[QUOTE="Nedemis"]Why bother disputing a failed poll that didn't even take into consideration 360 haters that voted when they more then likely haven't even PLAYED a 360? That poll was nothing more then massive fail and ANY post claiming it as truth is an automatic fail. You know.....kinda like this thread. :lol:Cicatraz_ESP

Yet the same people who say this use polls on System Wars to validate their arguments :/

and anyone with a brain would know that they are skewed as well, but for a publication to use one is flat out stupid.

You ever think that I myself owned a 360 8 months before a PS3 and experienced it getting a failed HDD then RRoD? That my Brother in law John Reed that is head regional manager of Social Security has had five 360 failures from RRoD to discdrive failures, and the guy that loves the 360 that works at my local Game Crazy Matt has had 7 fail him and he still will only play 360 even still could possibly be fact and that the 360 really has failed on people over 50% of the time? It's so utterly rediculous that with proof from a nonaffiliated magazine as popular as Game Informer is and is known for not being partial to any company is still denied the truth when they prove it. WHATEVER FANBOYS!

damn can u tell them to stop peeing on their 360s plz???

[QUOTE="Matt_1337"]

[QUOTE="patriots7672"]

The sad part is it's true! And so is Game Informer's 54.2% failure report.

patriots7672

So, that means that 3.8% of people wouldn't buy another 360 is also true? 96.2% of people would rather buy another XBOX 360 that has a 54.2% failure rate rather than a PS3, Wii or a gaming PC, interesting.

Yes! Those are fact from polling 5000 random subscribers! MS didn't deny it because it fact from polling those 5000 people. MS knows it put out very faulty hardware and this is why they extended their warranty from 90 days to a year and then to 3 years. They don't care because they're raking tons of cash from their online service and they don't put as much into their systems as does Sony so their manufacturing costs are far less so they're making more profit from each system than Sony is and they get money from Netflix and the companies who are advertising on the dashboard. Sony puts a bluray drive, WiFi, a web browser, gives free online with no advertising, and makes their controllers rechargable and allows people to buy other brands of HDDs. MS forces people to buy only their stuff to add things onto their 360s. MS's console is a bigger money making machine for $299 than is the PS3 for $299.

The problem is that there are way more than 5000 xbox 360 owners out there, so quoting the 54 percent figure as the truth is insane. While it is true that 54 percent of the people that responded to the poll have failed 360's it does not represent the total userbase. Asking MS to comfirm that number to be true is just moronic.

They do that to prove that polls are not accurate. If they are as accurate as cows would like to believe they are, then PS3's failure rate would be 33% :o, quite awful considering that PS3 doesn't have a 3-year warranty.

And should I believe that with the majority of my friends that have had their PS3 crap out on them = entire market fail stats for Sony then? Okay....PS3 fail rate = over 60% then. You heard it here first people.....FACTUAL proof based off of my friends and their experiences with the PS3.

Sounds like being your friend and an XBOX 360 owner is a bad combination. I know more than a few people playing their launch system still. I am not saying Microsoft is perfect but when the Cows have only this to promote their system it really comes off sad. I know only one person that defected to PS3 from XBOX 360 and guess what....he came back to XBOX 360 last month.

[QUOTE="anarchist4eva"][QUOTE="DeadMagazines"]I wonder how Sony feels about the factual 40% failure rate of the ps3? I'm eagerly waiting for their response. WardCleaver02

Source please. Sony was very upfront about problems w/ PS1 & PS2. That is the difference between an electronics company & a software vendor. M$ is never honest about problems with their products.

Uh, no they were not.

It took a class-action lawsuit to get them to compensate people for the DRE issue, and even then they did not admit to the problem.

Link

Whats worse is the PS3 has a failure rate of 11% and Sony are doing nothing to help their consumers.

"defected" as in sold his system? Even if I never ever touched a system, I would never sell it. I've only sold one game that I bought, ever, and I feel kind of bad about it. D=

[QUOTE="WilliamRLBaker"][QUOTE="anarchist4eva"]

The same thing that is now wrong with every other "US" companies customer service. What they haven't outsourced is all but a skeleton crew & deals with you in the most passive manner when they decide to get to you. That is if they can get past the language barrier! If you get someone you can speak to good for you. But that is the exception & not the rule.

