[QUOTE="ragek1ll589"]Console exclusive, since it does appear on PC.Albanian_Killa

There's no such thing as a console exclusive.

360 fans are in denial  I don't see PS3 fans going "The Agency is exclusive!". They treat it as multiplat, but being that the 360s AAA titles except 2 are on PC, they don't see the PC as a system lol

Sony also dosent have a pc operating system, that they but all the first party titles on.

You can run almost any Windows game on Linux easy.Seriously, stop being such a fanboy and accept the facts. MS didn't invent the PC, just a **** OS they sold to the mass market who had no clue about the crap that was Windows.

For the last ****** time dont call me a fanboy. Just because I dont agree with you, dosent make me a fanboy.

the pc and the 360 are not the same thing. they are two different platforms. if it's on more than one platform, it's not exclusive. it's multiplatform.

Albanian_Killa

Ignore the facts fanboy. The facts are all three platforms are individual. I can play Mass Effect on Linux if I want. If it's on more than one system, the word "Multi" comes in. Multiplatform.

The fact that you're bringing up "Company Exclusive" shows you're a fanboy. This is System Wars like Casey said. I only see 360 fanboys arguing that.

I am in no way a fanboy, so keep our insults to yourself.

Im not the one who brought it up, I made a comment on it. I am in titled to my opinion. Just because Im not a PC fanboy dosent make me a MS fanboy.

without Microsoft you can't play the game.

is the title of this forum company wars?

So we just ignore facts, because we have to go by the forum rules and titles? Doesn't make it any less true.

and why would that fact even matter? it DOES NOT change the fact that the pc and the 360 are two different platforms.

I dont see why its so hard to comprehend its muliplatform. First, lets look at the current platforms, PS3, 360, Wii, PC. Now lets look at the meaning of a multiplatform game - A game which is on 2 or more platforms. Mass Effect 360/PC = Multiplatform.

 Regardless of what you think, its a multiplatform game :)

Why are people talking about whether it is multiplatform or not? The thread is stating that it won't go to the PS3, not whether or not it will continue to be on Microsoft platforms.

they are having problems getting to the 360

http://www.siliconera.com/2008/07/14/more-on-multiplatform-final-fantasy-xiii/

right now it's on the pc ready and working to go

CaseyWegner

where does it say that?

here

http://www.finalfantasyxiii.net/

there is another website that goes into detail about the problem

dude. where? give us a quote.

I guess he can't give a quote if it doesn't exist.

Funny how he thinks that if he can keeps giving links to nothing that this will just go away.

Should of just accepted getting owned by the first poster who called him out on it. But I'm sure he will try to post another link that leads to nothing or stop posting in this thread and pretend like it never happen.

Good thing Microsoft did not buy the Mass Effect series......everyone says companies want to make games multiplat to maximize sales, but MS throws that money around and good by multiplats haha.

if it's shared, it can't be exclusive.

Directly from Bioware's website: OS requirements are "Windows XP and Vista". I'm pretty sure that you need Microsoft's products in order to play this game. It's not rocket science... I hate to even start making points like this but this forum is out of control with trying to execute these ultra precise courtroom like arguments... if you have only a PS3 and no Microsoft Operated PC or 360 you can't play the game."

Yeah you need Windows. You also need a video card from either ATI or Nvidia. An AMD or Intel processor. A keyboard. A mouse. A monitor. All of which are equally important to playing the game has having Windows.

So then the game belongs to which company?

That doesn't really prove anything. The console also "needs" a video card and processor.

Consoles also need a controller, which can come from different companies. All are important to playing the game as well.

In fact, If you need Vista or XP to play the game, you are giving just as much to MS as if you bought their console. Maybe more, as the Windows software is most likely more profitable than the console.

But in either case, you have to give nearly $300 to MS to play it.

Would we not call a Wii or PS3 game exclusive because it's on their respective handhelds?

In your scenario, unless you are counting the person buying a top of the line Vaio just to play the game, MS is making the most money. Laptops do not have THAT much profit in them. Although Sony's do have the most compared to other major brands.

But Sony would have paid MS for the software in the laptop, plus MS gets the money from you buying the game (edit: in cases where they are the publisher), and the developer buying MS software to make the game.

Why do you think MS makes billions a year? ;-)

Yet another point that proves exclusivity is based on software not hardware. 360/pc = same (microsoft) ps2/ps3 = same (sony) GC/wii = same (Nintendo). What hardware you play on means nothing, its the software company that you paid to play the game on. Ie a console or windows.

Microsoft, then. Because the OS is the only aspect where you have no company-specific choice on the matter. It's Windows or nothing (because AFAIK you can't use Wine on it, especially if there's a DX10 mode). On every other aspect, you can choose between companies

Sure there is, it's a game you can only play on one console. Just because hermits hate being left out of system wars discussions doesn't make the term "console exclusive" a fallacy; it's just not quite as strict a definition as an all-out exclusive.

If Mass Effect never comes out on the PS3, than cows will be missing out on what looks to be a fantastic trilogy. So for their sakes, I hope this isn't true. However, this is good news for the 360, if it stays..."console exclusive".

wrong. it is not excluisve because it is available on pc

No you are wrong, the PC is still a microsoft console. Unless you found a way to run it on linux or Mac OS....? I'm waiting?

microsoft makes the operating system. it's only one component that makes a pc work. besides, there are games that use the operating systems you mentioned. :?

