oh then he is wrong....this gen has been a blast for me with the 360/PS3/PC
"I think it is obvious that when everyone is connected online, there will be enormous opportunity for me to create something really unique," Miyamoto said. "But my job is to try to entertain as many people as possible, and I see all Wii owners as the audience. Of course, we have Mario Kart, which can be played online by multiple people. So we are gradually expanding the experiences using the Internet, but my own personal focus is to try to entertain people, even if they are not connected to the Internet. That is my first priority."
I wish every dev was like this... maybe we wouldn't have games with 4 hours campaigns and what not.

Agreed that the first goal should be to try to entertain people. Entertainment can be fun, exciting, scary, whatever, but if the game isn't entertaining it does fall fall flat.
As for games not being fun enough, I disagree. I am having a lot of fun with many different games and genres right now. Personally, I think if he feels that games aren't fun he shouldn't focus on Wii Music. :P Okay, I'm bashing it without playing it but I stand by my statement.
Thats why we have at least three AAA-calebre first party games scheduled to be released this year. Also a couple years ago Metriod 3, SMG and Brawl were all released within 12 months of eachother. Nintendo just hasn't been spacing thier games up enough :PThis is what I've been saying, Nintendo has got to take care of the Wii audience.

there is no point in listing games in trying to prove an opinion wrong

Well this is coming from the same company who said online is just a fad and fans really dont want it just sounds like an excuse to me :P"I think it is obvious that when everyone is connected online, there will be enormous opportunity for me to create something really unique," Miyamoto said. I know it's just his opinion. I respect that and I respect Miyamoto for what he's done for the gaming industry. What I said was a joking way of saying I disagree. Nothing more.Miyamoto did a bang up job with Wii Music. Err...maybe this guy does not know what he is talking about anymore.
Videodogg
he is right though, with no big nintendo games to push the bar (sales) and a lack of big, quality releases last year (in mean in general cows) there has been a slump.

Yeah, but like you said, we had to go through a drought of "a couple of years" to get the love this year. I have all three of those games and more, but Nintendo's resources aren't aimed at the core like they are the masses. I get it, and I'm thankful for this year when it's over. However, I'm in March 2010, and 1st party wise, reality is what it is.:P
[QUOTE="Videodogg"]exactly isnt this the guy who said he could have made halo? that made me laugh so hard Of course he could of. Anyone could.Miyamoto did a bang up job with Wii Music. Err...maybe this guy does not know what he is talking about anymore.

I swear every time I read one of these articles from someone @ Nintendo it's like reading through your typical SW sheep arguments.
Correlating sales with fun, biased opinions about online gaming and their elevated and skewed view of uniqueness. It's like a copypasta.
[QUOTE="Videodogg"]exactly isnt this the guy who said he could have made halo? that made me laugh so hard He has made games far better than Halo. Never saw what was such a big deal with that statement, other than striking the nerves of the Halo worshippers.Miyamoto did a bang up job with Wii Music. Funny how that works. It's the same thing with all PR (other than Miyamoto not really being PR). He said he could have done [a Halo-type game], but chose not to.

That's the point of public interviews, especially when you are asked about competing developers that are doing the opposite of what you are doing.

4 hour campaigns? What game has 4 hour campaigns? That's offensive. So he didn't find 2009 a very fun year, hate to break it to alot of you but he has a point. Alot of games got bumped to this year that were suppose to release last year., ALOT of games really.VideoGameGuyAll because of MW2. Interestingly, the other big 2009 game that wasn't bumped out to avoid MW2 was New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

I wish every single developer had this mentality. Unfortunatlely, Miyamoto's words isnt getting him a free pass from me.

I know but it's hard to tell the length of a game as most sources exaggerate it to either extreme.
"exactly isnt this the guy who said he could have made halo? that made me laugh so hard " Considering he has created far better games, and multiple games far better at that, what he said is true, he could have created halo, and it would have been better no doubt.IgorAntunovHe dosent do shooters he just came off as cockey to me and no he would not have made it better
2009 had some okay titles, but the only "Fun" one was Wii Sports Resort.
The first time I played sword play, I couldn't believe it. It is easily one of the most fun games I've ever played.
