Going $400 w/ kinect would get me off the fence and secure my X1 preorder. Competitively it would put them in a very good spot, simply because the advantages of the kinect will be immediately obvious to the consumer, whereas the upgraded GPU/RAM of the ps4 will not be.

Maybe they're removing the Kinect requirement? It'll definitely still be bundled but hopefully not mandatory.TheDidact

Credit to Microsoft They tried something ahead of the game and people didn't like it so they changed. Relaunch is the best thing they can do. Just got to do it well and they will be back on track to being the superior console. They just need to Drop price slightly £30/$50 will do it Show off what Kinect can do for the console and games Introduce the cool features such as family sharing and trading in for digital games Show something along the lines of Nvidia research showing off what the cloud can actually do Make sure its all running on an Xbox One Show more games including indie stuff Show Windows 8 features including apps and it would end the console war before it even started :)tdkmillsy

Ive always kind of wondered why electronics manufacturers that know they wont be able to meet demand dont price gouge. There must be a reason, otherwise it would be standard practice.

Sources say that the Kinect costs nearly as much as the console to manufacture, so i assume the console is already being sold at loss.

Adding 100$ more loss per unit sounds crazy!

Look how long it took Sony to recover from selling the PS3 at 599$ with 300$ loss per unit!

There is probablly only like a 10% chance they will do a price drop.

More than likely they will treat as a unveiling of the system and focus on announcing everything they have changed since E3 to get press that shows how it is now. Kind of a "pretend e3 never happened" approach and hope people will forget and people who see the new information from gamescom that dont know anything about the xbox one will think it sounds cool.

You'll see a cheaper Wii U this holiday either way. Expect a $249-$299 Black Friday Bundle at major retailers. Look at Vita, it was $199 everywhere on BF past year yet it's still at $249 now.TheDidact

I doubt it'll be a price drop. The Kinect is probably the extra $100 so unless they make two bundles (one with Kinect for $500, one without Kinect for $400), they'd be taking a hit of $100 for each console sold (if they drop the price $100 but keep the Kinect). If they do drop Kinect though some one bundle, they'll lose a selling point. That's my guess.

They're probably going to reaffirm that they're not bringing back the DRM features/restrictions, they'll detail family sharing and explain how they'd like to incorporate this feature in the future, etc.

Only 3 more weeks until Gamescom. :D

Huh? :? What are you basing this on?  PS3 outsold or at the very least tied 360 despite all of its shortcomings. Not to mention PS3 has been more expensive the whole time. According to trends, X1 could be cheaper than Ps4 and still not outsell it. PS brand is just stronger, and this time around Sony is doing everything right out of the gate. X1 is NOT outselling PS4.
