Metroid Prime: Federation Force | Hype Thread | 5/10 Federation Flop

@lamprey263: I dont know, they still got Paper Mario and Pokemon coming out. Plus a bunch of other games are coming to 3DS. Dragon Quest XI, Monster Hunter Story, Shin Megami Tensi, YOKAI Watch 2, Phoenix Wright, etc.

But yeah, as for Wii U, yeah, Nintendo is saving it seems for NX. I mean heck, they straight told us that Zelda was being held for NX.

No surprise it flopped hard. Game looked like garbage from day one.

This is Nintendo for you, releasing a bunch of exclusives but the quality of their exclusives are below indie level.

Knew this would happen, make a hype thread for a game EVERYONE knew they were going to hate, and it gets a score that justifies it.

Where did I say anything about better scores? Even I don't care to play this game at all. I said that "everyone was going to hate it" (I'm not as dumb as you think, I know why you said 10/10) and I was right, but yet people made a damn hype thread anyway DESPITE them hating it. Aliens: Colonial Marines had a better stance for a hype thread. Duke Nukem Forever had an understandable stance for a hype thread and those two games tarnished Gearbox's reputation BADLY.

Of course after this game, I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo is finished with this series, yet fans will complain that there will be no Metroid.

@nintendoboy16: Let the people have their hype threads. Let Nintendo see what is happening to the industry. If Nintendo and its fans cant survive the haters, then theyll die like the rest of the industries franchises. Let them make a Paper Mario: Color Splash Hype Thread too, we needs all the help we can get. Even if that help is in the form of spite, we can still use it for greatness.

Nintendo fans were gonna abandon this hype thread, i could feel it cause i wanted to do the same. It would have put out the fire. But instead of putting out the fire, its better to let it burn. Its purifies them.

They have fires ready for Color Splash and Breath of the Wild too. Will be some fun flames to play with.

I didnt know I had so much sway over reviewers. You got me though, I made a hype thread for a game everyone was going to hate to ensure it got the 5 it deserved. If I didnt post anything before the release date Peter Brown was just supposed to give it an honest 10/10, but if my hype thread shows up then he has to rework his review to make it a 5 to match the hype thread (do you actually think he wanted to check the online?). I even hyped it at the awful score of 6/10 *gasp*. It was all part of my plan from the beginning and I would have got away with it if it werent for that meddling nintendoboy16!!!!!

Never said you had any sway. When I said "everyone was going to hate it" I mean EVERYONE! Critical previews were bad. Gamers initial opinions (see: YouTube and the petition to cancel the game) were bad. Yet, despite all that, a hype thread was still made, which gives the implication of a troll/sabotage on the sheep here (and I fell into it, granted).

Way to miscontrue what I said into something else (and like I said to Sanchez, even I don't care to play it).

Besides, if there was a game I felt didn't deserve it's score, I'd tell you, and the few examples I got deserve LOWER than what they got (SMG2 and Bayo 2 10/10, Smash 4 Wii U 9/10; not sure yet on Bayo 2, but SMG2 deserves an 8, while Smash 4 deserves a 7/10).

A very fair score for a terrible metroid game and the worst metroid game in the series.

But for me this is not even a metroid game.....fans have done a lot better job with the AM2R.Fans do what Nintendon't.Nintendo is a joke.

I think you are thinking too deep into this, with it being such a divisive game I was curious were people thought it was going to land considering most people were ranting about the concept rather than the actual gameplay. It really averaged out around a 6/10 hype from just eyeballing it and really I just did it for fun. Was it super sarcastic? No Ya, but all I did was put the official plot description, the official details about the game and a description of the controversy surrounding it in a way that I enjoyed writing and would hope people enjoyed reading. There is no sabotage here because the image of the game was already very bad and if anything I got people thinking about it again like iandizion713 said (especially since gs had little to no news about it leading up to the review). I actually have the game too so its not really a troll attempt, but if people want to get mad I dont see why it would be at a inconsequential hype thread when the ship was sunk way before

You have forgotten this is System Wars right? You know how big hype threads are treated on this forum, much to the point of baiting opposite sides if a game flops?

