Lol missed a verb there, and a type...gem = game.

[QUOTE="Anjunaddict"]Pretty much every Kinect game they announced is a new IP :P But seriously, what you said doesn't even make sense. Technically, yes. But does it count as a gem for us true gamers? Nope. They are gimmicks. And you are going to LOADS of shovelware before they realise ''Hey, we should get back developing a new franchise and/or sequel to our AA(A) games. Eh, I really don't think we'll be seeing any shovelware from Microsofts 1st party.[QUOTE="Locutus_Picard"] If they were competent, we'd see new IP's by now. But nope.Locutus_Picard

^ That's pretty decent for the system. But I'm not going to pay $170 for better cooling, bigger HDD I don't really need, and wi-fi I don't need.
+ Less energy usage and less heat production?
That ain't worth an upgrade?Locutus_Picard
Can't say it is for me.
Nice deal for new 360 buyers though.

I don't get it, do people love getting ripped off?
They are discontinuing the old xbox models so eventually they'll have to replace old 360 models with new ones when they break.
That's just speculation by me tho.
What about Kingdoms? No real info on it but it's something.[QUOTE="SolidTy"]
So, Going into this E3 I knew about Halo Reach, GeoW3, and Fable 3 as the big 1st party games I can get this holiday season like I planned and GeoW3 in 2011. Heck, we even knew Natal was to be coming before this E3. Sure, We got some information on XBL updates, 360 'slim', and Kinect games...but I'm talking about games I planned on getting prior to E3. I still have the same game list.:|
Now after a big huge show, I still have that same information...it's too bad Kinect didn't grab me. This is an all their eggs in one basket dealio, and if you aren't hyped by Kinect, well this E3 wasn't so great.
Karnage108
The way I see it, Microsoft (atleast in their mind) is pretty much covered till the next E3. It looks like they'll be launching another summer of arcade and they'll have Crackdown 2, Fable 3, and Halo: Reach to get them into 2011 where Gears 3 and Kinect will probably be getting all the attention. At next year's E3 or earlier, hopefully that's when we'll know more of what's to come other than Kingdoms and more Kinect support. I don't disagree but i'm just saying why going into E3 with your expectations on a checklist may have not been the best idea.
The checklist wouldn't be needed if I had a ton of games I knew about before the show, but it's not a ton of games, it's a tiny list we already knew about beforehand...as it is, there isn't enough new games. Other than a game we know almot nothing about (Kingdoms by FPS devs Crytek), you just listed what we already already knew coming from the 1st Parties provided by Xbox from last year. Summer of Arcade BTW, doesn't affect me at all, the games they offer I already own. It's essentially discounts on games I already have. Not that I should have to depend on arcade titles.
I'm not satisfied with knowing about the the tiny amount of big games before the Biggest show, and after seeing those same games repeated to me by Xbox PR. Let's face it, It's a small list.
It just feels like a rerun, and I wasn't satisfied with this year's small amount of offerings and many were told, WAIT TILL E3!!!, well, I did. Now, Here I am, still with the same list I had before. As far as Crackdown 2, I have the first game. If it gets AMAZING reviews, and is up there with Red Dead Revolver, I may actually pay the full $60 for it. As it is, I have been worried about the game for about a year now. I think it iwll be A (Hopefully AA), so anything higher than that will be a huge bonus. Like I said, it just comes down to the old standby's, Halo : Reach and Fable 3 for me this year. Tiny list, and I was hoping E3 would rectify that. Next year I got GeoW3, but as far as this year, I'm looking at 2 titles, maybe 3 depending on Crackdown's reviews, to buy. That's just disappointing. I knew about that tiny list of games before E3.

Thats a horrible deal. Trading in my elite would net me $165, thats just ridiculous. So many other ways where I could get more for your old system and in cash too. Another reason why I don't go to gamestop

To pay for? 5 years later? No, I wouldn't say so.
That's what the corporation would probably hope for, that we all think "What a great deal!"
Nope, not a good deal, sorry. I already have two 360's, and I have 2 PS3's, and I didn't buy a Slim PS3 either.
I don't just keep rebuying hardware over and over. People shouldn't do that imo.
DS > DS lite > DSi > DSi XL, etc. I have been happy with my DS Lite, and I will look into the 3DS, but you get the idea. I'm not into giving giant corporations free money, Gamestop or M$ or who ever.

