MGS4 graphics! King of graphics on consoles!

those shots were definately not in-engine. there is such a descrepency with the existing screen-shots, prehaps they were promotional images i don't know but NOT rendered using the game engine, look at all the other screenshots of the game.

im not bashing, im REALLY hyped for MGSIV, just not its graphics your not seriously telling me this;

VISUALS=outstanding.

I ahve to agree that in motion looks better, but would i ever be impressed by such graphics ? no way in hell this gen, they are just working and passable, but impressive are not for me, far from it

Resident Evil 5 kills both including gears 2...but whatever.

MGS4 looks superb with some of the best character models, the game has to be played to really appreacite the visuals, stated by many impressions.

I dont know about you guys, but I have the preorder disc of Metal Gear Saga 2. If you watch the disc, not every version of the trailor has the same detail of graphics. The very first trailor in 2006 looks terrible, at the level of MGS3, but as you go down the list it gets much better.

Now what got my attention and has me wondering more than anything is the Prologue section. If you were to watch that, it blows everything else away, including Crysis and Killzone 2. I can't seem to validate if the actual game looks like it does in the Prologue. If it does, then I know for a fact this will be the best looking game in its time.

I owned Uncharted, Gears of War and so far this game blows both of them out from what I am seeing.

If someone knows about the Prologue, and has played the actual game, please give me some type of hint to let me know if that is how the final version of the game looks.

it may well use the engine, the faces of the Gears soldiers looked so much better in the cut scenes than in gameplay, and all they were "in engine" are you seriously trying to say that the pic of snakes face is taken from gameplay, i cannot see the "its not final build" quotes holding up come release when you all get your shoddy textures and what appears to be bog standard gameplay graphics, which lets face it, games have been this way for-ever cutscenes are rendered better than gameplay. its a FACT - anyone who disagrees is a blind fanboy, (in more than one sense)

Um are maybe you are just clueless? Try rotating the camera by snakes face close up during gameplay and you will see it looks identical to what it does in cutscenes this goes for all MGS games always has and always will be. The only thing cutscenes do diffrently is add dramatic camera effects.

LOL.....Looks good but still not as good as Gears of War or Uncharted. Mass Effect says hello as well....

Gears of War has much better looking face textures.

i dont think i am clueless. i just dont see how it can be true, there is no way that is a rendered face in real time gameplay. i will believe it when i see it. how come all the other "gameplay" screenshots look average, the textures are terrible and bland, why have some amazing detail on the face of the character during gameplay, (you aren't looking at the characters face am i wrong) and have the environments look crap. i am not denying its a nice looking game, but it just doesn't hold up to the gameplay screenshots. look earlier in the thread where i posted the pics of the oil barrel and snake sniping from a lying position. i personally dont care if the face is as good as you say it is, but those screens are not impressive in any way. just try and deny it.

I would believe MGS4 is indeed the current Console King of Graphics. I guess it all depends on what aspect of the graphics you value the most. For sure, there are certain aspects which are better in Gears 2 or Uncharted, but in my opinion MGS4 definitely offers the overall best graphical package.

Although next year either Killzone 2 or Resident Evil 5 ought to take the title.

I happen to own MGS4, and the in game visuals are totally nothing special, levels are usually tiny too, or rather empty if they are bigger, nothing to even call great there

my friend is a huge mgs fan and he owns a 360 and ps3

he was not entirely impressed with mgs4 though... not like he played gears or anything other than cod:waw recently to compare but he was asking me what the best looking console game is, i told him mgs 4 was in the debate with gears and uncharted and he didn't really think mgs4 looked amazing

I agree MGS4 has the best graphics on the PS3, not only it looks the best it's the overall best game on the PS3. I have a feeling Killzone 2 will take it's place next year.

yeah uncharted had real EYE POPPING visuals. but MGS4 looks beautiful throughout. Besides, MGS games always went for a mixture between real/anime look in its graphics. more stylized. Uncharted goes for straight up realism.

As of right now GEOW2 is console graphics king, it has won numerous polls here. And don't say polls mean nothing bc cows were not saying that when we did the same for Uncharted which was the consolse graphics king, MGS4 never was. Killzone 2 will dethrone Gears and then RE5, Alan Wake, Heavy Rain and Uncharted 2 will have something to say later on.
