and people bashed Gears of War for being 10-12 hours long! lol..
Gears of War has Online multiplayer which I personally spent at least 50 hours playing..
Gears of War was NOT 10-12 hrs long. More like 7-8 hrs
at least it has multiplayer

But it had MULTIPLAYER[QUOTE="waynehead895"][QUOTE="Dreams-Visions"]I found this post interesting. Can't really disagree with it, but what do you all think:
[QUOTE=""]The main thing about the whole "We need Blu-Ray, DVD makes our games too short, because of storage limitations..." is what is really setting this off, to be perfectly honest.
The SDF'ers pointed to Gears of War's total game length and said "See? See? If they'd had a Blu-Ray Drive, they could've packed in so much more content! Made the game longer!"
But at the same time, now that we have the first BIG BIG PS3 game coming out (Lair) and it's just a couple hours longer than Gears of War, but is ON Blu-Ray, the SDF'ers are valiently (and in vain) trying to defend it by saying "Well, it's a great game! Look at all the other single player games that ONLY lasted 10-12 hours!"
Yet they conveniently forget that Gears of War is only a mere 2-3 hours in total Single Player length behind them.....while being on an "Inferior Media Format that holds only 1/5th the amount of storage.".
The SDF'ers also conveniently forget that unlike Gears of War, Lair doesn't have any apparent method of multi-player (co-op or multi-player player vs player or anything), yet, Gears of War has HUNDREDS OF HOURS worth of online play (in various forms).
So, how is it going to be, SDF'ers? Is the "superior media format" so much needed now? Looking at shots of Gears of War vs. Lair & I'm not seeing this "Vastly improved, MUST HAVE Blu-Ray to achieve all of this..." level of detail. I'm also not seeing the need of "must have Blu-Ray to achieve SO MUCH MORE GAME PLAY over DVD9." that your Blu-Ray Sony PR Bible Thumping was doing all this time, but now only appears to have a mere "couple of hours of SP legnth" over what DVD9 offers, but completely has scrapped any of the potential "Hundreds of Hours from Online/Multi-Player Modes".
So how is it, SDF'ers?Huxley_00
Post of the Thread. Who wrote this BTW?
yea.. really was a nice writeup..
good read
one of my peeps in another forum wrote it.

listen to the 2:40 mark
Is it really worth 60 bucks?
I'll rent it, beat it, and return it..

That's disappointing. But for the record, I think the cows are pwning themselves enough. We don't even have to try anymore. It's like Crypto paid a visit. :|

But gears of war was worth playing....
and yh gears is 99% about the multiplayer
Now in a way it confirms that this game will get atleast a 9 in value. With the medal system and online leaderboard, this game will have around 30-40 hours of playtime (if this game is really fun, which it probably will be).

Gears has multiplayer.
This has medals, and online leaderboards :(.Still longer than Gears.gsx1100

This has medals, and online leaderboards :(.Most if not all 360 games have leaderboards and medals/achievements. What are you getting at here?

ROgue squadron had medals to improve the value. Lair could possibly add a secret ending, secret level, or other things. This is what they did with the old rogue squadron games, when you got a certain amount of medals. Factor 5's old games took even less time then this game. The 2nd Rogue squadron game took 6-8 hours to beat, but had a whole lot of replay value due to this medal system. If you haven't played a rogue squadron game, I would understand why you don't know the importance of this. But thinking this game is similar to god of war, that it is only a one time run through, you are certainly wrong. This game will most likely to beat throughly around 40 hours or so.[QUOTE="fresherfish"][QUOTE="gsx1100"]Still longer than Gears.drsports1980

Your argumement works better for the 360 side of the debate.
