Mass Effect. I usually don't play many RPGs though.

[QUOTE="Vaasman"]It's not, I had absolutely no expectations going in so there was nothing to be disappointed about. Doesn't make it any less of a mediocre action RPG.

I wish more action RPGs had the level of care and attention to detail that Diablo 3 had put into it.
Attention to detail means nothing when they ruin the balance rpg elements and gear system right out of the gate. The game is much better balanced now after the latest patch. Demon Hunters, Wizards, and Barbs are about equal now and Monks/Witch Docs arn't far behind. D2 wasn't perfect right out of the gate either.
I initially mentioned Mass Effect 2 and Fallout 3.
I need to mention two others: Fable III and Diablo III.
Fable II I found to be a solid RPG. Really intriguing, silly and lighthearted fun. Fable III was a dumbed down piece of crap that I stopped playing after 2 hours. No worries though, I hear the game was only like 4 hours long anyway.
Diablo III might just take the cake as the most disappointing of all time. Diablo, Diablo II, Diablo II: Lord of Destruction and Torchlight are four of the best action RPGs I have ever played and all made by basically the same guys. Diablo III spits on that legacy. I got four hours in before I quit playing, half-cursing, half-anticipating Torchlight II for a real action-RPG.

What didn't you like about D3? It probably wont mean much to you but the game has been significantly improved since launch.
>disappointment

That doesn't even make the slightest bit of sense. A game cannot be objectively disappointing.
I've never even heard of Lands of Lore III, how could I have been disappointed by it?Vaasman
Mass Effect 3.Anyone who disagrees is obviously a moron.Vaasman

But it's not.
And atleast that game attempted to do something different. A female protagonist who wasn't made for basement dwelling teenagers, an interesting setting. Dragon Age didn't even bother to diffrentiat itself in it's fiction or aesthetic.

Having fun measuring your e-peen?
I know.
That's the difference between you and I. I know when to call a bad game a bad game, even if I happen to like it. In the case of Dreamfall, even if I happen to be a fan of it.
Thanks for the unprovoked comment though, I had forgotten to post up my Dreamfall review.

Far as I'm concerned, you misinterpreted blatant sarcasm by having absolutely no understanding of the TC's post history or my own, and then didn't read any part of the thread beyond that specific post. Yep certainly you've all gotten the best of me!

I can't for the life of me figure out how Mass Effect 2 is supposed to be a dissapointment.
musalala
Mass effewct 2 and 3 were not rpg"s...More like action games with light RPG mechanics. Mass effect 1 was a RPG
I didn't have a problem with them not being RPG's, I had a problem with them being sucky.[QUOTE="MikeMoose"]

-Poor leveling and skill system
-Poor loot drop system
-Poor direction/general cheese-factor that takes itself too seriously
-Forced online DRM that booted me out of sessions due to "server maintenance"
Whatever they fixed is irrelevant to me. The game I played had poor RPG mechanics, was extremely stupid and didn't let me play to my convenience.
Unlimited Saga....huge piece of sh!t. Square Enix hyped the game as being the next Final Fantasy, and it failed miserably.
Also Fable sucks. But those barely count as RPG's. FF13 is also not only one of the worst RPG's, but also one of the worst games this gen.

Didn't you give GTA IV a 9.5...? Just sayin'Those scores were given when I was a little number whore. I wouldn't take them seriously, as my views change often as I'm still in my teenage years. Wish I could delete all at the same time, people always bring them up when they don't have a valid arguement
Plus GTAIV is good.
Someone said last 5 minutes of ME3- I totally agree. Havent seen the epilogue
I love FFX, it's my favorite game- but I didn't get much enjoyment from 12. So it was disappointing in that sense, however I wasn't ever really crazy hyped for 12.
Originally very hyped for Dragon Quest 9 when it was supposed to be a hack and slash and when they changed it to turn based I lost interest.
Deus Ex HR - f#@@ that game
Rogue Galaxy- I went back and forth on buying this game for years and after I eventually got it and it really felt average in almost every way
The Hack and Slash RPG genre in general- there hasn't been a single great dungeon crawler like Dark alliance or Champions of Norrath since. Atleast that I know of.
Has to be FF13 all the wait....and it was a piece of crap. Everything 12 was in terms of world they went the other way.... And SE has some creepy love affaird with lightning that they shove that series down peoples throats..
DA2 is also up there...Bioware trying to appease the masses and they only made more people angry
I forgot to add in Mass Effect 3. Hardly any investigation levels, just repetitive shooting and some seriously forced writing and emotion. Cringing in parts. biggest_loserWRONG There are some investigation levels, and then Leviathan. And really, its the first game in the series with the forced writing, not ME3.

Please, you are trying to see plot holes in ME3 that are simply just not there.Yes it can...it can underperform in sales and critically. Ultima IX basically killed the Ultima series, Richard Garriot's career, and Origin systems. Four of the five games I listed killed their series. That's not what disappointing means, that's what underperforming means. You cannot be disappointed by a game you've never had any interest in, no matter how poorly it sells or is reviewed.[QUOTE="texasgoldrush"][QUOTE="Vaasman"]

Would you really consider something like Street Cleaning Simulator a disappointing game, simply because it didn't sell and got abysmal reviews?
And I myself have not played Lands of Lore iII....but the fact is the fanbase was massively letdown. Because it was so hyped, and then let almost everyone down, it goes down in history as a dissappointment. Ultima IX is this, Mass Effect 3 is not.Sorry, but a story that DA2 had is far from a pleasing the masses storyline, thats DAO.Has to be FF13 all the wait....and it was a piece of crap.
