I tried making my first level yesterday using a template and the whole thing collapsed on me , lol. Physics can be your worse enemy if you're not careful. I tried to do another level from scratch yesterday and I am starting to get a little better at it and my first little crappy level is almost ready to publish !!!!! It doesn't have a set theme , characters , or a story , and there aren't any vehicles or enemies ..... it is just a hazardous platformer that is kinda short I guess. Baby steps. I am trying to make it co-op friendly and trying to make getting some of the bubbles hard to get to get a little co-opetition going on. It is not really difficult to get through on single player because I have a lot of checkpoints , but to get a high score the platforming is a bit tricky and there are some secret points.

I am having fun with the user created levels too - I replay most of them to get a better score. Just about all the ones I have played were worth my time in some way. Guess I've been lucky with that. I am already blown away by others' creativity and how well some of these levels are themed and put together. After I publish this first level , I think I am just going to learn and just build a variety of different things to hone my skills for the retail release before I get into making an elaborate level. I'll probably have a good System Wars level up in time for you guys at Christmas whe you get your ps3s and LBP. I can't wait to see the rest of the items and tools in the retail game ........ things are going to get completely insane. Army guys and chicken wings FTW !

I'm a lem but I just watched the Xplay (I know I know xplay is for noobs blah blah blah) LBP show and I must say that game does look like a trip, just worried the gameplay itself may get oldonewiththegame

I've never bashed anything in this thread.

Though, there was a totally huge thread I created that suggested that the game won't sell well-- and it won't.

My sweet personal hype for LBP is AAAAE but it's not exclusive anymore since you can play it on the PSP. So my new sweet personal hype is AAAA without the E. It's October already!

After playing it, there is no doubt in my mind that this game will sell well.

It's just so charming and fun. Unless someone hates the genre, I have difficulty imagining the sort of gamer who wouldn't want to play it.

The game is essentially:

* a 2d side scroller

* a map editor for a 2D side scrolling game

* minimal due to the locked physics of the s...l..o...w. gameplay

* mysteriously "overly cute" when its a hardcore game meant for those that would spend many hours to make levels

* not for kids --- content sharing, kids can't make levels, kids don't need a $65 game on a $432 system

* bundled to compensate for sales

* feminie? Or markteted to girls? I can't make my mind up. The PS3 box art bundle has:

* lips licking themselves

* Pink as the main color

* Barbie font in the the blue "upcurved" "e"

* rainbows (can be recognized to stand for a number of things)

* no style representative of games like GoW, RFOM 1 or 2, KZ

Yay, I finally got my beta code from PSU. I was checking the email thats linked to my PSN ID and there was no code, then I checked my other email and there it was. Its 12am now but they sent it 8 hours ago. So I waited all this time, ha. Kinda weird why they sent to my other email.

Anyway, here's the weak part, I let my siblings borrow my PS3, and they're like seven hours drive away. I told them to redeem the code but they said when they turn on the PS3 the screen is just black. I told them to change the hdmi ports around, but nope, still black.

I don't think I'll be coming up there this weekend, so I can't see whats the problem myself. Luckily theres other cables they can use instead of the hdmi. But its kinda late so they'll mess with it tomorrow.

The beta ends on the 11th right? If they can't figure out the problem by tomorrow or so, I think I'm just going to give or trade my beta code away. I just want them to have fun with my PS3 before I take it back. Oh well, we'll see how it goes tomorrow, night.

Also to note the whole level was made using the Eye-toy.The only thing not using a custom texture is the sackboy himself.

50 campaign levels that get increasinlgly tougher as you go along. I wish XPLAY would mention that part. Its not just a level editing game.

After a few hours of work, I finished and published my pretty rudiamentary level, entitled "A Race". It's sitting out around South America somewhere, currently on Page 3 of Cool Levels.

Putting it together was a lot of fun, and pretty easy, if it weren't for some beta-related issues. I've got another level planned that's far more ambitious, so we'll see how that goes.
