a 54.2 failure rate is pitiful, and likely its a bit less, but still, it's sad to see that people will buy a faulty piece of hardware like the 360. it reminds me of American car makers not so long ago making piece of poo cars yet people still bought them. it doesnt take much to follow the crowd

That's why i didn't just mention the poll.

I'm mentioning the tons of articles, relates and surveys that were made since the console's release.

Not one of those was ever proven to be wrong.

SambaLele

More polls? Automatic fail.

EB Games and Best Buy: "360's Failure rate around 33%"

The funny thing is that it's and article from 2007, and by that time the Wii and PS3's failure rate was still around 1%. Things have changed uh?

Xbox 360 Failure Rate: 30% says retailers

Those were really easy to find and are not polls. You can find lots of other articles with evidences that the defect ratio is really high, beyond any other system.

Can you still counter these solely with your faith?

~33% sounds about right. MS set aside $1.2billion for RROD repairs and according to the August issue of Game Informer "the problem has exceeded the $1 billion mark and is showing no signs of slowing.". MS charges ~$100 for a RROD repair, assuming MS is being generous and is repairing at cost $1.2billion buys 12 million RROD repairs, 40% of the total 360s sold (allowing a certain percentage of overlap for multiple RRODs per customer).

[QUOTE="enygma500"]Unless squaretrade handles all of MS's warranty work then their number is already faulted. Sure, of the 360 warranties they sell they could have only seen a 16% fail rate. But how many 360's do they warranty? It never says. it could be 10, it could be all of the 360's in america or in the UK. We have no idea. Sorry to point out the obvious to you though.

enygma500

Yet, somehow the 5000 people surveyed represents the 360 user base? Your logic is flawed and hypocritical.

No you're twisting my words, yet again. As you do in every other thread we argue, at which point you report me for some stupid reason, usually about the time I prove you wrong and you don't come back.

I already said the poll could be false or the poll could be true. But as of right now it's the most recent number we have and MS doesn't flat out deny it.

For the most recent xbox?? You said it yourself. But I guess the source you are going with handles all 360 repairs and claims ? Becuase you know it doesnt.

Huh? I never said that company doesn't handle all the repair. chances are a different company would be used between different regions if there was any middle man at all. All I said was that it culd be highly likely that of the 360's that company warranties they've only warratied 16% or whatever.

Even if this is fake (which it most likely is). The 360 still has a high **** failure rate and I will never understand why M$ fanboys defend it to this day.

enygma500

Nobody denies that 360 has a high failure rate. Some people just like to tell themselves that the failure rate is 54%.

No but they try to justify the failure rate in any ways possable. such as MS is a software company so they should be given a break. If MS wanted they could simply contract out to a hardware company to redisgn the 360 without this flaw. for far cheaper then the cost of repairing all the consoles. But they don't, why is that?

MS makes profit from repairing consoles. They put a 3 year warranty on a "10 year" life cycle system. It's too late for MS to redesign for them to make any money, because we are in the fourth year. :|

Um, what? Vista is trash. Vista is such trash that windows 7, a BETA os, improves a computer's performance dramatically over vista.

[QUOTE="WilliamRLBaker"][QUOTE="anarchist4eva"]

The same thing that is now wrong with every other "US" companies customer service. What they haven't outsourced is all but a skeleton crew & deals with you in the most passive manner when they decide to get to you. That is if they can get past the language barrier! If you get someone you can speak to good for you. But that is the exception & not the rule.

Let me ask you this? Why do you think Apple has some of the highest rated customer service in the computer/electronics biz? Answer; Because you pay for it up front with the purchase price. And before you say Sony this, Sony that, I didn't give them high marks either. The difference is if you spend upwards of $25,000 on a hi-def broadcast camera, they tend to listen when you call. M$ does the same thing with their software. If you are a corporate client, you get onsite service & repair. The average joe gets Windows Vista & RROD.

topgunmv

Lets see vista is a great product, people have let a stupid stigma over problems ""supposed problems"" that were prevailent even in past OS's XP when it was launched had a supposed abysmal compatibility rate now people rave about it over vista, in reality vista was compatbile with most up to date stuff people were having problems with older stuff, and the fact that it took a little more power system to run vista I've not had a problem with it, I'm currently playing heroes of might and magic 3 and 4 on vista...think about that for a second and you'll understand the significance. I've had miniscule problems with microsoft support, when i cannot understand a indian tech i explain in simple terms that im sorry i cannot understand them can they transfer me to a english speaking tech or an american tech and it usually happens. Oh and apple? http://www.tuaw.com/2006/03/09/apple-to-outsource-tech-support-to-india/

whatever you say man, Vista is great its on my laptop and PC and i've not restarted for all most a week now. i doubt you've used it for longer then 5 minutes.

There's nothing wrong with the PS3. ANY electronic is just as likely to break. And Pretty much no company offers more then a year warranty, hell most don't even go past 3 months. So by trying to make the PS3 look bad, you actuall just said that it's well within industry standards, while the 360 isn't even close.

enygma500

Well within industry standards? 11% failure rate?

Check the link BEFORE you make yourself look like a fool. Just for future reference. Standard is 15% after 3-4 years.

yeah i've see you use that link before and in the end it means literally nothing. Not when sony them selves say its below 3% and cows claim no ps3 ever breaks.

Well if they denied it they would be faulty manufacturers and liars. Either way I love how the 11% of Sony is mentioned as if it was anywhere near the rate of 54% which is almost 5 times higher. If the numbers were really false, MS is really foolish for not directly addressing that immediately.

Shhadow_Viper
or that either one is a cold hard number that can be proven.

Azatos

Am not a fanboy but i do defend the failure rate. I own the PS3 and 360 from launch. When my 360 had RROD i sent it to MS and i got new one back in a week. I didn't see this as a bigproblem as it was only a week. Over that week i hardly played my PS3 because there was no games out for it yet. So for me I played more of the 360 that month than i did the PS3.

MS probably didn't respond directly to the 54.2% failure rate report because it was only a survey done by random people. No big company is going to respond to survey as weak as that. If they did start to comment on every small survey then they would have tomake commentsevery other day for every mag or internet survey that has anything bad to say about there product and no company would do this.

Why is it that there are vastly more Cows that pretend to own a 360 than Lemmings that pretend to own a PS3? I've always wondered about that.

I cannot believe this thread is still going on. Are people actually taking a very limited survey to represent the 360 userbase in its entirity? Do you not know how polls work? Do you not know the very asbics of statistics? This is seriously amusing, if not depressing.