Like what? I'm almost certain you can count the games big-ticket Linux games with one hand, and don't mention Wine because it can't do DX10.

The games you mentioned were not published by Microsoft or Sony... Mass Effect IS published by Microsoft and the only reason this news is interesting is because of the EA Bioware merger, everyone then assumed the series would go to the PS3. The boss says it won't.

It sounds to me more like Lemmings don't want to be left out of the equation. It's not a simple matter of the PC just being a place for ports; there are still numerous exclusives on the horizon for the system. Unless someone games on all four systems, there is simply no way they'll be able to play all the "next-generation" exclusives. Some people try to make choices - PC/PS3 is one such popular choice. If games such as Mass Effect and Gears of War were not available for the PC... that is, if the 360 was the only place those games could be played... the argument for needing a 360 would be that much stronger.

please guys just stop saying if it is on a console and PC it is not exclusive. did anyone else notice that in the Nintendo press conference a E3 that the said that the Wii was THE ONLY CONSOLE TO HAVE SPORE and they didn't even mention the PC.

Man analysts recognize console exclusives, so does Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony why doesn't system wars recognize it.

more than one system...multiplatform. there's no way around it.

JediRiff

Topic fixed. Please let this argument go.

Sadly, the fantastic news about Mass Effect has been hijacked by all this mess. I understood what you meant to begin with...

If you trim out all this extra debate going on here, then it boils down to two things that matter to me..

Mass Effect is coming out in '09

Mass Effect is remaining on the two systems its out on now, and that will not change.

The rest is unimportant.

And that makes sense. As ME is a trilogy in which you need to be able to play it from the beginning, the trilogy should only appear on systems where the first game has appeared.

please guys just stop saying if it is on a console and PC it is not exclusive. did anyone else notice that in the Nintendo press conference a E3 that the said that the Wii was THE ONLY CONSOLE TO HAVE SPORE and they didn't even mention the PC.

Man analysts recognize console exclusives, so does Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony why doesn't system wars recognize it.

Just like Bioshock was never going to the PS3?

Or how Final Fantasy XIII was designed specifically for the PS3?

Yeah...

Gesyma

The games you mentioned were not published by Microsoft or Sony... Mass Effect IS published by Microsoft and the only reason this news is interesting is because of the EA Bioware merger, everyone then assumed the series would go to the PS3. The boss says it won't.

So if you're a PS3 owner who doesn't have a 360 or a decent PC, You can kiss Mass Effect (one of the greatest games ever made) goodbye

a smaller company well take bio-wares ideas and produce a much better game pc. They would also maybe enhance it by by far

Well that is already busted as the first is on the PC but if you just mean not on the PS3 or Wii (Different then the title) then I wouldn't doubt it "if" MS is publishing the games.Ibacai

I think they mean timed exclusive. It'll be released on the Xbox 360 first for about 6-8 months and then eventually trickle onto the PC. It'll be console exclusive though and that's all the matters to console owners. Most console gamers don't care if it goes to the PC 6-8 months later because they have already beaten the game by then and it's irrelevant. Just like PC gamers don't care if PC exclusive games like Surpreme Command, Civilization Revolution. LOTR: Battle for Middle Earth 2 and Universe at War come to consoles months later. Hermits don't care about that, now do they? There you go. ;)

Not sure how credible this is but I thought I'd pass on the information.

Linkage.

superjim42

wrong. it is not excluisve because it is available on pc

Uumm Mass Effect 2 & 3 are not on the PC and probably won't be until many, many months after it's on the Xbox 360. So yes, it will be exclusive for the XBox 360 for awhile. They are talking about the sequels, not the 1st game by the way.

Timed exclusives do matter. Because most of the gamers who'd want to play the game will get it soon after it comes out. Usually, six months is all that is required to saturate the market of people who were going to buy the game in any circumstance. By the time a second version comes out...who's left to buy it? That's why having GTA4 day-and-date helped the 360 a lot. That's why the day-and-date announcement of the NA FF13 is such a big deal.

Its nothing personal, console only gamers just dont care about pc gaming. I dont have anything against it, just dont care about it. That why if a 360 game goes to pc and not ps3, its the same to me as if it was only on the 360. Hermits take this issue so personally, its not.

They better care, or the PC will start taking their games away from them. For example, rumors are flying that the Crystal Tools Square Enix used to develop FF13 is in fact a PC...leaving that a wide-open potential target for the release of FF13. Increasing numbers of arcade machines are based on PCs, leaving porting to PCs much more viable. It didn't happen for VF5 (probably because the Lindbergh runs Linux), but SF4 is definitely in the cards. Add in reducded development costs and considerably superior hardware (which will only continue to improve as we creep towards 2010--all the while getting cheaper), and you have a recipe for a high defection potential.

PS. And Europe has always been PC-friendly.

It doesn't matter to the people who already purchased the game. Most people will want the game on DAY ONE. Like you said. For people who don't play PC games, they aren't going to care if it's timed exclusive or not.

It's not SW's fault that you are a limited gamer. Gamers care about the PC because they care about games.

I still dont care. If all the good games start going to pc only, and consoles suck. I will just buy a gaming pc. I bought a 360/ps3/wii and a 3000 tv for this gen. If needs be, I can afford a gaming pc. Seems like you took it personally, again.
