I'll say it again. the mod who allowed the game to be exclusive said himself the polls are pretty much Bull..the system was so over abused.
Threads created every day by a cow, lemming, or what ever boasting about said game being AAA > a poll being put together. The game has ben boasted since MLB 9 came out that this would be another AAA.

I know they're bull, but your deciding a game's hype solely on what only fanboys say and completely disregarding everyone else.
That's no way to determine a game's hype.
It sure is a way. That's what happens in SW. As soon as the game became an Exclusive it was in the hands of the cows, the cows took it to far. I'm sorry, but it's the truth.

Lol, no truth. Sure some cows hyped it AAA, but cows aren't SW. Sorry to burst your bubble. Off to school! :([QUOTE="hkmp5a2"]

Lol, no truth. Sure some cows hyped it AAA, but cows aren't SW. Sorry to burst your bubble. Off to school! :( What is your definition of SW then. Mine was was System Wars is about who has the best system and games.. Not lets all sit together and talk about said game while enjoying some tea. I keep saying it, "cows" had the ball in their court and ran with it, they dropped the ball. This is the first time I'm ever hearing this about the entire "SW" has to determine what a games hype is when it's the fanboys job to do so. A multiplat game is different though since it falls out of the spirit of SW.And I'll reiterate, it's fairly easy to see why some will consider this a flop. It's obvious it didn't meet expectations.Jeez, we're still arguing this? I thought my post last night would clear it up a bit. Guess not :?

yeah 8.0 - 8.5 seems about right. I played a full 162 game season last year (plus more) and its too much of the same. If it didn't have all the bugs, if they fixed loading in RTTS mode and they added a bunch of new commintary I would have said 9.0-9.5.

and I'll reiterate, people will consider and argue in SW for almost any game as a flop, especially those games that score less than AAA.
Doesn't mean they are right either.
and I'll reiterate, people will consider and argue in SW for almost any game as a flop, especially those games that score less than AAA.Sure, only for this game they have a considerable basis to declare such. I'd be shocked if someone said they predicted the game would get an 8.0; only a mere .5 above MLB 2k10.Doesn't mean they are right either.

gamespot is getting really funny now.. the computer is too good? or is it just ur not good at playing the game.
They say problems with pitching mechanics, i played 3 games with my friend, what problems? The only thing that i see mlb series having problems with is online.

It's obvious it didn't meet expectations. Then why was everyone so happy to consider Heavy Rain a flop based on a poll? Rather than the bulk of expectations posted, which I recall being more along the lines of a cautious AA, since it was a new IP with a unique gameplay style that may not lend itself to everyone's favor.Jeez, we're still arguing this? Also when does hype become official in this metagame, doesn't it need to be locked in before reviews start coming in to influence it? It seems kind of pointless if something is hyped AAA for months and then after some negative reviews come in before Gamespot's it falls to AA, or vice versa as seems to be the case for Heavy Rain.

There is no "official" way of doing it. The only official way we did have was banned (not sure when exactly it was banned though). The problem rests with multiple and multiple threads popping up regarding hype even very late in the window -- where as a hype thread could pop up before, as in a day or whatever, before it's even reviewed. I sort of wish we'd go back to having just one "official" thread and go off that but hey, that in of itself was an issue as well back in the day which lead to its banning.
Ok Im sure someone already pointed this out but did I actually read in the review that its too much like its predecessor? Its baseball! How do you change the gameplay of baseball?
If Madden and NHL games can make improvements why can't a MLB game?Ok Im sure someone already pointed this out but did I actually read in the review that its too much like its predecessor? Its baseball! How do you change the gameplay of baseball?

Make it interesting to watch. Nevermind, that's impossible...
[QUOTE="powerman91"]If Madden and NHL games can make improvements why can't a MLB game? I didnt say it couldnt make improvements, just that in the review they said the gameplay was the same. As far as I know theres only one way to play baseball so i dont know what they mean.Ok Im sure someone already pointed this out but did I actually read in the review that its too much like its predecessor? Finally got my hands on MLB 10 The Show, and even though it's not a huge leap like 08 was to 07 ... there's still a good amount of changes to the animation work and presentation that make it worth a purchase if you're a baseball fan.
I've only played two games so far, and of course I think it's AAA all the way BUT if I reviewed it the way GS does I would go with an 8.5 just because it didn't make enough significant changes from 09 AND the online still seems to be an issue.
Best baseball game ever made? If were talking about replicating the game as close as possible, nothing comes close to MLB 10 The Show.
in my opinion, i thought 09 should have scored a 8-8.5 because as solid as a game it is, no baseball game should be released without the home run derby mode in it. its like sunny without frank. still great, but smthn was missing... 10 should have gotten the 9

I'm both surprised and not surprised.
I could see this happening, but I don't see why it happened since by most other accounts so far this year's game is an improvement on last year's. It's not really logical.

Also their was no official hype.

Improving on an old formula doesn't necessarily mean you should score the same. The standards raise with yearly installment games to keep delivering unexpected and excellent features. Being a better game doesn't alway mean deserving a better score.
Except with baseball games, the Show IS the standard, and the reviewer states as much to lead off his review. I'd see your point if 2k came out and blew away the competition with new features... but it's the same old broken MLB2K. When you do everything as well or better than you've ever done them before, it's hard to justify the incongruent reviews, and judging by the scores from other sites, I'd say this review is solidly in the minority.
But whatever. As a baseball fan I'll say that The Show 10 met all my expectations and exceeded a few. And after how great 09 was, it's saying something when you can still impress. The new drills for RTTS are great, the Catcher mode and HR derby are welcome new additions, and the game looks beautiful.

I don't see a problem. Leading the pack still doesn't mean your exempt from the standards you impose on yourself by being leader. The best FPS could be miles ahead of everything else and still be an 8. The point of the review isn't to give you a better score for beingbetter game, its entirely about how well you maintain the experience each year. There is nothing logically wrong with this score. I'm not going to play it though because I don't like baseball so that's about where my comments on the score end.

discontinued would be a better word than banned.
