How do I edit the Topic? All I meant to say was that ME wasn't coming to the PS3, now it's turned into a console exclusive vs multiplat debate... which wasn't intended... I just wanted to report the news damnit ;)Gesyma

Well you erroneously put "exclusive" in the title, when here on SW the PC counts as a system too. So everyone gets all up in arms about it and the debate rages on. But the rules (here) still stand.

[QUOTE="Trelaf_TheWise"]I think MS is gonna make sure they publish the game but if EA does it expect Mass Effect 2 and 3 for the 360,PC,PS3,WII,MAC,PS2,PSP,Nintendo DS, GBA and Mobile Phone...Trelaf_TheWise

According to IGN and GS, ME2 is being published by EA.

....then....all hope is lost

you....do know EA owns bioware right?

........yes? and your point is.....?

how is EA publishing it a sign of all hope being lost?

tehre hand is in it whether they publish it or not.

If it's not on any other console, by default it's console exclusive.

That however doesn't make it SYSTEM ( SW ;) ) exclusive but........

So what, we all (99% I guess ) have a PC but not necessarily a Gaming PC that will even run M.E. :?

Who decides THAT? Not that I disagree or anything but how the hell are we supposed to determine what it is when everyone has their own definition?

if i remember there was a SW vote, where people who hate the 360 wanted to remove gears, bioshock and ME from any 360 game lists.

[QUOTE="ragek1ll589"]Console exclusive, since it does appear on PC.Steakdinner

There's no such thing as a console exclusive.

so its on ps3 and wii then?

No, but something is either exclusive and can only be found in one place or on one platform and Mass Effect is not one of them.

Hmm interesting, so according to this theory would it be correct to say that Tekken 6 isnt a PS3 exclusive as i can go down the street to the arcade to play it? I mean it fits your description of what classifies something as non-exclusive as it can be played elswhere without owning a ps3 right?

can you go down teh street and buy the arcade version?

Damn, I remember playing Mass Effect recently, but that can't be true since I have no 360! :o I must be going crazy or something. mr_mozilla

Was it a "games for windows" title or just a regular ole' pc game? I'm not trying to prove anything by the question I'm just curious...

Thats just a loophole used by Microsoft and Lemmings against the PS3/Wii is holds no real ground.

xsubtownerx

So I guess regional exlusives are loopholes also?

Region restricted games have been around forever and I've just now started hear people starting to claim exclusivity on them with games like Eternal Sonata (when it wasn't scheduled for the U.S.). Gamecube owners didn't do it with Tales Of Symphonia last gen.

My point is that if Microsoft publishes it it'll stay on the 360 but if EA publishes it they'll embarrass the Mass Effect name by releasing it on every console and handheld including mobile phone

Do what you wish. Just seems pretty illogical considering that, you know...it IS exclusive to the 360 among the other consoles. I'm just not apt to letting the ToS of gaming boards dictating to how I should I think regarding things in the real world.

Yeah I know I'm bending the rules, it's because the 360 and PS3 are the only systems I own and are the only two I care about. For example I consider Mass Effect to be a 360 exclusive and MLB: The Show to be PS3 exclusive even though they technically aren't. Basically, if the 360 has a game the PS3 doesn't, I would consider it to be a 360 exclusive and vice-versa.

If consoles are what are being referred to (as it clearly is, in this case), then how is it not a console exclusive? No, that term does not exist in this board, and for good reason. But why shouldn't it in real life?

Directly from Bioware's website: OS requirements are "Windows XP and Vista". I'm pretty sure that you need Microsoft's products in order to play this game. It's not rocket science... I hate to even start making points like this but this forum is out of control with trying to execute these ultra precise courtroom like arguments... if you have only a PS3 and no Microsoft Operated PC or 360 you can't play the game."

If anything, considering a game a console exclusive is even more about SW then real life. In real life, when you go to the store there's a PC and a console version. It's not exclusive. In the real world, where having more AAAEs is not used to own fanboys on an Internet forum, there is no reason for the specification of console "exclusive.

Well man, this battles going to rage on whether you could change the title or not. Dont worry about it, no ones going to remember tomorrow. When people in SW get bored we like to beat the nearest dead horse just to keep "honing" our skills for the next big debate.

[QUOTE="Floppy_Jim"]Pretty much a 360 exclusive as far as I'm concerned, I consider any shared 360/PC game to be 360 exclusive. I don't particularly care about the "Official rules of System Wars". I mean, it's an internet forum for goodness sake......Gesyma

if it's shared, it can't be exclusive.

Yeah you need Windows. You also need a video card from either ATI or Nvidia. An AMD or Intel processor. A keyboard. A mouse. A monitor. All of which are equally important to playing the game has having Windows.

So then the game belongs to which company?

Thats just a loophole used by Microsoft and Lemmings against the PS3/Wii is holds no real ground.

I suggest taking a break from SW. We're talking about real life here, not the rules of some petty gaming debate board.

I don't consider those exclusive here or in the real world.

Do what you wish. Just seems pretty illogical considering that, you know...it IS exclusive to the 360 among the other consoles. I'm just not apt to letting the ToS of gaming boards dictating to how I should I think regarding things in the real world.

If anything, considering a game a console exclusive is even more about SW then real life. In real life, when you go to the store there's a PC and a console version. It's not exclusive. In the real world, where having more AAAEs is not used to own fanboys on an Internet forum, there is no reason for the specification of console "exclusive.

For the consoles, you can only find Mass Effect on the 360. It is exclusive to it in the realm of consoles. Seems logical to me, but perhaps it is relative.

the pc and the 360 are not the same thing. they are two different platforms. if it's on more than one platform, it's not exclusive. it's multiplatform.

that depends how you use the word exclusive

correctly or incorrectly

maybe i should sue TV stations for incorrectly advertising 'Network Premiere'.

I was talking about the core definition of something being exclusive if it's found in more then one place how is it exclusive?

If consoles are what are being referred to (as it clearly is, in this case), then how is it not a console exclusive? No, that term does not exist in this board, and for good reason. But why shouldn't it in real life?

"Console exclusive" isn't a term I've ever seen used in real life.

Look, we all know that, logically speaking, a game that is available on the PC and the 360 cannot be considered an "exclusive".

However, be that as it may, we should still consider the ramifications of games that are in that position not being on other platforms like PS3 or Wii.

Yes, by SW rules, games like ME and GeoW cannot be used as exclusives; but, simply looking at it from a logical real world standpoint, these games not being on PS3 is meaningful when examining the war between the 360 and PS3 specifically.

With that as the case, I see no reason why the ME trilogy not going to PS3 cannot be claimed as ownage, and, as such, I hereby claim said ownage.

What does you having seen it in use or not have to do with it?

The game belongs to Bioware and the people that purchase it... however, if they don't have a 360 or a Microsoft based OS they're not playing the game... that was my point.