Let me ask you this? Why do you think Apple has some of the highest rated customer service in the computer/electronics biz? Answer; Because you pay for it up front with the purchase price. And before you say Sony this, Sony that, I didn't give them high marks either. The difference is if you spend upwards of $25,000 on a hi-def broadcast camera, they tend to listen when you call. M$ does the same thing with their software. If you are a corporate client, you get onsite service & repair. The average joe gets Windows Vista & RROD.

anarchist4eva

Lets see vista is a great product, people have let a stupid stigma over problems ""supposed problems"" that were prevailent even in past OS's XP when it was launched had a supposed abysmal compatibility rate now people rave about it over vista, in reality vista was compatbile with most up to date stuff people were having problems with older stuff, and the fact that it took a little more power system to run vista I've not had a problem with it, I'm currently playing heroes of might and magic 3 and 4 on vista...think about that for a second and you'll understand the significance. I've had miniscule problems with microsoft support, when i cannot understand a indian tech i explain in simple terms that im sorry i cannot understand them can they transfer me to a english speaking tech or an american tech and it usually happens. Oh and apple? http://www.tuaw.com/2006/03/09/apple-to-outsource-tech-support-to-india/

Vista a great product? That explains why retail sales have been flat for it's entire shelf life. The only way they've been able to unload it is with pre-installs. Not the same thing & the hardware maker is left to handle tech support in those cases. As for the Apple to India bit, that is their online support not live tech which is handled exclusively in Cupertino. As for the rest see my reply above. Done.

sales haven't been flat, sales have been respectable, as for that sales were as low as they were because if the false stigma the community put on it, you didn't answer a single question except to make a false supposition that vista sold flat when it sold respectably for a product that is supposedly a failure. As for that you are now backtracking, you made out that because apple has such great tech support it means they don't use Indian tech centers when they do, apple gets such high scores in most every category not because of quality, but because of mac fanboys.

Syn_Valence

that's an awesome thing to be proud of.

"Well, after I got sued I decided to get off my ass and fix the problem. that's after denying it ever existed, mind you".

The probelm with this is, it's pretty damn hypocritcal to bash MS for this after Sony had to be sued, after making you pay to fix their problem. Say what you want about the RROD, it has a 3 year warranty and they paid people back that previously paid to get the RROD fixed. So saying MS did nothing is a complete fabrication or distortion of the facts.Take your pick.

Neither side of this argument has anything to be proud of.

You have it backwards. Sony had to get sued before they even admitted there was a problem with the PS2. Even after they admitted it, they never extended the warranty, or anything like that. Why not look it up? MS went public, and took full responsibility for the 360's problems. They extended the warranty to 3 years, and they paid all of the money that they charged people for RROD repairs. Again, you have it completely backwards.

Why bother disputing a failed poll that didn't even take into consideration 360 haters that voted when they more then likely haven't even PLAYED a 360? That poll was nothing more then massive fail and ANY post claiming it as truth is an automatic fail. You know.....kinda like this thread. :lol:Nedemis

If that were the case, then wouldn't there be just as many PS3 haters who did the same thing? Wouldn't there be even MORE Wii haters who did the same thing?

Still yet, the 360 came out with the highest polled failure rate. There is no reason to suspect that any more false failures were reported for the 360 than for the PS3 or the Wii. Whether you like it or not, that means something.

Although i think the poll was kind of stupid there is a reason M$ didn't dispute it ;)

If M$ wanted to dispute this it would mean having to disclose the real failure rate in order to prove this one wrong but since they didn't i think it's safe to assume it's still pretty damn high.

I dont care what GI says, no one will ever convince me over half of 360s have broken. Gimme a number that factors out all the idiots who 1) use the intercooler, 2) put their 360 in an enclosed area 3) dont treat their system like a multi hundred dollar electronic

what bothers me is that MS can put out a sh$t console and people still support them. I just don't see how people can put up with this garbage, by the 2nd trip to the post office i would have cut my loses and gotten something else.

You would of hated the PS1&PS2 if that was the case.

:lol:patriots7672

The irony, you should review your post history and find out what a fanboy actually is.

