Forget the score, this is the first review I've read from someone who understands were the series has been and has really put meaningful time into this game. This is how reviews should be written. Thorough, with a good understanding of the series past.

can you really blame him for not knowing. I mean story is so iffy around fighters that its rare for some to have a real story mode. So far in this gen BB and MK seem the only ones to really have one.

anyone know if they added finishers other then fatalities (brutalities, babalities, anamolites,friendships etc). Also, hows kratos and raiden as a character?l____x___O____l

There are babalities and I believe there are friendships too (I don't know about animalities, but the game is so full of features that I don't see why not). Brutalities were only for MK vs DC, so the DC heroes wouldn't kill anyone.

Reptile's been my favorite from day one. Great to see his return; sneaky tricks and acid bubbles. I plan to stick with him as a main... But I'm stuck on who'd make a good tag to him?Coyful

Exactly what I've been saying. This game is more than enough to please any MK fan. I know on the internet every game has an angry mob fanbase ready to ***** up a storm over anything, but I'm really curious to see how any MK fans will try complaining about this game. Netherrealm really outdid themselves and took MK in the best direction possible.

IGN review sucked imo. Why is there no thread about GT review? Anyway I wonder what score GS will give to this game. Man I really hope this game will be avaible tomorrow. Normally the game won't be avaible till thursday but when you pre-order you normally get the game a day earlier. Oh and I also hope I'll get Reptile's classic outfit, not Sub-Zero's.(imo Reptile looks cooler when he's more human looking, but that's just me)kweeni

So IGNorant Ryan feels Mortal Kombat 2011 is worse than Mortal Kombat Armageddon? Well, look at the IGN scoreboard, folks. A game with recycled moves, out-dated graphics, no unique fatalities, aging gameplay system, etc., scored higher than Mortal Kombat 2011. The story mode cut-scenes can be skipped when you play through a 2nd time. Where is the review of the awesome tag-team mode, the test your luck, sight, might, luck mini-games? What about the kombat kodes? This review needs to be taken down and re-posted with valid reasons why it is an 8 out of 10. So far, Ryan has done a very poory job explaining what is bad about the graphics, which are absolutely gorgeous, or why a game packed with so much content is worth 8 out of 10.

So far of the 3 reviews I've read GB's was the only one that was good. And not because of the score, or the praise, but because you could tell he played the game thoroughly and understood the series well. I wouldnt have cared if he slammed the game and gave it a 1.0, at least I could be certain that the guy spent meaningful time playing and analyzing the game.

As for the other 2 reviews I've read (IGNs being one of them), anybody could have simply watched a few preview videos on youtube and a couple of interviews and wrote that up. I mean how can you actually get paid for crap like that?

And lol @ lasting appeal being low. Hell, I played UMK3 on and off ever since release and it isnt half the game this is. I got more hours out of the demo for MK9 alone than most full retail games I've played this gen. Low lasting appeal my ass! :x

And I wish IGN picked someone who isn't a total noob that cries over every little thing he doesn't like to review this game.
Watching that review made me feel like that guy was picking even the smallest things he could find even if those things didn't even make any sense(characters stuck in the 90's? wtf?) just so he could bash this game and give it a lower score.

Its not an issue with the score at all actually. An 8 is not a bad score by any means and is within a fair range for this game. The contents of the review is garbage, and could have easily been written after watching a few gameplay videos on youtube and an Ed Boon interview.

I would have said Scorp and Sub, but I burnt them into the ground playing the demo.

Realistically though, I love all the characters. I've never been able to say that about any fighting game before, but each one is unique and fun to play as. Its as if they found the biggest fanboy for each character and tasked them with creating a moveset. Seriously, thats how much love went into making this game. :)

Great picks! For some reason I just couldn't catch a good flow with Mileena. I know shes sick from the combo vids I've seen, but I just cant pull that stuff off with her. I am using a controller though, maybe a fight stick is what I need.