[QUOTE="subrosian"][QUOTE="JTH_22"]
Yes if you're a moron who lifts his 360 and turns it back and forth while a disc is spinning you'll scratch it.
1stPlaceWinner
Well since NO OTHER GAMING SYSTEM, EVER had this problem, people discovered it accidentally. It's kind of bull - you can move a PSP while the game is spinning, you can move a PS1, PS2, PS3, Gamecube, Wii, Dreamcast, etc... while the game is spinning. You can even move a SEGA CD while the the game is spinning. Original Xbox? No problem. Xbox 360 was the first system to have this problem, and it could have been prevented with $0.50 worth of foam rubber at the top of the disc drive.
That's just poor engineering - you design products for the real world, you have to go "how will people use this?" And the reality is people will move things while they're in use.
-
Kinect is just another example of how Microsoft isn't designing for reality. There's no casual audience there that Nintendo hasn't tapped. The cross-section of "people who really liked the Wii" and "people who want a Wii-knockoff for slightly improved visuals" is tiny. They could target their own hardcore demographic, but they seem to have chosen not to do that (as Sony as been ripping on them for) and frankly that wouldn't last long as their core would be annoyed by any type of impression in the video controls. In other words, unless the motion control is literally perfect, not a single glitch happens ever, it will not work for that audience.
-
The response from Microsoft fans has been to attack anyone who disagrees, but why? How are we the idiots for wanting good design?
I definitely agree.Look I'vegot two 360's in my home (my son and myself) and a PS3. You know how many scratched discs we've had after hundreds of hours of gaming ZERO. Would a non-tray system be better sure but doing something like that with a console while the game is running is completely unnecessary. So while wanting it changed is fine making it out to be some unforgivable sin is ridiculous. It's simple don't jerk it around while a disc is running and you won't scratch your game. It's not about being a Microsoft "fan" (funny how when you see something like this differently you're immediately labeled some sort of fanboy  ) it's about this being blown out of proportion. I have yet to see one person making an issue out of this give me one GOOD reason for doing that with your console while the game is running.(other than the obvious trying to cause this problem case you see in the video). If someone has a need to pick their console up and pack it around with them while they play a game then I guess the 360 isn't for them, ofcourse they don't have to buy it.
[QUOTE="wolverine4262"]meh, seems like you will be bored in an hour or so don't really see the appeal of this I think it looks awesome. Sure Ill pick up some other titles too (Previews say most everything shown for it is great), but this is more up my alley. Its official! Whenever Child Of Eden comes out, I am getting Kinect. This game is sick!

Apparently I've been going to the Microsoft press conference twice a week for the last 4 weeks and not even noticing. I was wondering why there was so much security when I went to the Galen Center for volleyball practice hahahahaha.

It depends I guess. I could trade in my 20 GB 360 + 3 old/worn out yet fully working controllers for a new 250 GB 360 and pay a difference of $95 (though more depending on if I buy an additional controller or two; I don't really need 4). Is that so crazy? Hmm.. I'll have to think about it a bit more. That made me feel even worse :(Anyone feeling down? Just a little depressed? Need a pick me up?

That made me feel even worse :( I'm sad now.... Microsoft should cut the crap and get out a new console, they're kinda falling. I mean nothing against quality, but their lead over the PS3 is dwindling, only slowly, but anything is significant, and they are losing the motion control war on all fronts now. The 360 is getting a bad image now, they gotta take the first step into next gen, beat the 3DS. Then agian M$ is safe for money, they aren't just games....[QUOTE="FIipMode"]

Have MS said anythign about new core games, since e3? Or am I just to assume they haven't completely copped out and pulled a Nintendo.

Rare is doing some sports game for Kinect. I'm sure I saw their logo pop up during one of the videos at the conference.
I think it was the Kinect sports game, but i'm talking about core games. Surely MS didn't buy Rare just to design Avatar clothes, and make kinect games.
There was TOO much focus on Family games and casual kid games and casual games in general. Then the Kinect could be use for non gaming activities.... BUT for gamers other than EXTREAM CASUAL there was not much.

Unfortunately that's all they're doing. If Kinect fails, Rare is screwed.
I doubt thats all theyre doing. Rare are huge, it doesn't take a team their size to make a motion sports game. They will definitely have other projects on the go too, but whether they are Kinect games or not who knows. Please Log In to post.
