-12 hours of gameplay = no AAA. Scratch this off of the GOTY possiblities. At best this will get AA.Firelore29
God of War 1 and 2 were no more than 12 hours long and no online and both got AAA. A great singleplayer experiance can earn a game an AAA.

ok but still, no one knows for sure how much space this game will take up on a disc, sure the game might be short but the levels are massive. Here is the problem:
1. Cows bashed Gears for being short
2. Cows said DVD9 is the reason why Gears was short, therefore Blu-Ray is def need for games
Now with this new information it seems
1. Lair is also deemed "short"...so there goes the DVD9 bashing
2. No multiplayer
Lemms are just getting back at Cows for bashing Gears length. Lemms fired back with "Well we gots teh multiplayer"...I dont know what Cows will counter punch with yet.
Can Lair still be AAA without MP...OF COURSE!!!
But Lair would have been so much more fun with it...I however did not have high hopes for this game since day one...it just didnt "WoW" me.
It could still end up being a really good game though.
These "sky is falling" threads are fan-tas-tic. Throw the kids a rumor and they run with it, by golly do they run!
