[QUOTE="SUD123456"] [QUOTE="bonethug1213"]lol notice how its all the dumb lemmings are posting in here, smarter ones know better. Ok dumb dumbs, the game has been moved from a late Q1 release to a Q2 release. for all we know it was moved from the last week of march to the the first week of april. OH NOES A 1 WEEK DELAY !!???!! ARRRGH THE CELL IS CRAP !!!Mordred19
They wouldn't have issued a press release 5 months ahead of time for that.
Ergo, it is considered a material delay by Konami who aren't advising you the gamer so much as the financial markets.
The reasons are stated in the release....which primarily comes down to meeting the quality expectation of the fanbase.
Which means that the game is not ready yet, at the standard they expect/need.
Why it is not ready yet is unknown/not publicly disclosed, but rampant speculation that it is because of the programming difficulties with the PS3 architecture is not unreasonable.
One does not incur the continued cost of a huge development team for no reason. And one doesn't suddenly decide 80% of the way there to add a whole bunch of new content. They are having problems. Lots of games have problems....but the PS3 has more than their fairshare.
So it would be naive not to expect bashing...this is SW after all.
It's not cell difficulties, this is not some multiplat we're talking about here. The game has been in development since 05. Difficulty with Cell programming doesn't just pop up at this late date, especially after we have seen the playable version. Basic optimization starts way early, when they are actaully writing out that code. Any problems with the Cell were dealt with a long time ago. They are just going for perfection, or as close to it as possible. The past MGS games were all highly polished, so MGS4 would not be much different.
You could be right. But like I said, in the absence of further information it would not be unreasonable to speculate about the PS3 architecture.
You could also be wrong. Because being off by quarter on just polishing and announcing that 5 months ahead of time seems highly unlikely. It is not like they have suddenly realized they need a higher polish standard...that was a given objective at the outset. Therefore, something has delayed the overall project plan. Just as it might not be PS3 architecture...it also might be hopeful thinking on your part.
In any case....the key is/was.....it is not unreasonable to speculate PS3 architecture when there are many instances of that being the case. There are plenty of exclusive and there are plenty of multiplats, which are in simultaneous development (not ports) that have noted PS3 architecture challenges.
