Dude got his facts wrong, too. There are new weapons, the railgun and the triple rocket launcher (I forget what it's called). How hard is it to fact check, guys?[QUOTE="Blabadon"]
Whoa, this thread really blew up...

Speaking of which, were the ** did my hype thread disappear to?
Know what? ** it, i'm just to lazy to update it. Duke flopped anyway, he'll never get a 8.0 here.
Still gonna get it, and enjoy it.
Ironically, I posted about IGN's score in your hype thread around the time this thread went up. This one just got the hits.[QUOTE="Ravensmash"]Well, glad I cancelled my preorder - game sounds awful.Lucianu
Such a weak character. @ you depending on other people's opinion, and not having the courage to rely on your own.
And you even post it here, as if its something to be proud of.
No, I just don't feel like dropping £40 on a game that's been getting mediocre (and worse) reviews. I don't solely rely on them, but the reaction from the demo was negative (even from Duke fans on official forum). If it was free or in the bargain bin then maybe I'd be less reluctant to just give it a go, but a 3/10 doesn't exactly inspire me to rush out and pick it up?Good God!!! i mean seriously these people need to be ashamed of themselves!! i cant believe this game is doing THIS bad. not one single site has given it even moderatly tolerable scores! what must the devs be thinking?slvrraven9
Buy cheap IP + add minimal finishing touches + sale on 10+ years of hype = $$$$$$$
And in the end they won't likly even achieve that:lol:

People are upset that it isn't DN3D in hi-def. Just a bunch of hating on modern games (especially any modern shooter franchise), and bile. The only people being constructive on the official forums are politely asking Gearbox to unlock the dev console and release mod tools.[QUOTE="Lucianu"]

Look at all the Goobers pledging to buy it even though it's terrible. Duke Gotta Eat!!!
Or it could be, shocker of shockers, that some of us played the demo and had fun,God forbid. But sure, go ahead. Insult everyone who's interested. Why preorder it in the first place? Curiosity? Wanting to have that piece of history, or what. You knew this game would be bashed to hell and back, everybody did.
Just admit the fact that you rely on other people to tell you what's playable, vieweble or pleasent (or whatever), if you might find something that doesn't fit the crowd you'll aswell refuse to try it out on the basis that other people told you so.
I got nothing to do for the next 20 minutes, so i might as well give you life lessons.

Truthfully, the game shouldn't be on consoles at all. The engine was not built for consoles, and it shows.[QUOTE="Ravensmash"]

(why else are you posting on a video game website - it's obvious you read reviews, like the majority of people do here). I made up my own mind not to part with my cash, regardless of whether it was aided by others and their viewpoints. Not exactly the same, but are you telling me you don't acknowledge Big Rigs as a bad game, because the only person not to call it rubbish is you?Ravensmash
Its a good way to kill the boredom, and no one i know is interested in games from my city/hood. Its nice to discuss games..
Its relative, not absolute, things like these can't be.. put in correlation with eachother the same way. With Big Rigs, its universaly criticized. In DNF's case, a good portion of people enjoyed the demo and enjoys the game (check posts in my thread, and in other threads). Its a love/hate situation. That is not the same thing with Big Rigs, so if people enjoyed the game.. who knows if you would have also, regardless.
And look at the PC version, reviewers have given it a 8.0/10. Ain't the same.

Fair point, but you must understand why I became reluctant to get it at launch for £40, when I didn't even get the advertised opportunity of trying a demo on which to base my purchase, coupled with the poor reaction. If I got the demo, and liked it (and i wanted to at least try it), then I'd have carried on with the preorder.
Maybe the demo will come out and I'll enjoy it enough to purchase, but as of now - I'm glad I cancelled.

YOU MUST NEVER HAVE FUN WITH ANY GAME BELOW 9.5. GOD FORBID THAT YOU EVEN ENJOY A DIRTY 9.0 RATED GAME.

To be honest, if you're buying for consoles I don't blame you. I've read over some of the PC review and its totally different. Everyone else seemed to get the 360 version which apparently is a mess (That, and they're raging Halo fanboys.) I'd either wait for a sale/price drop, or pick it up on PC since it has really low requirements.
Sounds to me like this game is just a clunky out-dated FPS in a Duke Nukem skin. Anyone who pays for this game gets what they deserve...
[QUOTE="McStrongfast"]Tried playing the demo on my 5450-powered PC. Worse than on my 360. Don't get me wrong, the 360 demo is incomprehensibly bad, an absolute disaster, but at least the 360 doesn't give up and skip huge chunks of frames at resolutions above 640x480. Anyway, so I'm not buying this game for a while. The "OMG DUKE! LEGENDARY! MUST GET!" phase went away.bleehumI had no such problems with the demo on my PC, but obviously stuff is different for everyone.

The minimum is a 2600 from ATI or 7600 from Nvidia. Don't get how he possibly had problems. Then again, seemed like most people even with high-end rigs were having problems with it on the PC boards. My machine ran it flawlessly though maxed out.

I might rent the game for s**ts, giggles and nostalgia if I ever find myself with the time to do so but it really does not seem worth my time to play this game over any other number of titles both coming out and just not yet personally played.[QUOTE="Heil68"][QUOTE="ChubbyGuy40"]The minimum is a 2600 from ATI or 7600 from Nvidia. To be honest... It's nothing to lol about. Duke had the potential to be one of the best shooters of our time, considering Duke Nukem 3d. But **** Gearbox had to get their hands on it, a bunch of terrible developers. It's heart-breaking.ampiva
The problem isn't Gearbox - they have seevral games under their belt in the genre that are soild.
The problem is that the subject matter in question was ALWAYS hackneyed, and we know exactly to what extent now. I think it was the joystiq review that said it best (paraphrasing) - this was a game that needed to be released a decade ago for the material to be relevant.
There is no way to make Duke "cool" to an aging gaming population.

He cancelled his preorder based on negative reviews and this is somehow a bad thing? I understand conceptually not agreeing with one or two reviews but I would think it really foolish to bet against the aggregate. Using your logic: You thinking jumping off of a cliff is fun, several people jump of cliff, get horribly injured, tell you about it, and you being the courageous one decide to jump anyway...Please Log In to post.