And yeah, maybe I do think a hype thread for something like Federation Force is pointless if there's no trolling involved. I might as well have made a hype thread for Dragon Ball Xenoverse or a new Naruto fighter. They ain't going to be received well anyway (though many in the FGC might sooner defend those over Smash), so why do it?

I would try this, but there's nothing here that holds my interest respective to Metroid. I've never played this series for multi-player, shooting has only ever been a means to an end--necessary to be able to explore one vast, interconnected world to be progressed through with power-ups--and the childish aesthetic robs it of any atmosphere. There's simply nothing here that has defined the series for me. If it's good on its own merits, fine, but I'm not obligated to like this game simply because I'm a Metroid fan and it's called Metroid even when it has near nothing to do with its forebears.

@GameboyTroy: I was just joking, i already watched them both, i was actually surprised they enjoyed the game so much, they didnt receive Star Fox Zero all that well. So when both praised the game to high heaven, i was a little shocked. I figured theyd be hunting clicks on this one. Theyve earned a lot of my respect in doing so.

@iandizion713: naw they liked star fox zero too from what I remember. Gamexplain has always been pro-nintendo so a positive review on a divisive game from them is no surprise

hopefully flop in sales as well then Nintendo will shelf this forever. :P

@iandizion713: For the most part they are usually positive. They seem to let a lot of things slide that bug me a lot personally. Any Nintendo game really they give a positive review except a few and even then they dont destroy it

If Nintendo are not careful they will be shelved forever.

@aigis: He bout destroyed Star Fox Zero. He didnt like a lot about the game. Which to be fair, matched a bunch of other critics complaints. Star Fox Zero was a very mixed received game.

They both are pretty harsh on Nintendo, i always felt they do it for clicks. But maybe they just feel that way. They get upset, but then back to being hyped again. Always lots of concerns with them, they always poking at stuff.

The gameplay looks solid.

I dont know about the other guy, but Gamexplain for sure is in love with Nintendo. They are pretty consistently on Nintendo's side for anything and all they talk about is how great Nintendo is

@aigis: That he liked it overall, but that doesnt mean he still wasnt harsh. He stated the controls are so complicated that by time you get use to them the game is over and it dont have much replayability. Thats a pretty harsh criticism when the game is designed for replayability.

@iandizion713: thats not harsh at all, he said once you got the controls he was in his almighty zen-like state and said they were great. It really doesnt change the fact that overall he recommends the game still. He could have been way more harsh

@aigis: He said once you finally get the controls, the game is bout over. But thats not true, Star Fox Zero has a ton of replayability including secret stages and bosses, points, etc. But yeah, he could have been way worst.

@iandizion713: I think his complaint was that the replayability was diminished because the game allowed you to replay a level at any time allowing you to replay the same level until you get the outcome you want. I think they thought the 64 campaign style would have been better, but still they said the gameplay was solid. This was a game that could have easily been given a lot more criticism

@aigis: No thats bad enough. Game dont even deserve that. Star Fox Zero was awesome. But Federation Force i feel is a little better. Federation Force is just my style of game.

@iandizion713: i dunno, they arent awful games, but they both have disappointed me. Especially control wise...

@aigis: Yeah but you dont like motion controls in general, so its kinda expected. I mean heck, you disliked Splatoon because of it. I mean its no wonder you rated it a 3 since you rated Splatoon a 4. Im just surprised you liked Star Fox Zero more then both. Also surprised you keep buying motion control games when youve stated countless times you dislike them.

that was one of the reasons in a long line for splatoon, but I really only hate gyro controls not motion controls in general

@aigis: Yeah, i love them. Seems their not for everyone. Thank goodness critics havnt complained yet. Its great to have innovative controls.

@iandizion713: I dont really think they are all that innovative. The biggest problem I have is not having the option to turn them off in a lot of Nintendo games recently...

@aigis: Yeah, thank goodness on Splatoon, Star Fox Zero, and Federation Force you can turn on the more traditional controls. People love them too.
