PC parts droped in prices recently and thus shifting the price/performance ratio to PC. Here is the PC. AMD64 x2 3800 - $110 Mobo AM2 - $50 1gb ddr533 ram - $70 160GB HDD - $50 Geforce 7900GS OC(550/1400) 512mb - $190 Case and PSU - $30 XSOS v3.0 - free KB/M - $30 Total - $530 I didn't include a moniter because non of the console come with one, and you can hook that PC up to ANY TV. Note that this PC has a larger HDD, 3x more ram than iether 360 or PS3. This PC will play every PC game out now and as long as any console out today. Of coarse you have the option to upgrade but it isn't nessecery. PC games are cheaper by atleast 10$ with free online and mods. I am not bashing any console but just pointing out that PC gaming is NOT more expensive that console gaming. If console games appeal to you more that play them, but "PC gaming is more expensive" argument is just a myth now.

PC gaming is never expensive, only to tech junkies and people that buy AlienWares because they think those are "the best"

Although it costs more than consoles, the quality of hardware you get is more than worth it.

No, 360 and PS3 are not more powerful than this system. Yes XSOS v3.0 is an OS with DX10 support.

Probably a cheap gamer. Although the very requirements for the KB/M is less than 20 dollars, the good ones usually cost 100 dollars. But those are very good, and are designed for the hardcore gamers. Its one of the few things cool about the PC, you have a lot of choice.

PC gaming isn't really getting cheaper. It's console gaming that's getting more expensive, $600 for a console *bleep* that. Even $400 is pushing the limits.

No, XSOS v3.0 is an upcoming OS due any day now that can play all windows games including DX10 LEGALLY and is much less resource hungry, with only a small Ram footprint.

PC ownz... but it is really about content and where the content is. In this case, the content is the games. I still love PC gaming though but there are some games that is only available on console. So I am "planning" to get a ps3 some time this year. Why? Cause a PS3 can be upgradeable with a bigger hd as it gets cheaper. Plus YDL is free and is sufficient for regular surfing. Plus I can get Openoffice. I still like Windows cause I grew up with it plus I always find it easier to use. Linux is still maturing and I think it is time for me to try something else like linux and see what it has to offer. I know there will be a learning curve but once I get past that, I think I will be fine. So for $600, (yeah I want th wireless builtin.) I get a Linux to replace my PC, plus a console that can play ps3 and some ps1 + ps2 games. Plus the PSN is free unlike Live. So there will be some months I play online a lot and something not at all. And the good part is I never own a ps1 or ps2 consoles. And I already have a PSP so integration would be sweet. I will of course keep one of my PC for Windows stuff like burning movies and music. Since my PC is only worth like $100-$150, it is no point in selling it cause it still good and stable. Anyway, it is all about content. I need to find a way to stream movies to the ps3 using YDL.

I would cringe putting together a crappy PC like that :| I mean, congrats on the cheapness, but that's all it is - cheap parts, cheap quality. Case AND PSU for $30? Gee, I wonder how stable a $15 power supply is.

Of coarse you have the option to upgrade but it isn't nessecery. PC games are cheaper by atleast 10$ with free online and mods. I am not bashing any console but just pointing out that PC gaming is NOT more expensive that console gaming. If console games appeal to you more that play them, but "PC gaming is more expensive" argument is just a myth now.muscleserge
You need windows to play PC games decently. add in $360 for windows vista bill gates edition

No, XSOS v3.0 is an upcoming OS due any day now that can play all windows games including DX10 LEGALLY and is much less resource hungry, with only a small Ram footprint.

Where can i get more info on Xsos v3.0? if it can run all my windows applications then i think i just may ditch XP :)

http://xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=128986 It is at the end of Beta testing, and I can't wait for it.

Im still a little confused? is it a seperate OS? just for gaming? or does it run right off Windows? either way sounds really neat.... is their an official site. to any older versions perhaps?

My KB/M was $30 CAD. That's a Razer mouse and Saitek keyboard.

Where? That had to be some crazy internet deal.

I would cringe putting together a crappy PC like that :| I mean, congrats on the cheapness, but that's all it is - cheap parts, cheap quality. Case AND PSU for $30? Gee, I wonder how stable a $15 power supply is.MyopicCanadian

I use a $50 case...

I dunno, I mean it works just the same but being a console collector I know that if I ever decide to get a PC that's just for gaming I couldn't have it be mundane.

based on reviews, it's not exactly mundane.

Well perhaps "mundane" was the wrong word.:P

[QUOTE="Citizen_Zero"][QUOTE="muscleserge"][QUOTE="Hammerofjustice"][QUOTE="muscleserge"]PC parts droped in prices recently and thus shifting the price/performance ratio to PC. It is a separate OS, MS actually helped the devs intergrate DX10 into it. I have provided a link, look through the posts. there was a previous version XSOS v2.0 but is had many bugs, this one is going to be much better, in part of the help from MS.