[QUOTE="DeadMagazines"]I wonder how Sony feels about the factual 40% failure rate of the ps3? I'm eagerly waiting for their response. anarchist4eva
Source please. Sony was very upfront about problems w/ PS1 & PS2. That is the difference between an electronics company & a software vendor. M$ is never honest about problems with their products.

Upfront? I didn't know being taken to court because you failed to acknowledge a problem is "upfront"

Syn_Valence

BUT SONY FIXED IT! they did? yet the settlement came all most 5 years after the fact.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/news101105ps2lawsuit

BUT BUT the microsoft has DON NuTTING!
well at all most 4 years...why aren't they given the 5 years to do something about it?

But in the end no, sony never fixed it, it exists today but at a very small percentage.

Wow you don't have to send the 360 back through the USPS that kinda cool, i guess they make it easy to get a replacement but here is the thing, you can compare MS 360 to sony PS1 and PS2 all you want but is does not excuse them for sending out 1000s of known Sh$ty consoles, i mean have some pride in what you sell and build and have some standards is what you buy people

no one is making excuses by comparing them, what people are doing it saying hey you have no right to talk. Don't make out that microsoft is the only company to ever have problems, don't make out they are the ultimate evil corporation when they aren't.

[QUOTE="DeadMagazines"][QUOTE="Verge_6"] A gaming magazine survey of a few gamers is considered irrefutable, factual evidence? Has this board finally lost what little smarts it had to begin with?micky4889

What's sad is that people other than hardcore fanboys are taking this poll serious and confronting MS about a freaking poll taken by a magazine. Pathetic.

Although i think the poll was kind of stupid there is a reason M$ didn't dispute it ;)

If M$ wanted to dispute this it would mean having to disclose the real failure rate in order to prove this one wrong but since they didn't i think it's safe to assume it's still pretty damn high.

ooo stealth edit! :P

Sony haven't disputed the 11% failure rate either!

1. You really believe the PS3 has a 11% falire rate? 2. Where was the poll taken? How many of the people polled has mutiple consoles? 3. Why only 5000? But hey, I just took a poll in my neighboorhood and found out that 40% of Americans speak spanish, 30% is black and 20% is asian and 10% is white....Who knew

It was a poll that was taken by 5,000 people. Fanboys will invade polls to makea console they don't own look bad. Besides, I still have my launch 360, but I have been using an Elite since 2007. Non the less, neither has broken down, or over heated.

I see your point, and to be clear i knowsonyhadproblems too. In fact i'm sure some 360 owners were PS2 disgruntled fans. I just wanted to make the point that if we as consumers do not hold companies responsible for sell consoles with inexcusable failure rates then we all suffer. Also people are saying i don't believe 50% failure rate (i agree) but is there Really any difference if the rate is 36%, still is unacceptable.

Ok MS has given their RRoD rate last year of being more the 26% of 360 within a year. Dvd drive issues range 10-14% and who can forget the E74 error! which is 10-15% rate. So when you add those rates up it well above 40% , which is sad, so 1 of 3 Xbox 360's will break in one way or another within its first year of use.... Best warranty bah!!! if its not a E74 or RRoD problem you have to pay to get it fixed. Poor design and poor quality parts play the major role of how the 360 fails as a quality console. Everyone I know that has a 360 has been through 2 at least, some have had 3 and a couple are on their forth. The local ups store where I live gets average of 30-40 360's a week to be sent back to get repaired, so that also says something.

They don't need to respond to stupid questions about a poll of readers for a magazine. If you truly expect that of them then you must also expect them to come onto System Wars and continually rebuttal every other claim on here because this board has about as much credibility as that poll.

there is a difference, and a fundamental one. First I don't believe its 36% i believe its lower, I believe microsoft has taken steps to lower the problem since launch. The fundamental difference is that 36% is lower then 54% and spreading out rumors of 54% is a bad thing to do no one should sit and tell lies, Gameinformer was negligent they made no effort to set rules, guidelines to the survey to show that it was older units...etc that were failing. Nothing in the survey lets us know specifics all it is is BOOM 54% boom 11% boom...etc It was a tactic to sell systems, and likely put forth by its owner Gamestop.
