I think it looks like a pretty decent game but if becoming a little overrated, its a platformer with a ton of customizability which is really only going to appeal to a small group of gamers. I think a lot of people who are hyping this game will play it for a couple of weeks and then put it on their shelf and never touch it again...
Customizabilty? I don't think your getting the big picture. Where talking about creating a level and character from scratch.
Dear Haku_Ryushi,

You can do more with a map ediotr then yo can ever do in LBP, here is proof....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxEola9zhbs

Lookie here, the lems have already arrived :D Oh yeah, and if LBP will be a AAA? what then huh?
I couldn't care less if it got a AAA score. TC said it will "move many systems" and that my friend is why I will own him.
That is something that is really hard to prove. Nobody will ever know what the ps3 would have sold with or without the game.I know.Omg...When you create the level. Its BLANK, theres nothing there, zero, nada. You create from pure scratch, you dont edit.

A really good and inovative game does move many systems

the level is not there yet, you just have a flat floor and your imagination.
Isn't that what you start with in most level editors? When I created some maps in Half-Life back in the day you started with nothing as well.
Your acting like if thats the only thing LBP has to offer. And that isn't the case.

That is something that is really hard to prove. Nobody will ever know what the ps3 would have sold with or without the game. It's not that hard to figure out. If the PS3 sales don't climb a few notches after the release of LBP, then it didn't move units.
[QUOTE="Haku_Ryushi"]I know but it's basically the same. You have a Level and you can put/take away objects wherever you want. Using Forge on an empty Foundry basically = Using the Map Maker in LBP.Go do some research my friend before you post. Just giving a friendly advice. Also, new contendant : Far Cry 2. Just remembered the Vid of the Map Maker in it.
Can you combine materials to make new things in _?

Not at all. The person I quoted was trying to imply that level creation was innovative. They've been around for, what, over a decade?
What so you mean by that ???Can you combine materials to make new things in Halo 3?
hakanakumono
Example ?
Saying LBP is taking next-gen to a new level is like saying Metallica is taking metal to a new level. The truth is, it'll be another great game admist a season of other great games.
And yes, I'll buy it :)
immortality20
But the important question is, will you be buying Death Magnetic??? :)

You can combine things to make things in LBP. Like a ... sombrero car. But you have to attach everything like you would in the real world (nails, glue, etc).
(In an article that stated that LBP wouldn't be user friendly enough, a tester made a sombrero car.
I believe you can also cut out shapes to make things and stuff but I'm not sure.

LBP is only going to be as good as a player is creative, not anyone can design maps, and judging by how dumb cows seem to be these days, something tells me they aren't going to enjoy the game as much as Sony keeps telling them they will.
Also why are you comparing Halo 3 to LBP? That is the dumbest comparison ever... if you want to compare something compare LBP and N+ which is a fantastic platformer with loads of level creation.

Thats why there are 50 levels included plus the ability to play other people's created levels online. Stop bashing the game. This isn't what i wanted when i created the topic. I wanted a nice discussion.

Yes you could cut out shapes to make things and stuff. :)
After the release is end of October , November , and December. You don't see the ps3 increasing in sales every month from September on through the holidays ?Nike_Air
See what I mean ?
Yeah but the ps3 will have more really cool games in that period, resistance2, motorstorm, socom, naruto(uuuu i'm really exited for naruto :P ) so it's not accurate to say only LBP moved the systems sold in that period :P

How is it minor?
If the game focuses on creativity, and LBP allows for a higher level of creativity (you don't just plop things down you construct and make them) then isn't it a pretty big deal for LBP?
Do any games have a level editor with a focus on creativity like THAT?
Well hopefully it doesn't FLOP like spore. On the topic of spore. Wow, have people forgotten how much it was hyped? There seems to be little backlash for spore's floppage. munu9
Spore is an excellent game and if it wasn't "overhyped" no one would calling it a flop.

Nike_Air
Good point. But I still think the month of November could tell us what kind of impact LBP had on the PS3. Also keep in mind that Fable 2 is being released on the same day, so if there's a huge gap between the PS3 and 360, we'll know what game had a bigger impact.

I was implying that those who consider LBP to be innovative haven't been exposed to games that have those features (mostly on PC) or choose to ignore them.

Fable 2 and 360 sales really don't have anything to do with LBP's ability to sell ps3s to people this holday. Wrong. I was talking about my first post in general. Go read it. Its funny how like to twist my words around. Its also funny how never even mention about the word "bashers" in my comment. So your actually admiting it? Bashing a game won't get you anywhere.

Well we can't know for certain that LBP is overhyped until it comes out, then if it scores AAA it will live up to the hype :D
